I've just switched from an Atrix 2 that I used for a few weeks after I got tired of my Atrix 4G rebooting multiple times a day, to an Atrix HD. The only thing I hated about the Atrix 2 was its finickiness with SD cards. I have a Patriot 32GB class 10 that worked fine in my Atrix for around a year and a half, but the Atrix 2 would always remount it RO and I'd have to go in with Root Explorer and remount it RW.
Is the Atrix HD finicky about SD cards? Or did Moto get it right like they did with the Atrix? What have your experiences been?
Never had any issues with sd card mounting or such. I think it could be you got a defect Atrix 2 and not all A2 with those issues.

I guess I should have been more explicit. I've problems with class 10 cards. I have also read in a number of places that the Atrix 2 has problems with class 10 cards. Examples here on XDA:

I'm using 16gb Team microsd card class 10 on my Atrix HD since the day I bought it and never had any issues. So,I think newer phone could be free of sd card class issues. I got sd issue while I was using Defy and they have solved it now by some patches to the rom.

I had an Atrix 2 prior to the HD so I know of this issue you speak of. However, the Atrix HD does not have this problem. I'm currently using a class 10 32 GB SanDisk card.

I've been using a Lexar 32GB class 10 in my HD since I got it, ~10 days, and no issues. It's the same card I used in my Atrix w/o issues, but that would constantly be remounted read-only on my Atrix 2.

I have done 32 GB but not 64 GB. 32 GB works nicely.

I would also like to know this bit of information. I've done 32 before with no problems. I'm curious about the 64.
I just successfully mounted a 64gb sandisk mircosd I got off of amazon. It was a little tricky getting the phone to recognize it (I had to use minitools to reformat it to FAT32), but I got it working.
I'm running the latest CM10 nightly and semaphore (I also tried it with devil kernel and it was working).
That's great news. You remember which card/class it was? What is the standard card file system? I want it to be compatible with my tablet too.

Oh sorry, I thought I had posted it. It is a SanDisk Ultra 64 GB microSDXC Class 10 UHS-1. It is supposed to use exFAT, which is what Windows will format it to, but my phone can't recognize it. Maybe newer android devices can, I'm not sure. I have an AT&T Captivate (Galaxy S), so it's a little on the old side nowadays.
I've acquired a 32Gb SD card (class 6) for my Galaxy Note (N7000) but I'm wondering if it could be a good idea to partition it into 2/3/4 logical 'drives' og keep it as one ?
The reason for splitting it up could/should be faster indexing on the phone (I'm not sure but may be one big 32G with a lot of files takes more time to scan/index ?)`also the sector size is probably bigger,'wasting' space with many smaller files (like .mp3 music files ..)
Let me hear your best recommendations or experiences.
Thanks :good:
I for one want the largest fastest available and currently have a 32G class 10. My next will be a 64G which should be faster. I would recommend class 10 and leave it at one partition. I would myself get frustrated with multiple drives and having to set different defaults for different apps.

64gb seem to be the most popular, thus making it look like more complaints are being given. I just formatted my 64gb card to fat32 as the exfat file system seems to be problematic on our devices.

There was a problem with the chipset used, it has been rectified now.
So what is the real problem exactly? If it is the chip set problem, wouldn't those cards affected still be in circulation?
I'm contemplating getting one myself but I'm leaning towards Samsung ones as well just to be on the safe side.

No, the difference mainly comes when trying to run a ROM off of the SD. It runs slower. But it also sometimes does not work well for use as a boot CWM card. It may refuse to boot. And lastly, it sometimes will give i/o errors when used as a normal SD and may take more than one attempt to read or write. But that is less troublesome than the first two issues.

It has to do with small file read/write speed, which class 4 does better than class 10. There is a whole thread devoted to this on the Nook Color forum. It still applies to the HD/HD+ too. See here:

Don't get the micro center brand, though, they're not as good - quite bad actually. Get the SanDisk brand. I I had the micro center brand when I first started, and had to return it for the SanDisk. Not sure what the difference is, but it was significantly faster after I made the switch.
Now I'm running on EMMC so it doesn't matter that much. But if you plan on running the ROM on the card, get the SanDisk.

I've actually sent back my hd for hd+ and now have an option of buying a Samsung class 6 shown here: http://slickdeals.net/permadeal/115836/shnoop---3-pack-of-16gb-samsung-class-6-microsd-memory-cards
Would that particular SD card be suitable? I actually will be using all 3 of them so the price isn't bad at all for my needs, but I'm not sure how well these class 6 do on random write. My new hd+ does have 32 go of storage so I suppose I should just install to internal but I'd like to have both stock and custom rom available
