[Q] Is warranty void if I have ClockWorkMod Recovery? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have this exact same problem with my Galaxy Note GTN7000. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1692582.
Don't know what it's called. Soft-bricked? hard-bricked? But I was able to reset the binary count to 0 and in Odin Mode it says, CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD : NO and CURRENT BINARY : SAMSUNG OFFICIAL.
But when I go into recovery, it is ClockWorkMod Recovery and not the stock recovery. Can I still get warranty? What can I do to get rid of CWM recovery and get stock recovery back and also keep binary count 0?
Please help me

Anything that isnt official samsung will void warranty.
What you can do is flash a stock firmware via ODIN and job done, That will not increase binary count, Binary count raises when flashing kernels via ODIN.
Or better still, If you can just find stock kernel for ODIN, then just flash that as that will contain stock recovery too.

Thanks a lot for that I tried to flash a stock ROM and since mine's bricked, it was unsuccessful.
Now I get this message on switching on - Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again.
And now I can't seem to open in recovery mode. In Odin MODE, custom binary download says NO and current binary is Samsung OFFICIAL.
So is that good enough to get warranty?

If its not booting into recovery then yes, you should be fine, They wont suspect nothing if the binary count is 0 and there is no yellow triangle.
Just say there was an OTA update and this is what happened after it installed.
They will just simply see the kies message, plug it into their computer and flash latest software, then return it to you

Flash stock rom with pc odin.
That will give you everything as stock, recovery, baseband, kernel without binary counter raise

dude .. hes not able to flash the stock rom.. any how.. if you are not able to boot into recovery... then u are good to go...

download your stock rom using samfirmware and flash using odin.
if you have doubts search google how to go back to stock kernel you will find videos

Guys he already got his answer.
No need to repeat over and over the same thing paraphrased.

well the phone wont boot into recovery mode, only into download mode so i guess i have to do it through odin.
but would doing it through odin increase the binery count?
sometimes yes sometimes no
however if you do get the binary count and yellow triangle, You can use Chainfire's Triangle Away app, I used it this morning, worked perfectly.

It's being returned because it won't boot up, stock Rom and kernel, ics. No I can't boot into recovery, which is why I wanted to know about cwm
well if its all stock, leave it and return it, dont bother trying to fix it lol let samsung fix it or maybe even replace it

[Q] Galaxy Note Help Please!

Hi everyone, I was running stock ICS 4.0.3.
I rooted device using CWM.zip and installed SuperSU file.
I then downloaded crickelo custom rom and tried to install using cwm. It would just hang on installing bit so i did factory wipe/reset. Then my phone rebooted to samsung boot logo and went into a loop. can anyone help me as i can only get into download mode, and when i try flash a rom it gets stuck on factoryfs part like near the end. Do i need to wait for odin to do its bit and roughly how long does it take to copy a rom to the galaxy note using odin?
Im a noob so all help will be appreciated
PC-Odin takes max 6-7 minutes to flash a ROM.
Hi im trying to pc odin but it looks like rom is stuck at 95%. how long shall i wait?
before you do somthing else with the phone please read this link first to make sure you on right track:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1659768
If odin gives a fail at factoryfs write, you probably got your eMMC busted. Happens on stock ICS kernels when you wipe via cwm. Go through the 12th post at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1661590
If your note is under warranty and your.custom rom shows no and binary count is zero, take it to samsung service center and tell them that the phone doesnt start after the upgrade. Tell them that you were on GB and upgraded to ICS. Dont tell them of custom roms and kernels.
Samsung ICS has this eMMC brick bug, so they would replace the mother board under warranty if.your binary count shows zero.
If ur binary count is up, you can flash angelom kernel, boot into its recovery and then boot into the download mode to check the count. Else boot into recovery and then download mode again.
Angelom resets the binary count. But dont stay on it, it can potentially hard brick your phone.
If the count is zero, you can boot your region's stock kernel and then take it for warranty.
Ive flashed angelom kernel and its reset my binary count. All i get now is samsung logo? can i do anything else? ive booked in a repair with samsung. Shall i send it in?
If your able to get into Download mode and the phone still powers up (even though it doesnt complete booting) Then i doubt its hardbricked as it would show no signs of life at all.
Have you tried flashing back to a full GB firmware with ODIN ? GB is the best firmware to revert to when you get serious issues.
can you send me link to gb rom to install? and any additional files etc. Ive tried flashing but it gets stuck on factoryfs, like 95% is complete and the last bit dont appear to move? how long does it roughly take to flash rom? im a noob so if anyone can guide me through step by step il appreciate it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
Download it, Load it into ODIN, Put phone in DL Mode, Hit start
Job done
which rom do i download? 2.3.6 gingerbread
Because it stops at the factoryfs write, your phone has the eMMC bug. Your eMMC memory has been corrupted by the wipe that you performed in recovery.
Just download a stock kernel for your region and flash it via pc odin. Do not flash the full ROM, GB or ICS, it will freeze at factoryfs write.
Flash a stock kernel and give it to Samsung.

i doubt it would help.
if you have flash counter, you cannot claim warranty. the only way for you to claim warranty is to purposely brick your phone.

Any idea what your original stock kernel version was and which kernel are you on? Did you flash anything after angelom kernel?
---------- Post added at 11:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:25 PM ----------
This is the link to xxlc1 GB kernel. It is the Open european kernel.
Flash it before you send the phone to samsung. Do not tell them anything about custom kernels or roms. Just tell them that your phone booted while upgrading and it didnt start after that. I am stressing it again... Just make sure your binary count is zero and rom shows stock. They will repair under warranty.
Hi ive flashed the stock kernel lc1. My binary download is zero and current binary reads samsung official. that should be ok yes? i was on stock ics 4.0.3 lpt version i think. Shall i flash a rom and then pull battery out as ive told samsung my phone reads firmware upgrade encountered an issue etc.
At the minute after flashing the lc1 kernel, i see the samsung boot screen only. will that make a difference? anyone know how long will they take to repair my phone? and will they replace motherboard hence give me a new imei number?
can anyone tell me how to re partition the galaxy note so i can maybe load a rom on it..? at moment it will copy 95% on odin factoryfs.. and thats it.
any help appreciated x

After flashing through Odin, allow it to reboot the device. Odin will boot the phone, after the flashing process is success. So just try once again.

Its probably not a hard brick, because you still get the Download Mode/Recovery. Anyways you would've got more replies if you had posted it in Galaxy Note GT-N7000 forums, as it is more kind of device-specific question.

Mother of all thread is given below.
Just use PC ODIN, download your region file and get your phone to stock.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
Or check Ketan signature and download the pre-rooted rom and install the same. Once rooted you can update your kernal to Hydracore and then proceed with any wipe and install.
If post flashing the stock using ODIN is stuck in boot, you potentially have a hard brick which requires mother board replacement.
Take it to samsung service and if under warranty they will replace the MB for free.

Soft bricked i9305, stuck on samsung logo, please help

I belive I soft bricked my i9305 when I tried to install Chainfire3D. I get stuck on the samsung logo but I can still access recovery. I did a CWM backup in Rom manager before it soft bricked but I cant access the backup from the default Recovery and I never flashed into CWM Recovery. So I wonder if I can flash CWM recovery from default recovery so I can reach my backup. Factory reset did not help, still stuck on Samsung logo. I tried flashing 2 roms but I get a error message E:Failed to verify whoe-file signature, E: signature verification failed. I can also add that I did not use Odin to root my device, I used Framaroot. I have no idea what my region number is and such so I'm not sure I can flash the stock rom ether.
Any kind of help is appreciated.

You can not flash a custom rom or a custom recovery from the default recovery, use odin to flash clockworkmod recovery.

A good idea would be for you to read the basic faqs and guides first .
ODIN and Root have nothing at all to do with entering download mode .
No download mode means you require a service centre repair .

I can not enter adb shell ether because I never had the chance to enable usb debugging. Is service center really the only way? I can still install files from default recovery.
yes. sadly service center is the only option you have now

I flashed stock rom that I downloaded from sammobile through odin. I want to thank you guys so much for helping me out, it wasn't a easy road. Chainfire 3D ruined everything for me but I should have been more careful with installing that. [Q] Galaxy Note N7000 Firmware Error

Hi all..
My friend encountered this issue recently..
where the phone cannot be started and the firmware error appears.
I've tried several attemps on recovering it back.
1. it cannot go into stock recovery mode
2. it can go into download mode
so i've tried to flash thru odin:
1) philztouch custom recovery
2) stock rom jelly bean from sammobile.com
both attemps failed.
so my next move is to connect thru kies.
it failed again as it does not detect the device to do the emergency phone recovery.
so now im in the idea of trying to flash custom recovery again and a custom rom. do not know whether it works or not, but ill try.
any other solutions/ideas?
Thanks.

If you cannot get the rom to flash.... You have to go through the philz kernel using odin.. Try to flash philz kernel xxlta version again using odin. Make sure you remove the battery for a couple of seconds. Then boot into odin mode. Use main USB ports and genuine USB cable.
