Hey guys, Recently my dad got a Galaxy Note (N7000) and he has been complaining about The Note 2 getting jelly bean and stuff.
I already rooted it for him with Superuser.
I want to install a custom rom for him but I read a lot of topics saying that theres a very high chance on bricking your device using CWM and stuff.
If anyone could post a step by step guide, That would be super-appreciated, Thank you in advance.

He's already rooted and on stock kernel, if he tries to flash a ROM using above CWM.zip or does factory reset on it, he will brick his device.
Best advice is to go Here, download PhilZ-cwm6-DXLR5-OLB-2.7-signed.zip (that's the one that is compatible with his ROM) and put it on external SD card. From there, boot into recovery mode, and flash Philz kernel from external storage. (It's the only one that can be flashed from stock recovery). Then phone will be fully rooted with safe stock kernel and safe CWM recovery. Only then should any attempt be made to flash ROMs from recovery.
Re: CWM.zip READ THIS
Easiest for me is to flash ICS of your choice using Odin. Then flash speedmod-kernel-n7000-ics-k3-13-Odin.tar using Odin. Select PDA in Odin to use this file. Google it up. Double check that the file you get is for ICS N7000 and that it is the Odin version.
The end result will be a rooted ICS that you can safely wipe. It also has Clockworkmod installed. This allows you to flash custom JB roms. You may get a yellow triangle upon reboot. Just buy Triangle Away on Google Play store. Reset the counter using the app.
But flashing philz from stock doesn't result in triangle, raised counter and need for triangle away. Surely easier

If he has to ask what is xxLRG, thr i wont even advice him to flash custom roms.
Sell the Note and get your father a Note2. Chances are, he will complain of so many things "not normal" once in custom rom, etc.

Hi guys,
Now I had no problems flashing a custom ROM on my HTC Desire but my Samsung Galaxy Note N7000 is causing me a huge headache
I would like to flash Jelly Bean but I'm struggling.
My Note is rooted and I have purchased Mobile Odin off the Play store, using Mobile Odin has not resulted in a successfull flash, yet. lol
What's even more confusing is that the kernel version on my Note has changed but no visible settings can be seen.
Your help is very much appreciated.
Thanks
Stefan
1. How are you flashing in mobile Odin?
2. What rom are you trying to flash?
3. What exactly happens?
4. Are you sure you have full root (DL an app from play store to check)?

nice one..
what rom are you from.. if you have root then install ClockWorkMod and flash Safe kernel such as Speedmod 3-15 and Hydracore,, after flashing safe kernel go to Advance>reboot recovery and flash Custom Rom.

Is ClockWorkMod safe with Samsung Note on ICS?
Depends which kernel, you need a non stock kernel to be completely safe.

Hi guys, my friend has an OB and wants to upgrade to ICS, i've looked on the web and i've seen flashing with KDZ and others, can u link me or tell me how to flash the official firmware. Also if possible, can u give feedback on how smooth it works. Thnx. I personally own a samsung phone so im more familiar with ODIN. Are there any chances of bricking the OB if done the correct procedure? Thnx again.

^^ Is a good place to start, I would say the easiest way would be to download philz kernel for your version (LRB) and flash it through the stock recovery, this will give you root and CWM and from there on the limits are endless.
or you can use philz ODIN version or even HydraCore ODIN version and flash them using ODIN (obviously ) but this will give you yellow triangle (easily removed with triangle away app)
Flash philz kernel, then use pc odin or mobile odin to flash your custom rom.
Anyway you can use the search functions to get more in deep information.

This s short procedure but though i recommend to read above said thread to get detail information.
Hey bro. I dont have ext sd card. Can i use it with my usb storage?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
no.. stock recovery only flashes from external storage.. use the exynos exploit app by chainfire to root .. then use mobile odin to install Philz or speedmod or hydracore.. then you are set to flash custom roms
its the 0.Root with apk procedure in the thread mentioned by Dr ketan
This is much harder than my old infuse 4g. M so confuse... Now u mean i need to root using exynos blabla then install file(mediafire link above) using odin? I dont have credit card for mobile odin, but i have pc odin.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
not the above link but you need to use tar.md5 file version of kernel.. as mobile odin wont recognize that,,
here link to MO by its Dev
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1347899
You can use pc odin but that will increase the counter and cause yellow triangle at boot
Rooted using exynos already. Installing MO and mobileODIN flashkernel N7000 already. Then what?

I bought a new white n7000 with gingerbread installed on it , so i updated hoping that itll be jelly bean after that but nope , it got 4.0.4 ics instead , now i read that i must not wipe or else ill get super brick and i will need mobo replacement. I read a couple of guides to install jelly bean thru odin but my macbook is sent for repair and is back within 2 weeks. Is it possible way to upgrade with that update with zip option i saw in recovery ? And can someone recommend me a good jelly bean build cause i read that each build is different , one is better than the other with performance

You could flash the corresponding PhilZ kernel from Original Development which is brickbug safe. Then you could get Mobile Odin Pro from the Playstore and use it to flash a rom that comes as a .tar file. Or you could get a custom rom that comes as a flashable .zip file and flash it through cwm.
I recommend you either the latest stock rom LT4 or Joosh3s Ultimate JB based on LT4. The stock rom can be downloaded from Sammobile and Ultimate JB from the corresponding thread in the Development forum (not Original Development). I hope this helps.

PhilZ kernel is flashed in recovery (either stock or cwm, download the zip version). There are versions for all roms, just use the one that matches your rom.

Hi.
I had a problem with Odin too, but my way of getting out of the trouble was using Philz Kernel and then standard CWM Recovery, which I find the easiest way to pimp my Notey Note after leaving my old LG Optimus Black Since then, I never went back to trying to use ODIN in anything. Also as far as I know (but I might be wrong), using CWM doesn't raise the counter (famous yellow triangle indicator).
Hope I've help in any way
hi , actually I update my note gt-n7000 to gellybean but its worse update I ever had....i want to degrade me phone to gingerbread which I had previously used. but I had didn't find any single update available for my phone ON INTERNET which had same baseband i.e N7000DDLR1 , Build number i.e IMM76D.DDLRB, Android version 4.0.4 and kernel 3.0.15-1163394 [email protected] dell171 #3 SMP PREEMPT Mon Nov 5 17:29:14 KST 2012.......AND I had tried so many update from Sammobile.com by using Odin 3.0.4 but every time its useless for me.... can u help me to go to previous update..please help me...thank you.

Go to Here to read and find your answers. If you're still stuck, then ask again. Even though there a few custom roms that can be flashed through Odin, I suggest you avoid using it unless you want to flash stock firmwares.

Hello. Firstly, I'm sorry to say that I don't have much experience as mine came directly from ICS. I can suggest a long roundabout way which is to update your android vers. from GB To JB through Odin procedure first, then just flash philz safe kernel. and then flash any roms u want. Or if you just want stock JB, then u can download stock JB firmware n flash it through odin.
Edit : Go Here And watch the video and read. The link for the kernel provided includes CWM. After Installing CWM, you can directly flash philz safe kernel, reboot to recovery, do a clean wipe and formats (Follow OP of the rom you want to install)
