Thats why i check 100 times now before i share it
Recently saw on ebay very cheap mobo.

sorry to hear that fshami you are good to devving on this device

I just can't understand how this happens!
I installed on my device tons of unsucssesfull ports, crappy ports that i was working on, but in the worst scenario it freezez at HTC logo...
It should be a way to unbrick it, there is a way, as for jtag, there is a hard way... You need to dissassemble the phone, find the real JTag and flash the ROM directly to the memory, this usually renders the phone antenna useless on many phones, but there is a way. If the computer detects any activity of the phone when it is connected, then there should also be a way to revive it (there is one on Dell Streak 5, there was one on Nokia N95, and there are for many devices, those 2 are the ones i tested). Don't know for sure how to help, but i'm sure that something can be done, and changing the vold.stab through adb doesn't seem like the thing that will brick your device...
Just for the info, did you guys used S-OFF or not? , if yes, what variant of it
P.S: There is always a way, don't be lazy to state: srry, change mobo, as long as the physical parts ar intact, there is a way to unbrik it (i don't have a bricked phone but i will look into it)

There no other way to wake it up. Cuz this bricking the memory on mobo. That i hear fron my friend who's working in htc poland service.

Well, i really believe there is a way, as i don't think a software thingy can physically damage the memory of the device in such a way that it renders it useless, htc service or not, i'm a skeptic
Also, could you please tell me if you used S-OFF and or what variant of HBoot (1.25 or 1.28)
NOTE: I sent a PM to AdamOutler regarding this issue, he is a specialist in unbricking devices, so, we will know if something can be done, maybe he will need a device, a bricked one will do i think, so if some of you would want to send him one, if he accepts to work on it, it would be nice

Just as i thought... Because when you use S-ON you need to do some things from fastboot, and fastboot is pretty nice interface to brick your phone.
Because of this, use S-OFF, "God" made it for a reason

Maybe AdamOutler will like to give it a ride, if you would like to send it to him, if he accepts to make some unbricking thingy.
Or you can give to HTC and i will write a big HEADS-UP on my multi tool to warn people about possible bricking when using S-ON.

I had something similar last week. I have sent my phone to HTC for repair. My phone is 9 months old. I will see what HTC say about warranty.
It was S-Off with unlimited.io

S-Off without wiring method

I am considering S-off, but could someone please tell me if there is a way this can be done without having to use a wire?
Thanks
nope not yet
Thanks ... I guess I will give it a try
No you can not. It seems sketchy, I know lol, but after I did it Im glad I did and its not as hard as it seems. Just have to get the double tap wire just right.
I would have to tamper with that area that has the Void sticker right?

I never tried it because my phone was already s-off'ed but you may give it a read and try it out.
If you do let us know the results.
Unfortunately yes. My warranty sticker was already removed when I had the screen replaced so thats why I went ahead and did it. If you end up doing it, remember to use an sd card that you dont care loosing everything on it.
I also want to know the answer to this question, thanks for your reply.
Don't be afraid, the wire trick is very easy!!
I was going to do it but I cant see the pins, sucks getting old
The tip about using a sandwhich bag tie (metal wire twisty) was very helpful for me.
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using Tapatalk 2
I used the same thing as well. The paperclips I used to S-OFF a few Rezounds were too thick and made contact with the other pins. Thank goodness for sandwitch bag zip-ties.
I did it also n you can buy the stickers on eBay I know that cause I did it also n further more what the wire trick does in theory it power cycles the nand just like with the dhd aka inspire to allow the custom eng bootloader . HTC took out the loophole to allow the unlock tools to cause just the nand to reboot to allow this exploit on the phones firmware within the nand.

Hmm last thought I was not telling anyone to do that with the stickers I frankly don't care about att n there warrenties if u think about it when u used htcdev.com to unlock your phone they do report ur serial number of your phone back to HTC for any hardware related warrenty its in the fine print. [Q] Bootloader bricked, unbricking project?

hey guys,
i appear once again in need of help.
long story short, ran the RUU, phone proceeded to shut down,
never powered back up.
now i can't get it into bootloader,
although it is in QHSUSB_DLOAD mode.
Just asking if there is an unbricking project for this phone?
and is it worth sending this phone to HTC for repairs?
This phone is also suspected to have a dying/dead internal memory.
Cheers guys!
EDIT: did at least 20 battery pulls and it will not show charging light when plugged into wall.

I did a really quick search of HTC Motherboard replacement and it would cost over a $100 USD. In my opinion its not worth it unless you are gonna be using ure HTC Incredible S after you receive the Xperia Z. My recommendation would be to wait for those 2 weeks for the Xperia Z

Cm10

Hey there. New to the one and was wondering if there were any cm10 roms that can be flashed with s-on
Sent from my HTCONE using xda app-developers app
As far as I understand it, any ROM can be flashed s-on without issue on the One (caveat below). It's different than the 3D. But the revone method of s-off is super easy so it's worth doing (see my web signature for a link). Also, from my understanding, some people have bricked their Ones trying to flash AOSP ROMs. I think s-off people have better luck with it.

The Two That I know of and have done my self are Viper and cyanogenmod. I have not take the step to s off yet as I am very new to this and am learning before I do just as you described (Brick my phone). You can easily find these two ROMs here on this site.
ViperROM v1.1.0

CyangenMod
http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?type=nightly&device=m7spr
and that is where I got the ones I used as well.
It does matter which carrier you have as I made that mistake and was in bootloop which you dont want to do.
For information on that see this thread:

Bricking a phone would def suck! but i was under the impression, and maybe im wrong, that there is usually a way to fix it. Again im no pro but i kind of jumped into the whole rooting thing without knowing ANYTHING about it on my 3D and never seemed to mess it up more than having to flash a new RUU at worst. anyway i really love the IllusionRom. but cant seem to get google wallet to work, which is kind of a bummer. but i also really love Sense 5, and dont mind using stock one bit. I suggest going for it and checking everything out, more than likely you'll be fine. best of luck

A brick can never be recovered. It must be replaced. A BORK can pretty much always be fixed via ADB.
Also, I heard there was a workaround for the wallet issue. Just search it up. It has something to do with the build . prop.

Or if not ADB, judicious use of fastboot and RUU. I cut my teeth on a Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0, and after a three-month long recovery process, nothing the HTC One can pull is likely to faze me anymore.
Anyway, there are certain devices that can be recovered from a low-level brick (assuming by brick we're saying a device is completely non-responsive to input, hardware and software wise) but it's pretty involved at the best of times.

QHSUSB_DLOAD is Qualcomm High Speed USB Download mode. It is how HTC puts software onto the phone. A few phones have came back from in with no explanation as to why, but most are hard bricked. There is no know fix other than sending it to HTC. They will replace the phones main board and reflash it. It is not a warranty repair, so you'll have to pay for it.

There is a reason every developer includes a disclaimer with their software. You chose to unlock the bootloader, you chose to run modified software, and now it falls on you to accept responsibility for a bricked device. HTC may fall for that line, but I doubt it. The 4.2.2 updates been out for a while now and there have been no reports of it bricking phones, where as several devices running custom roms have had this happen. More than likely HTC will see through the bull**** story. But who am I to be your moral compass? Go ahead and give it a try. Let us know how it goes.

I wouldn't recommend JTAG on the One. The body is almost impossible to get apart without damaging it.

I have no idea, luckily I've never had to send a phone to HTC. Like I said, all you can do is send it in and see what happens.

Well your One is basically a fancy paperweight the way it is, and if they'll do it under warranty great. Two months is a long time, but at least its not $200.

[Q] My Inc S reboots automatically

Hi,
I am using JB 4.1.2 by szezso.
Everything work but my phone reboots automatically without me even touching it.
That happens quite often.
Any reason?
Thanks,
Arslan
This may be a little late post, but I found some papers in my HTC incs box...
It showed me this: auto-reboot issue...
The phone was still under warranty back then and has been replaced with another one...
I guess, if you still have warranty left... Just relock ur phone and bring it in... Or sell it as defect and buy a new one if u want...

err this is ROM related. He cannot send back a phone with a custom rom on it to claim warranty xD.
My Advice: Change ROMS.
