[SOLVED]Black screen but download comes - Galaxy Ace S5830 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all,
My friend dropped his ace recently and the screen blacks out occasionally, and his phone app started crashing. So i put it into download mode and flashed a stock gingerbread rom.
When i access download mode it shows on the screen, but stock recovery doesn't come up, just a black screen. And when i start it up i can't tell if it's stuck in a boot loop or its started up, and the battery gets hot.
Edit: figured it out.

Patience my friend patience, I spent around 5 hours to do it.
Go to download mode, flash stock rom with Odin. Then keep on trying to enter stock recovery (power+ home, then when Samsung comes release the power).
Once sick recovery does come, do a data wipe, and cache wipe. Then reboot.
You have to keep trying. Once i did the wipe after the flash, the screen off time reduced. His phone goes off, but it comes back after 1-2 minutes.

[Q] Stuck in a bootloop... HAALPPPP!!!

Hi all,
I recently got a samsung i9000 after owning an htc desire for a while.... I was more than happy with cm7 on the htc so i rooted etc and installed it on my galaxy... but it seems that its a bit more buggy on the i9000 port and i had loads of force closes and my phone was pretty unusable... so i then used clockwork recovery to install what i believed was the correct version of darky's rom 10.2 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=814091) and now im stuck in a bootloop... when i turn it on for 'normal' use, the original GALAXY S logo comes up (the one that says SAMSUNG at the bottom of the screen.... then it switches to the GALAXY S logo with cyanogen(mod) underneath it, then it restarts and im back to the original SAMSUNG logo.
I've tried to enter download mode (vol down, home then power) and when i do this, it just restarts with the original logo in a loop until i let go, then the cyanogen(mod) logo comes up.
Ive downloaded kies and odin to a fresh machine, but when i connect the phone over usb, I get the litter circular timer icon lighting up my phone for a few seconds, then the cyanogen(mod) screen comes up for a few seconds.... and then reboots....
Anyone got a way out for me? ive been without a phone for a few days and its really hurting now!
So you can't get into download mode??, did you flash back to stock rom before flashing Darky's? Because with CM7 a froyo bootloader is needed, and with Darky's a GB bootloader is needed. If you can get into recovery, go to mounts and storage, format system, data, cache, and datadata. Then pull battery out and try getting into download mode again Vol down + home + power. Report back dude

No I'm afraid not, their are two other things you could try....using adb booting into download mode from their....or a jig....that will force it into download mode, u in the UK??
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
I guess you need a jig to get into download mode. after that, try to flash to different ROMs and see if you have fix the problem.
If you internal sd card is physically damaged, try this method here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1188482
Yep, Im in the UK.... I dont think the internal sd is damaged as it was fine before flashing darkies rom... Ive not used adb to try and force a 'download mode' before.... handy link to a tute?
sorry for my brevety, im quickly writing this at work!

[Q] I think I've bricked my phone, please help!

I have had my i9305t rooted with CWM since day one, and it has always worked fine. Today I saw there was an AOKP build 5 available for the i9305, and stupidly I tried to flash it, forgetting I needed a specific local version. It didn't even try to install, because CWM recognised it was for the wrong version phone, so I restored the backup file I'd made with CWM. It said there was an MD5 mismatch, but it booted back up fine and I could set up the phone again, however it had reset to base. So I rebooted, got into recovery again, did a factory reset, wiped cache and dalvik, tried to restore again... no difference.
Not sure exactly when it happened, but I tried to boot into recovery again and it hung on the 'Samsung Galaxy SIII GT-I9305T' splash screen. So I turned it off and it booted up into Android again as per normal. In an attempt to fix recovery (at this stage I was considering just reflashing the stock rom), I downloaded CWM off the play store and used the 'Flash CWM recovery' option. It said it succeeded, so I tried booting into recovery again but it hung on the splash screen once again. So I turned it off, tried to boot normally into Android again, but it hung on the splash screen again!
Now it doesn't matter what I do, trying to boot into recovery or Android it gets stuck on that damned splash screen! I tried pulling out the battery and leaving it out for a good ten minutes, plugging it back in and booting it up, but again it gets stuck. If I leave it on the splash screen, there it will stay. It doesn't pulse, it doesn't move, it doesn't reset, it just hangs there indefinitely.
Please help! Is there anything I can do to recover it, or have I just got myself an expensive paperweight?

Volume Up is for Recovery Mode... Try same thing with Volume Down and it should enter Download Mode. Connect to PC and flash correct ROM via ODIN.. If this doesn't help try read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1946915

Derp... forgot it was volume down. Sorry guys, I am relatively new to rooting.
So I managed to get into download mode and successfully flashed the right CWM recovery via Odin. Got into recovery, so I decided to try flashing L335K1's DVALI6 build as I had been about to do before all this happened. It flashed fine and I am now back in full control of my phone! Thank Crom for that... and thank you for helping out a noob XDA!

Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 (SGH-i957) Soft Bricked...

I am looking for some serious help, I rooted my Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 4G LTE (SGH-i957) through the instructions that I found on this site by first installing Clockworkmode Recovery and then installing Jelly Bean 4.1.1 using Odin. Everything seemed to work fine with this, but then I decided to go one step further and load a over clocking kernel via Odin to increase my Processing speed. This process went fine through Odin and then after the auto reboot it all fell apart... the tablet will now only periodically display the first and second samsung logos and then just go blank or will display the battery icon with power off and plugged into the PC. Either way I have been unable to access the Boot screen or the Download screen...
IS THERE A FIX TO THIS? or am I just finished?
I have tried the "One Click Unbrick" program with no results and Odin intermittently recognizes the device is connected to the PC as the Tablet cycles through what appears to be an 1 second long boot up attempt.
Looking for someones brilliant idea haha...
Any and all help is greatly appreciated!!
Wrong section, but here goes. I'm no expert but Samsung devices are notoriously hard to eff up beyond fixing.
Can you get back into your recovery? I would do that, do all your normal wipes and reinstall a rom with its stock kernel.
If that doesn't work well then, I'd say Odin back to stock. If it's just a soft brick fixing it shouldn't be a problem.
Of course someone else who knows what they are doing could chime in here lol.

You flashed a hc kernel on a 4.x system. This is a gaurenteed soft brick. Just odin back to stock through download mode.

I would love to do exactly what your suggesting but I am so far unable to access the download mode using the pwr and vol keys as normal... also where can I get a stock kernel as I was looking for one for hours yesterday with no luck? Do you have any suggestions on how to re-access the download mode in my current situation. Thank you for you suggestions thus far!
If you have a complete TWRP backup from before you flashed the OC kernel, just reboot into recovery and restore boot. That'll replace the HC kernel with what you were running before. That'll save you the effort of going through the entire process again to get back to JB.

Thank you for your advice and at the current time I am unable to access the recovery/boot/download screens... if I could get to that then we are back in business... I am looking for suggestions on how to regain access to that area first and then I would like to follow the advice for you all from there the stock kernel direction first...

Thank you for your response, so far Odin only picks up the device for a second before it disappears again and keeps repeating the cycle over and over agian. It is as if the Tablet keeps attempting a reboot cycle but fails to initialize the booting process? I don't know if I am making any sense to all of you that are much smarter than I at the stuff.
I am trying to time the start of Odin to the point that when it connects to the device that it is also recognizing the device at the same time... Kinda poking in the dark here as I am out of solutions...
The tablet attempts a reboot every 45 SECS and it recognized for only 3 SECS... Thoughts??
You need to get it to stop rebooting and into download or recovery mode. Try every button combo possible. If you hold power down for ten seconds it should shut off

Hold down the volume button near the power button as it boots to get into download mode... the other volume button will take you to recovery.

I have tried every key combination possible with no results the only thing the tablet does is do a quick single vibrate just like it does when you power it on and it boots up just without the actual booting process... and when the tablet is plugged into the PC it displays the battery symbol with the star bright icon over it like its thinking about charging but to my knowledge does nothing beyond that as far as charging is concerned. But it does do the single vibrate once every 45 secs as if it was booting up and is recognized on the PC through Odin for only 3 secs... not sure where to go from here now??
Hold the volume buttons down don't just press them. Also try button combos but instead of hitting power plug your charger in and out to get it to reboot.

Desperate call for help!

I recently rooted my Galaxy Exhibit 4G and installed the unofficial CM10 ROM. After a while I realized how slow everything was working, so I decided to turn back. However, when I tried to recover my previous backup (rooted stock) it gave me the stupid md5 error. followed directions on how to fix it, but then I had problems recovering the system and data. I then turned to Odin, but it didn't help, and my phone now tries to start up, reaches the Galaxy Exhibit 4G logo, and then fails to load, and tries over again. I can still access odin mode, but recovery won't boot and just reboots the whole system.
Can anybody please help me? What can I do? I tried to follow directions on the forums, and on the wiki, but everything just got worse. I have nowhere else to turn
Why not install a flavor of Gingerbread like Peach Sunrise or...gosh, I forget our GB days!
Honestly, look at Slimbean and an OC kernel. They've given me personally the best performance I've seen on this phone, but even they will slow down after a while. I do a fresh install every few months when the lag gets atrocious, keeps the phone spic and span.
There's only so much you can do on 300 Mb of ram- even on Gingerbread.
Sounds like you will have to flash a recovery using Odin. Once in recovery then you can flash a rom. The reason your phone won't boot up is probably because it has nothing to boot into. Try cm7. I have been running it while waiting for my Lumia 521 to get here and it is amazingly fast. Fastest my phone has ever been.

If you are using stock recovery then when you see the recovery screen hit the menu key. It should make the screen dim a bit. You should reboot into recovery then where you can flash cwm.
