Hi there,
i would like to create an Resident Evil Umbrella Corporation style theme for our droids, perfect would be an animated Umbrella Corp Logo live wallpaper.
Could anyone create a live wallpaper from this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hzHcZabNGqw
Best would be if the Umbrella Corp letters on the left corner could disappear.
Thanks, would really be great
Download the video using any means.
Convert it to a bunch of images (pngs)
Use a batch rename program like (faststone) to rename em to 1.png,2.png,3.png....
Go in the nexus themes/apps section and look for my "Custom Lwp Script" or in market an app called Custom Lwp if i recall.
They both allow u to create lwp out of sequence of images.
Good Luck
Thanks for the hint
It gaves me 360 images in reduced quality, isn't maximum of images 300?

Hmm yes it is.
Either eliminate some while maintaining a smooth animation or get the app i was talking about from market "Custom Lwp" if i recall.

Reads the pictures from sd card, right? hmmm... not so good for card life, especially when running a desire hd rom which works half from sd, too.
i've notice that on the custom lwp it says that it must be the exact same size as the phone resolution but for live wallpapers like mariolive its scrollable would we be able to make scrollable LWP with this as well?
threads a little bit old but i was wondering if anyone knew how to convert a swf to individual png's frame by frame, searching google got me everything in reverse but nothing like i wanted

Quick version: no such thing.
Sent from my HDfied HTC Desire
and does anyone made it?
Actually pretty sure you can convert an swf to an avi and then convert that to individual pngs.
Avi to pngs can be done with gimp and the gap package.

Would drain your battery, but you can use Video Live Wallpaper.
Lets you set your own video as a live wallpaper.
as far as killing your SD Card, would you be able to push the files to your device internal storage?
Perhaps not, im not too familiar with your device.
Sorry if this doesn't work.
I went on the search for a boot animation and came across the Android BIOS versions available on the web. The only problem was the pictures weren't full screen, they were all for other devices and they were always in portait.
So, I decided to make my own. It is made specifically for the G-Tablet. All the text is correct for the unit. The screen size is correct and it is landscape.
Install:
copy bootanimation.zip to /system/media/ and restart tab.
Please click the "Thanks" button if you like this. Thanks!
Nice touches...
This also works pretty cool......
Now if I could get the RED EYE Live Wallpaper to work....
I've tried several "versions" and NO GO....
Duh, don't mind me. I didn't realize you said wallpaper.

I tried to copy the droid animation to /system/media/ but I get a copy failed message. Is there something special I need to do to paste into this folder?
Thanks
@rayden25 very nice, I had one like this on my G1 and X10 and have been to lazy to do it on my G-tablet. SO I will use the one you made, great work.

Ah, I figured it out after a bit of hunting. Seems that mine was located under /logodata/. It works now. It shows the Droid name, melts, and shows the Droid Red Eye.
Do some tablets put their system files in odd locations?

It works in either directory. You need to switch the /system/media/ directory to read/write from read only.

Thank you, I liked this boot on my dinc and just loaded thesame one on my gtab, I'm glad we now have one customized for our slate, thanks again
Sweet. I was looking for a tablet version of this yesterday.
U using adb? If not gotta use root manager mount the filesystem read/write instead of read only. I had the same issue.

Oh man... I can't believe I did that! That's in the animation too! LOL! I'll get around to fixing it one of these days.
Thanks guys! Both files are awesome. Placed them in logdata and all is good! Now it feels like an android device.
I installed it too and it look awesome!
However, I do have a question: Each time I (re)start my gTab, it first pops up with that ugly white screen with those viewsonic birds. This is the image I would preferably remove and replace with something fancier. Any idea how I do that?
There are two threads here in this section on how to do that. Both titles start with [Guide]. They should be on the first page.
Dancing Droid bootani
Has anyone tried the bootani from:
"http://droidpirate.com/category/tablets/viewsonic-gtablet/" , the one with "dancing" Droid? I tried it follwing their directions with RootExplorer and my Tab would not boot past the animation, which btw was very laggy!
Had to restore /system in CWM to get it to boot back up.
I want to make some custom "bootanims", since can't find many to fit our screen. Where would be a good place to start learning?

Killed my Vegan 5.1, too.
Sweet! I love it! I am going to do this once I have some free time. Thanks for all the hard work. Now I have to decide which one to use!
Thanks! I changed mine today. Appreciate it.
I've been looking around for some nice boot animations for my phone, and I thought: "Why should people go to more trouble than they need to, to find a boot animation?" So I thought I'd create a thread, and hope that people share their findings here and make things better for everyone!
So...who's gonna start the ball rolling?

Nah, the dump just has a bootanim with some "Andriod 3.0" crap from the recent Honeycomb conference.
I'm sure it wont be long before the real thing finds it's way to XDA though
The honeycomb boot animation reminds me of Smackdown Just Bring It on PS2. The game hat such grid animations in the back of the menu.
having some instructions on how to replace the file wouldn't harm anyone...
i have a tmobile logo at startup that i want to remove...cannot find it anywhere
32 bootanimations in UOT kitchen http://circle.glx.nl/
1. Choose option "No battery, theme only",
2. press next till bootanimation section
3. select desirable bootanimation
4 .press next till finish
5. wait for flashable zip (no need to upload anything)
Do they fit the DHD's screen?
Last time I tried a bootanim from UOT a few weeks ago it was too small and off-centre.
I think the Honeycomb bootanimation would be good for fast boot?

Yes you are right. My mistake I thought it was part of the animation yet I cannot find it anywhere.

Changing the boot animiation is easy.
Find a boot animation you like, download it, rename zip to bootanimation.zip and then use Root Explorer or ES File Explorer (in root mode) to replace the existing file in /data/local/
Back-up the file that's there 1st obviously, or do what I do and just rename it to bootanimation_orig.zip.
Changing the splash screen requires a different approach... but I already answered that for you here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=886467&page=8
Let's take advantage of this gorgeous screen and throw together some boot animations. Here are a few of my others that I've converted for our 540X960 display. The first thing you'll need to do is figure out where you're boot animation is and what it's called. You can figure this out a couple of ways, the easiest is just browsing the .zip of your ROM. You can also download a File Browser with root permission and look for it from your phone (you'll need a root file browser later anyway, I like Root Browser - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1338582) A lot of the ROMs that are floating around right now, based on an ATT build anyway, are going to be located at /system/customize/resource/ and will be called ATT_bootanimation.zip - note: there will probably be a bootanimation.zip here too. If so, that's OK. Leave it alone - If you don't have an ATT_bootanimation.zip, but only a bootanimation.zip, that's it. If it's not there, check /data/local/ for bootanimation.zip. It could be in a number of places, if you have trouble, let me know what ROM you're running and I'll take a look. Once you've found the location and name of your bootanimation, you'll need to download your new boot animation, and rename it to exactly what your current animation is called. Now it's probably a good idea to back up your current animation just in case something goes wrong, and the easiest way to do that is to browse to it via your File Browser, and rename it with a .bak extension at the end. Now copy/paste the new bootanimation (already renamed) to this directory. Now long press the bootanimation and choose Permissions. Set permissions to RW/R/R. Reboot and Enjoy the animation. IF your bootanimation is called ATT_bootanimation.zip and it's located at /system/customize/resource/, you can download the "Flashable" zip at the end of this, and using 7zip (http://www.7-zip.org/download.html), you can add the downloaded bootanimation (which you've already renamed to ATT_bootanimation) to system/customize/resource/ in the .zip, delete the "placeholder" file, put it on your SD, then flash through recovery. DO NOT FLASH THE "Flashable.zip" BY ITSELF. THERE'S NOTHING IN IT TO FLASH. ADD YOUR ANIMATION TO /system/customize/resource/ FIRST (If this is not where your bootanimation is located and you want a flashable .zip, let me know where the bootanimation is located and what it's called, and I'll throw one together for you). Taking requests... (youtube videos, animated .gifs, or other bootanimations, please. I am NO graphic artist) If anyone wants to know how to make your own, I put together a how to for a fellow Inspire user, with links to the softwares I use. Only difference would be anywhere you see 480 or 800 you would need to substitute for 540 and 960 respectively.

_calvinjohnson boot animation has been added to the folder with the rest. Here's a direct link http://www.mediafire.com/?s63tcwjqm10rb4s
Instructions in the first post still apply. Rename it to ATT_bootanimation.zip (or whatever your current animation is called), put in in the folder where your current bootanimation is, change permissions to match the other files in the folder, reboot. If your bootanimation is located at system/customize/resource/, then you can download flashable.zip from the first post, put ATT_bootanimation in system/customize/resource/ using WinRAR with store compression, flash in recovery.
