[Q] Need help to uninstall kernel. Phone is stuck on single kernel - XPERIA X8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I just installed Jelly bean latest kernel with its latest Rom Beta 2. After a while I wanted to change to latest nAn kernel and install a new rom that supports nAn kernel, when i tried to flash this kernel I was just getting a white led on my phone not even able to go in Xrecovery. When i installed the jelly bean kernel everything is normal again. I also saw the uninstall procedures to flash stock kernel which i did the result i got is, Iam just stuck at the sony boot logo no reactions further. Please someone help me to uninstall a kernel and go back to stock kernel with rom installed so that i can change my kernel again. Also let me know if my boot-loader will be relocked. Looking forward for your precious help..

[Q] Not Booting

I had recently flashed Gamerz Rom from ICS ROM. I flashed Midnight GB kernel over it. Now when I am trying to flash back ICS ROM, phone always boots into Recovery. I tried flashing different ICS ROMs, still it always boots into Recovery.
I don't know what to do.?
Try all three wipes...
If that doesnt work flash ur phone with stock firmware if u can go into download mode....
If my post helped, dont mind pressing the thanks button
Nopes
I always do all 3 wipes.
And yeah I am considering to flash the stock ROM, but am trying my best to avoid all those steps.
I m afraid but u have to go on stock first..
If my post helped, dont mind pressing the thanks button
This "trick" is actually using if you go from gb to ics. I recommend you flash cyanogenmod 7.2 (2.3.7 GB), than go for cyanogen mod 9.0(for ics), than reflash any other ics you prefer.
cheers
I had the same issue two days ago.
I flashed GB 3 Part Firmware with Odin.
I booted into downloadmode, flashed cF-root kernel, reboot to recovery and then flashed Devil Kernel already.
I flashed it, because i wanted to flash from external sdcard. That devil kernel flash was the problem. Copy latest CM9 nightly on internal sdcard, and flash it from gb kernel recovery. While flashing process it should Reboot and continue the flashingprocess. Hope you understand, what i wanted to say ^^
Hope i could solve your Problem

What was wrong ? Mini CM9 on Xperia X8

Hi everybody,
I tried yesterday to flash my phone with the new mini CM9 + nAa 04 kernel... It did not work resulting in a soft brick.
I solved this problem by flashing back to the stock rom + kernel using flashtool. My device is now working as before.
After many unfruitful research on the forum, i'm forced to ask you what wrong did I do...
My phone was (and is) configured as follow :
Kernel : stock 2.6.2.9
Rom : Android 2.1
Base Band Version : M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-53404015
Built : 2.1.1.C.0.0
Rooted
Bootloader : unlocked
Today I installed xRecovery (which is not needed if I use the Kernel E15_nAa-ics-04_2.6.29.6-nAa-ics-04).
Is it problematic if I want to use the mini CM9 rom ?
How did I do :
I started by flashing the kernel using flashtool and with the latest version kernel E15_nAa-ics-04_2.6.29.6-nAa-ics-04.
The manipulation was successful and kernel was working well.
Then, after having backed up all my settings, apps, contacts, rom and wiped off the data factory settings, I started to flash the rom with CWM (the rom had been stored before on my SD card).
Once the installation finished, the phone reboot... and reboot .... and reboot, etc...
It was only able to display the nAa kernel screen (boot loop), but nothing more.
Finally, I flashed it back to stock version to use it again... OUff
I was a bit scared by the idea of having a hard brick but finally it was just a soft brick.
What do you think about my experience ? I know many of you think that people who do not have necessary skills to do it should not do it ^^ but I want to learn and to make my phone a bit more flexible and fast.
Thank you in advance !

Your hardware and software seems alright to me.
Steps: Don't bother about xRecovery. From stock 2.1...
Root again
Flash nAa-ics kernel
Install MiniCM9 and Gapps from first post of MiniCM9 thread
FULL WIPE -- YOU MUST DO THIS
WIPE DALVIK-CACHE TOO
Reboot and have fun

Flash the latest baseband ans try again

Hi,
Thanks for your replies.
So I don't understand what was wrong as I completely wiped the system prior to flash the Rom.
I proceeded exactly like that :
1.Wipe data factory
2.Wipe cache
3.Wipe dalvik-cache
4.Format system
5.Format cache
6.Format data
7.Rom installation
8.Flash Gapps
I think I have done all the necessary steps to make it working ...
I was maybe not enough patient after installation ?
I'm going to try again today (now I know how to recover from a soft brick ).
Thank you all again.

OMG! Ive just brick my phone......????
Than you IAmNice, ElmirBuljubasic!
Just yester day when I try to install this ROM > GingerZaraki | V08 and its required Kernel alfs v08a/v09a CM7 | 30-8-2012 or version 8a(recommended)...
Here is my procedure but my phone stops at "Sony Ericson" when bootup.!
1. Ive flash the kernel using s1tool using the .ftf file. It seems to be working in this part.
2. Now Ive go to recovery mode, Full wipe, cache wipre, etc.
2. Run the custom zip update of GingerZaraki | V08, waited....until its done flashing!
3. restart phone, and then..........hangs-up with this "Sony Ericson"..(Ive rescue the cp using SEUS, and thanks it works again, but havent successful yet installing custom ROM an Kernel)
??? Did i missed some procedure during flashing? Will it conflict with the sunbox? Do I need to install sunbox before flashing Kernel or Rom? or just a corrupt installation of ROM?
Thank you for helping.
You didn't flash the kernel because alfs didn't have Sony Ericsson screen. Try revert to stock then start again from beginning, remember don't miss any step.

GingerDX v030 stuck at splash screen

I searched a lot in all threads to find a similar question or just an answer to my problem.
To start I have to tell you that I already had the v029 installed with the stock kernel and everything was fine.
Then I wanted to check some other roms and if they fit me better. So i got it from the begining. Wiped everything and installed the stock eclair with PCC. Unlocked the bootloader through a very usefull guide found here and flashed the latest nAa kernel. Then I downloaded the MiniCM9 3.0.5 Rom and installed it succesfully.
Everything is working fine but I wanted to go back to GingerDX. So I did a factory reset/wiped everything downloaded the rom for the nAa kernel and installed it. It said that it was successfuly installed. But when I try to boot my phone It stucks on the GingerDX splash screen with the animation and doing nothing. No keys working. I removed the battery to shut down, install the CM9 rom again and everything's fine.
Can you please tell what am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

Any luck? I just installed the kernel on the link you posted and have the exact same problem. The boot screen stays on the splash animation. It's been there for more than 15 minutes and the animation itself is slow as hell.
Hi there..
When we switch between GB and JB kernels we must format /system /data and /cache when we flash the new kernel.
Yes, I flashed the kernel in the link and then the gingerdx rom. I did the wipe in data/cache/dalvik cache and everything else that is needed.
The only thing that occured was a problem in the format during the installation. I formated it manually before the install and it was ok.
