Hello guys, I got myself a SU660 and my question is that should I update it to ICS? I have the following questions
Do we have an official update? How to install it
Does it have any wifi issues (I saw a thread)?
How is the battery timing, better or worse then 2.3?
Should I go for it?
Also tell me the necessary safety steps before I try messing it up,I am new to all this.

Hey guys, i dont know if i posted in the right place but here it goes......
Ok so i jus got the lg optimus black p970 and first thing was first to upgrade as told by t-mobile i could upgrade to 2.3.....
Ok so i use the lg updating software on pc and it says i was being updated from 1.6 -2.1 although in (about phone) it says 2.2.2 bfore and after the s/w upgrade :s
So to cut it short i want to upgrade to 2.3 and i hear i need custom rom and root (only ever used super one click for galaxy tab) meaning lack of exp rooting lg....
will the gingerbreak root work for the lg thats not on 2.3 and is there a solid walkthrough about that you guys can link me too so i can fully understand what i am doing......what i have found doesnt explain much and i dare not risk it....
Thanks in advance

If you want to root your LG P970 than u should use gingerbreak. There is a really nice topic made by Noejn explaining how to do it in the android development section of Black forum. There are no custom rom's yet but I think that they will appear in a short period.

Gingerbread update still hasn't been released by LG for the Optimus Black. What the T-mobile rep might have meant is that the LG Optimus Black is upgradeable to 2.3, which it is. It's just that the Android 2.3 update still isn't available yet for the OB.
Once custom ROMs are made based on AOSP 2.3 or CyanogenMod, then you can have Gingerbread for your OB.
LG might be releasing the official Gingerbread update on September based on this thread: http://android.modaco.com/content/lg-optimus-black-black-modaco-com/342281/2-3-gigerbread-official-release/
Just wanna inform you guys that gingerbread upgrade in the Philippines has arrived.
I upgraded accidentally when I was playing with the software update tool
Version 2.3.4
Kernel : 2.6.35
Build number: GRJ22
Software version: LG-P970-V20b
Kumusta Kabayan!
I'm tempted to flash this Official Update. The advantage is to relive myself from endless forum checks for custom ROM updates not to mention the Nightly CM MOD. Unless somebody can point me a convincing advantage of having my P970 rooted, i will have to push through with this official update.
I know Rooting allows us to get rid of Bloatwares.. well, that sounds convincing. What else? What are the important softwares that can't run unless rooted?
Sir tantrums,
What has changed after the software update?
Please post some photos of the newly updated phone.
Thanks a lot.
when 2.3.4 published for OB in IRAN?
hi
please any body tell me when 2.3.4 published for OB in IRAN?

My primary reason in rooting ia also to get rid of bloatwares. Also to try other Roms.

Hi all(and kabayans )! Can anybody kindly direct me to the location of a V20C for LG-P970. I still have a V10C and I think only V20C would work for my unit...I think
All versions will work for you, but some only have some translations in it. There is no v20c as far as I know. In your case I would either go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1480392 And grab the rooted Version, or already root your phone and install Zeus ROM, should also include your translation.
thanx for the info, bro. i'll check it out...

Mga kabayan!, can we post the official GB firmware for Philippines? and play with it.
Mga kabayan! can you suggest the best rom to be used in the philippines? Marvel or zeus?
Zeus is best but it has stability problems since Huexxx started tweaking the kernel after version 3. I stayed with version 3 and no problem so far. There's also a Marvel ROM by our kabayan. It just removed bloatwares and not deeply tweaked so probably lesser bugs.
Hello Guys,
starting with a ton of thanks to all of you, that let this place be the wonderful place it is for people looking for some news and advices etc. etc. etc.
and absolutly sorry in advance if i havent find what i'm looking for, boring people with the noob thread, but that's it, i've a couple of questions.
i finally got my LG Thrill 4G and i live in Italy and quite everything is working fine with the stock rom, but i've yet customized my old (bad) Motorola Backflip with a GB Rom,and i would like to test some customized Rom,but for example is hard to find the Rom, cause dead links, and i have a couple of questions:
1-i've rooted the phone and installed the CWM (and it works, cause i accidentally delete some system file and done a restore with a saved backup through the recovery) i've also downloaded from market the Rom manager ,but doesn't recognized my recovery and ask me again to flash the cwm, but it shows just the Optimus v and the Optimus 2x options not the thrill or the O3D. so the question is, how is it possible that it doesn't recognize it? is a problem between the download from the market,i'm pretty sure to have followed instructions in the right way, cause it works. why there isn't the right choiche for the thrill?some suggestions? Thanks in Advance
2-i'm in Italy so i can't use a lot of bloat like every kind of at&t stuff and i was wondering if ,like for the Rom customized, there is a way just to trash all of this things i never use, cause sometimes i received message you cant trash it.
there is a particolar procedur to follow to don't lose some system file uninstalling them?
and finally the third
i've seen that some of the Rom of the O3D i can use on the thrill, there some problems with the radio,or some advice in using an "european" Rom in an usa phone?
thanks to all
Return it as quick as you can..i'm serious

It's a fantastic phone as far as hardware. The majority of us are a bit bitter over the lack of software support from manufacturer/carrier in the US. If you have the 30 day return policy, I'd give the phone a chance.
I really like mine. Stick with the stock ROM, just remove all of the bloat ware. Other ROMS aren't ready yet. Maybe they never will be, but at least stock works.
I used the Galaxy One-Click Root program and(yes it worked) then removed all of the garbage AT&T junked it up with. Runs great other than the camera acting wonky every now and again. I agree about staying with official build rom. As bad as I want Gingerbread, I'm not wanting the headache of what works, and what doesn't work.

i think it too , and here in italy we dont' have a policy like this, here the O3D costs about 600 euros, and is really not affordable.
but in any case i've got mine and i'm really happy with it.
just the battery is a bit sad,but nothing major looking at galaxy s2 or other smartphone.
i'm very glad about it.

What i was trying to say is that i would like to restore a backup
Made on stock rom in a customized rom,is possible?
i've solved the md5 mismatch thanks to the procedure.
But now i have again my stock rom, with battery sucking a lot
And bloatware,some suggestions?

extended battery (haven't tried it, though)
Another silly question:
I've tested a couple of roms and i'm trying using a O3D,but i've read that GB Roms have 3d issues.
Wich is one Froyo based Rom that goes fast and stable, without battery draining and can still use 3d and hdmi?
If i update the baseband to GB,i can restore or install Froyo Roms, without change it?
Many thanks to all.
P.s.
Just to let you know, in Italy,on my thrill,
Thriller, and Thrill_seeker are good, but also the doomed Froyo.
The stock Rom of O3D is good too,but still drain batt.
Thanks to all.
Stavo pensando se c'e' bisogno di qualche traduzione in italiano per i miei compaesani, che come me hanno acquistato un bel Thrill.
Saluti.

Please use clear titles to describe your problem. As a large forum we don't need unnecessary clutter, so please post in an existing thread so the information is not dispersed. Thanks.
1. Search before posting.
Use one of our search functions before posting, whether you have a question or something new to share, it's very likely someone already asked that question or shared that news.
3. Post only using a clear subject and message.
You're most likely to receive a helpful answer to your question if you use a short subject title that describes your problem and a message that explains in detail what your problem is and what you've tried to solve it.

Hi guys, this is my device, already as a XDA rom :good:
Any advice to update/upgrade?
Another question, maybe a stupid one. I've bought the tables with the xda rom as you can see in the image, there's no dialer to make a call.
Is this normal? I know this is a tablet, not a phone, but ...
Thank you for your support.

It's a tablet not a phone soe yes no dialer.
And as for upgrading try Rs roms, or the CM9 nightly.
While we are waiting on official 4.0.4 just have fun with it.

Really need some help / Advise here.
My tablet had some problems and stop working. With the help of some posts in this forum I was able to flash the stock rom and now I've ICS 4.0.4.
But ... I've many freezes and blocks.
Guys, what's the best rom at this moment, with everything working?
Thank you ALL
I use CM9 experimental from Droid basement. It is quite stable and everything works for most people (including the phone!).

I've read that it is better than the stock ICS.
The phone? You mean that I can make phone calls from the tablet?

Lol, Yes. This one too. But there's a lot to learn.
I've read somewhere that tablets don't make phone calls, that's why I'm confuse now.
It can be a bit confusing trying to keep track of all the developments on the Galaxy tab.
Right now the latest experimental CM9 rom has the ability (when used with the right modem) to make calls.
You have said that you are a bit worried about using beta stuff so it might not be for you - if you want the latest official build then go back to the stock 3.0.1 and follow the official upgrades. You should end up with the latest official ICS ...
Otherwise the only alternative is to put up with the inconvenience associated with development and learn quick to have the leading edge options.
If you are interested then my advice is to go with the experimental CM9 rom and load the I9100XXLQ3 modem. The experimental ROM has the voice_enable functionality built in.
Hello,
I'm currently on CM7.2 but i want full HW support...
How do i upgrade from CM7.2 to this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1959545
Please don't use abbreviations of stuff which i obviously wont understand, RIL? I see that in pretty much every XDA thread but am clueless as to what it is? haha
And will this work perfectly for my optimus 2X P990 on the Network 3 UK?
Seriously, Massive noob to this, only owned this phone for a week and only had blackberries before, Currently only know how to ROOT, install roms and kernels...
Thank you, Jamie
you're using CM 7.2 right?? so it means, at least you know how to flash via CWM.
then, you just need to follow all the steps thoroughly : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=33361808&postcount=2
