I've put this thread here to give you guys a variety of music players that you can use. I, like many of you, don't like using the stock music player because it hasn't got the ability to customize it the way we'd like, so we'd like more of a choice. So rather than having to find them all over the place, I will keep everything here in one place.
If you notice any information in this guide which is incorrect, or any bad links, let me know and I'll fix it as soon as possible. Also, I know that there are a load that aren't on this list, so if there are some which aren't on the list but you think they should be, let me know and I'll look into them and update the list.

Ever since it was released, I have been trying to use Google Music to synchronize and manage my music collection, in addition to the third party DoubleTwist player for local music. When I first opened the app, it became clear that Apollo is all about simplicity. There are only two main parts of the app: the music navigation screen and now playing screen. The music navigation screen itself has three main parts: a top navigation panel, main content display in the middle, and the now playing bar at the bottom. The top navigation bar contains the different tabs that you swipe left or right to navigate through, including “Recent,” “Artists,” “Albums,” “Songs,” “Playlists,” and “Genres.” Sensibly enough, the content display panel in the middle contains a list of the content in whatever tab you select, with the “Artists” and “Albums” tab sprucing things up a bit with almost Metro-like displays of album artwork. At the bottom of the screen, the now playing tab shows you what song is currently playing with the option to favorite it, as well as the search and menu buttons.
Moving on to the now playing screen, the simplicity and clean style of Apollo are still evident. The favorite, search, and menu buttons on the top and standard music buttons like play and shuffle on the bottom flank a large album art display. While this might not be the best setup for showing information about the song or detailed settings, it does look very clean and simple, and the basic controls you will need are all there. Also, at least in CyanogenMod Apollo also supports a notification bar widget with music controls as well as a lockscreen widget with controls by default, something most other unofficial music players don’t.
However, it seems that Apollo may have carried their policy of simplicity in the interface a bit too far, as Apollo has a fairly basic list of extra features. In addition to the most basic music playing duties, Apollo will also scrobble and favorite tracks for Last.fm, plug into the stock CyanogenMod EQ/DSP Manager app and Android share menu, and work with a few themes. This means that the settings menu currently only houses an options to change themes, and users running Apollo without DSP Manager installed might be out of luck in terms of EQ.

good thread, but can you please add more details,
which one of those has self media scanning capability (doesn't depends on android mediascanner)
because on some JB for some devices on some people, the default mediascanner doesn't work, resulting blank list on music player and gallery
and that can be solved by using third party music player...
one of which I know are PowerAmp, but it's paid app
edit: I found out that TTPod is helpful for CM10 users that has problem with mediascanning

Dear All,
I have been a leecher to this amazing community and recently was looking for a music player which had visualization like in Winamp. Did find mobile version of Winamp but without visualization, so thought of making one.
This is not full and final, needs lots of work to be done but is pretty usable as is. I have disabled visualization by default and can be enabled.
Feedback is more than welcome
Known Issues:
1. Visualization Screen tends to hang up if the window is minimized few times.
2. Entries in the Playlist cannot be removed as of now.
3. When browsing to add a folder please keep in mind that the folder you are in will be added!
Requirements:
1. I have tested it on my eXpo and should work find on any WVGA device.
2. 3.5 Framework
3. Faster the CPU better will be the performance.
P.S. "Sur" means Rhythm in Hindi.

Is there any good media player (for music and video) out there for the Xperia? I hate the Windows Media Player because it is a little laggy and I cannot, for some reason, control the volume at all (I tap the + and - and the hardware button for the volume control, but the volume stays that same). I also have WOW SRS HD installed so I assume that and media application should work with it?

Hi all,
Recently bought a P9 and having an issue using music controls on the lockscreen. The only music app that seems to work with the EMUI lockscreen is the official Huawei Music Player. Every music players (including both streaming and local music players - I've tried almost every music app on the play store) lockscreen controls seem to be absent.
Can anyone help?
