i never seen on any Xperia phone 2010/2011 and generally any phones with 2.6.29.6 kernel to be able to flash through CWM or with apps... I know that a lot of other phones have that option but we are stuck with flashtool. :/
actually the X10 has a KTG kernel that can be flashed through CWM and it's for locked bootloaders. DooMKerneL for locked bootloaders can also be flashed via CWM.

Kernel and recovery have to be seperated to make kernel flashable through recovery. But in our case, recovery is part of kernel so that is making some troubles I guess

Not at all, this is not a problem as long as we can install recovery at the stock kernel.

kernel and recovery can be separated easily. but that won't provide CWM flashable kernels. read my post (in this thread and the off-topic thread) or nAa's post in his interview.

As per my knowledge of uC (of cources with Atmel ones) ( new to ARM )
boot loader/ kernel boot is placed in special area of the non volatile memory and kernel calls the /system to boot.
Here in case of custom kernels , CWM is just embedded into kernel like a system functions which is called when recovery is evocked, allowing the kernel to perform read / write on to permitted partions like /system and others. but it does not provide access to the boot loader area.
Please let me knwo if I understand the things correctly in situation with ARM and andriod.
Cheers!

This is flashable through cwm recovery. If you want to use it in mobile odin, extract the "zImage" file from the zip, put it to your sdcard and show it in mobile odin.

well forgive me i forgot to add a question mark at the end of the sentence but eventually my sentence started with "is" so apparently it is most likely a question. i was just asking if this is the same kernel that has a bug?
this is what's written:
Kernels that are likely affected - it's too early to be sure:
XXLPY official ICS release for the Samsung Galaxy Note (thanks to Chasmodo for sacrificing his device to find this out) - One hardbrick has been reported in the past few days, others say it's safe, use at your own risk! In my opinion one hardbrick is enough not to trust it.

It's CWM 5.5.0.4 on STOCK KERNEL!!! Does not change your kernel..Try to flash it via stock recovery and reboot...if you see any error messages, report it back to me......currently it is still in alpha stage, so not sure that everything works...looking for brave testers here!

Hello everyone,
I'm are proud to bring you the latest rooted kernels based on samsung stock kernels that you may find in ROMs by Samsung.
Why should i use this kernel?
My kernels are uber-minimal modification of stock kernel used only for rooting (no custom recovery is installed). So the kernel it's like stock just rooted, and there is small chance (or any chance) that it will be detected as modified by service center at the first look
Please find latest of kernels listed below:
*NEW* ROOTED! I9300XXELLB - Jelly Bean (4.1.2) - CL: 748978 - B.Date: 26.12.2012 - Download HERE!
[uname: Linux version 3.0.31-748978 () (gcc version 4.4.3 (GCC) ) #1 SMP PREEMPT Wed Dec 26 15:40:05 KST 2012]
Instructions:
1. Flash tar file of choosen kernel using Odin
2. Profit!
What's included in this kernel
- Base image of kernel is 100% pure stock by samsung
- adbd in insecure mode (so adb shell will be automatically connected with root priviliges)
Nothing more, nothing less - Enjoy!
If you like my modifications, support me with even a little donation for a beer -> Click to donate!
WARNING: Flashing this kernel will pop-up your custom binary counter! (as when rooting )
Enjoy!

Personally I always thought original means ORIGINALly YOURs (you are the author, not copied), not original Samsung....
But. .. maybe mistaken. ..
Variety makes this forum better anyway. ..
Kernel base is 100% oryginal, its not recompiled or compiled from sources, so in that meaning its 100% STOCK KERNEL.
Insecure kernels have modded adbd and other settings needed to run is as root in INITRAMFS of kernel.
This make it ROOTED STOCK KERNEL 100%

You're mixing up the meaning of original, this section if for original works in the meaning they are made by users (Compiled kernel/ROM/program), not original in the sense as the manufacturer delivers them. It's written in the sticky in the development forum or in the portal post. Repacking kernels isn't original development. Read.

Actually yes it is confirmed it's in the kernel because we have the kernel code and patch regarding the issue.
Something else?
Sorry for misleading, i didnt noticed the topic with patch, i cant track everyhing.
this thread is about insecure kernel mod not a patch for death of SGS, so please no more offtopic here.
Insecure kernels are stock base (zImage is not modified) kernel with modded initramfs, where STOCK means no "tweaks" in kernel code was made. All insecure kernels works like this so i dont see a point of bashing me for saying its STOCK cause base of kernel is.
I asked mod to clean the thread.
A
And I've said it's not an original work as how you wrote in big capital letters claiming it is. Why are you replying to me about what a (insecure) stock kernel is?
AdamLange said:

Why? It's a development discussion. You can't just go ask a moderator to delete things every time because somebody else is correcting you. That's bothering and abusing moderators.
it is original work. its modded initram by me , base is stock. if you dont like it, dont use it. if you dont like my reference to stock, then dont like it, i dont care.
I asked to clean the thread because you are not discussing, just attacking my work.
I have moved the thread to the Development Forum.
Can the arguments stop now please?
Keep it on topic or leave the thread alone.

If you have followed the instructions correctly then the most common problem is that you are not on eclair(2.1), but donut(1.6). Go to settings>about (or "about phone") and see the "baseband". If it doesn't end in 015 (xxx015) then that's what causing the problem.
Follow this guide to get to eclair (2.1) and try one more time to flash a custom rom, hopefully this time it will work:fingers-crossed:.

Yeah, that's normal, custom kernels don't work with stock rom.
Don't let the phone to start.
Boot into CWM (while on kernel logo hit the back button repeatedly) and install the rom. Also make sure to full-wipe, follow the installation instructions.

Mate, you are contradicting yourself.
At first you mentioned that you had soft-brick while flashing the rom, then you mentioned that you had problems while flashing the kernel.
At first you mentioned that you had stuck at the logo, then that you don't see the logo.
Lets make things clear, have you followed the installation instructions?
What have you done exactly and were is your problem?
Have you ever booted on CWM?
If you read my first post again then you will find a guide about how to revive your x8 from soft brick, use it.

If you mean the one that you can download from cm site then I think its better to consider flashing another cm7-based rom as there are better options.(like gingerdx, minicm, etc)

Generally speaking, you will find this info at the first post of the rom's thread you want to flash.
Typical procedure for cm7 based roms is the following:
flash kernel(if the rom requires stock kernel you just skip this step, in other cases you flash the kernel that the rom works with)
boot into cwm
full-wipe(factory reset, wipe dalvik cache)(no need to wipe battery stats unless you have a problem with the battery percentage)
flash rom
(optional)flash gapps
first boot may take up to 2 minutes...
Ok..thanks... have you any suggestions for me but for roms with stock kernel...
