[Q] Slow startup - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone,
i was often looking here to get info on mobile devices. Now i can't find a solution at this.
Since some days i've this problem with my GT-I900 : when device is off and i turn it on it won't startup fast. I see samsung logo, then monitor go black and then i see the logo again (custom rom 2.3.6). It can happen that it makes this 3 times and then device go on, it can happen it takes 1 hour to startup.
I've triend several different roms with Odin installation or from "install from zip file" and cwm. Only installation with Odin (custom roms) were succesfully. Installation from zip files were succesfully only with cyanogenmod even if , one time started device, the system could not "Encrypt" the handy (cyanogenmod rev. 9) or i got request to insert an encryption password (rev. 10).
What i can check to find a way to solve this?
Greetings,
Lorenzo

Now it wont startup anymore, just samsung logo then black screen then logo again. I have really no idea of how to solve this.

I don't think encryption ever worked on our phones, but I might be wrong.
As for slow start up, does this still happen if you flash a new odin rom? Are they stock roms?

[Q] Boot Loop, out of nowhere.

Hi,
I've been using SGS I9000 with CM9 stable, for two months now.
I've had minor problems with it, but yesterday I ran out of battery and once I charged it fully and tried to start it, my phone got stuck in a boot loop.
Samsung galaxy S I9000 screen comes for about 5-6 seconds, and goes away for one second and comes back, after 20 seconds, the whole thing repeats.
When plugged in, the loading animation - before the battery animation shows up - but does not animate. Also goes black, and comes back again in a loopy manner.
I can start it into download mode, but not recovery mode.
Since I can do this I realised trying fixing this by going back to my stock rom flashing it using Odin.
But odin does not see my mobile, I tried installing drivers but it doesnt work.
Please help me. How do I install appropriate drivers without me needing to boot the phone? If only Odin sees the phone, I'm comfortable with flashing it.
Thanks.
Make sure you kill kies with ctrl alt and delete before running odin! I am also having problems with cm9 and bootloops mainly on the blue cm bootscreen just endless loading, im rapidly coming to the conclusion cm9 is crap ! how it can be classed as stable is beyond me, if thats stable i would hate to see what unstable is , everyone is moaning about the bootloops and IMHO cm9 is best avoided !
Hi, same happened to me. I had to flash first the 2.3.7 stock and after CM9.1 - with Odin
Sorry but I cannot insert here link with full step by step instructions (XDA rules for new users don't allow me) I send you a message with it
After that my Galaxy rocks! Never went so fast and fluent as now
Hope it helps

strange problem with charging, bootloop, pls help

Hi,
I rooted my note some weeks ago and I was searching the web, reading all kind of threads and thinking what the problem might be for the last weeks. Finally I decided to register myself on xda and to post my problem.
Like mentioned before I rooted my note via CMW and then flashed a franco kernel, unfortunally I dont know which version, but no custom rom. It all worked fine for 14 maybe 16 hours, then the phone froze after opening a app and after that it stuck at the Galaxy Note N7000 logo. I tried to enter recovery but it didn't work, I can enter downloadmode but I ran out of battery before I could do anything.
Now the phone keeps turning itself on and off the whole time when I try to charge it, the battery image comes for like 1 second and after that the screen turns black again. The battery itself is new so that shouldnt be the problem. I charged it like that for like 4 hours and then tried to enter downloadmode but it only says "battery to low to download".
I hope it is not a hardware problem. If anybody has a idea please help me, I am getting desperate.

EDIT: I came from offical 4.0.4 ICS
How old is your phone? Try with another good battery.
Suggestion: you may flash gb via PC Odin and check phone back to normal.

I got my phone last april, so it is not even a year old, but I got a new battery some days before rooting it... I'll try/have to get another one anyway.
Could you give me a link for a stock gb rom please.
Thank you for your quick reply.
Kindly go thru Guru 'drketan' threads and posts.

Found it. Should I use a rom with three parts or with only one? And can I use any rom or one with a special "code" that suits my device, e.g. german....
And just flash the rom and then fullwipe or is wiping not necessary?
I am sorry for the questions but I want to do everything right.
You can use any. Wipe in GB recovery.
Thanks a lot.
Yesterday I finally found somebody to charge my battery, today I flashed a GB stock rom, but I still can`t get any further than the Samsung Galaxy Note logo... It worked one time but I turned the phone off to insert my sim card and it got stuck again.
I tried flashing with pit file and bootloader as well, but no luck.
Could it be a hardware problem? Could a J-tag repair fix it?
Thanks in advantage.

Now your on safe GB rom, enter recovery wipe cache, factory reset, wipe dalvick cache.
Let's know the result
I tried, but I am not able to enter recovery... I press volume up + home + power but I only get the N7000 logo. I have read that you have to press the home button in the right moment to enter stock recovery, could somebody tell if that is true and if yes when do I have to press?
Anyone an idea please? I can enter download mode but not recovery, I downgraded to gb 2.3.6.KK5, I flashed abyss 4.2 but I can get to recovery mode or past the GT N7000 logo. Three times it got to the "package installing" page and one time it even started then I switched it off to insert my sim card and again stuck at the N7000 logo.
I need help please...

You have to press the three button combo "a long time" and the power button should be the last one to use.
I always wait until the Samsung Logo appeared 2 times and I see the next animation (depends on your kernel/recovery).
So please try again and hold the three buttons longer.
I flashed the 3-part lc1 gb and did a full wipe. The phone now starts sometimes but gets stuck at the n7000 logo most of the time. When it starts the whole UI feels very laggy, eg. while typing. Recovery mode started one time out of 1000 tries. I am afraid that something with my hardware is wrong. Any ideas? Could a Jtag be a solution? Please help.
try again to get into recovery and do a factory reset from Gb recovery..
press it until you get to recovery. DO NOT remove your fingers when you see n7000 bootlogo. keep pressing . keep pressing. keep pressing.

I made it in the recovery, did another fullwipe, but it still lags while typing or opening/closing an app and still does not boot proper, I have to try several times to get past the logo screen and it works only when I go in downloadmode and boot from there. Entering the recoverymode still only works randomly. Any idea?
Edit: it also lags while scrolling down/up

In all you posts here you never wrote exactly what version of which Rom you installed in whatever way.
That's why I'm still not convinced that you have "defined state" and giving good advice is try&error.
So please start telling: how did you flash, what GB or ICS or JB version, Stock Rom or Custom Rom.
,Sorry, I flashed the n7000xxlc1 - open europe with odin PC, stock, prerooted and in 3 parts. After that I did a fullwipe, the phone turns on after a few tries, most time after I go in download mode and restart from there. It lags while it is on, like short freezes, I tried to install the OTA update to ICS but failed.
Before that I was stuck on the Samsung Galaxy Note logo after flashing a franco kernel via CWM (I am not sure which version but it came with the guide to root, so I thought it could not be bad)
Edit: I flashed the xxlsc 4.1.2 jelly bean offical leak via odin PC, and I still have the same problems. I takes 5-6 reboots to actually start the device and it is very laggy, almost unusable. Every second or so it freezes for short time.
Any help please? I would send it to someone to do a JTAG repair if this could help. I just dont want to waste the money, so if anyone has experienced a problem like this please help me.
Is this a brick revived phone?

[Q] Return to Official Firmware

I rooted and installed CWM and Cyanogen 10.1.3 on by brothers Note, GT-N7000. He didnt enjoy it as some unexpected errors were coming up sometimes. Luckily i found the official Rom 4.1.2 N7000DDLSC_INU.zip through sammobile. Now My questions are:-
1. What must i do to completely remove cyanogenmod and clock work recovery.
2. Do i need some additional files like, kernel or bootloader or phone or csc (or will just all this zip to pda will install it)
3. What else should i take care of?
Please advice i want to completely return to official state
nothing much.. just the rom file you downloaded in tar.md5 format. Boot into recovery and factory reset the phone. then boot into download mode and flash the new rom..
But will that remove clock work mod.?
And will my device get recognised in kies?
Sent from my GT-I9500 using xda app-developers app
Yes
Now there's another panga. The phone received the files properly fine through doing but not installing after booting
Gets shut down at logo. This I tried it 2.
Sent from my GT-I9500 using xda app-developers app
Kindly elaborate... Did you factory reset prior to using Odin?
Ok.
I went into cwm.
1 I factory reset. Wiped the data
2 wiped catche
3 wiped dalvic catche
4 went into download mode
5 with Odin 1.85 recognised device installed official rom.
The progress was shown in both phone and Odin. Factoryfs, kernel, hidden and catche shown to be successfully copied.
Only the auto reboot was selected
After device restated it shouted the Samsung logo. Without triangle
I thought it was a success.
Then I saw green Android logo with install process which seemed to have successfully completed on the phone.
but then just as the Samsung and a ring revolving screen came up, insured of booting up the device got shut down.
I thought it will reboot ok but it didn't. I tried restating several times but it kept getting shutdown.
I then flashed the official firmware again but this time after Odin transferred all the files on the phone, the green android logo is not able to complete the installation in the middle of it the phone is restating showing the battery charging logo, then the green bot trying to install then again it restarts.
To sum up
I note

Not sure if you have any other strong reason to go back to pure stock. Otherwise the easiest way is to install a stock base custom rom using PhilZ kernel and rom.zip. Sweet rom 10.5 is very good. Fast and stable.
Install purestock rom via odin is a pain and can cause lots of problems due to poor cable connection.

Did you have enough battery before flashing? Power off the phone.. Then connect it to ac charger for couple of hours and then remove the charger and start the phone.
I do believe I had more than 80%on the 1st attempt but I can't say that about this morning.
Any ways I did put it on charge today. Nearly two hours. Since it was looping on the battery and installation thing I put it on download mode. But now after removing from download mode is not even starting on download mode. I feel is further damaged. Any other software to interact with the phone or any other options I might have left

If it is not the batery then software does not help. There is a tool name usb jig which can help put phone to DL mode.

Thanks people for all the support. I think I will take it to the Samsung people as it is getting a little scary for my brother to trust me with this

Sudden Death GS3 I9305T

I am having a sudden sudden death problem on my device, but in my research I only knew a solution for the I9300 model through a XXELLA bootloader for android JB, and I did not find anything related to this for my device.
I wonder if you also have a solution to the problem on this device that I have.
Someone to help me?:crying:

Can you specify what exactly do you mean by "Death"?
Does the phone boot into download mode or recovery mode?
Does it make anything when it's connected to charger?
The device stops in the logo, it simply does not initialize, it goes into normal download mode, but even after the process of installing the rom (numerous attempts) it initializes, but after 2 minutes it goes back to the dead state, ie, And stuck in the logo.

Stuck at what logo, splash screen logo or boot animation logo?
Well, i suggest u to flash back to tock rom using odin and start again from there.. U might want to repartition you phone too. to repartition, pit file is required, google it and you'll find one.. Good luck.

If Odin fails to flash the stock rom, try flashing with another version of Odin like v3.07 or v3.09, and try other cable and other USB Port, also try flashing the stock rom with a pit ONLY if the error in Odin's log is related to repartitioning.

Just what I did, flashing in other versions, for version v3.09 the installation was successful, however when starting to configure account, wifi and etc. Restart by yourself and freeze the logo again.
This is very strange because there is no malfunction in the device, the card is intact. I believe that version 4.1.2 is the most appropriate for this device, since I have seen many reports of people warning not to upgrade to 4.4 because of this problem.
But now it does not make any difference, I'm going to trade it for an Optimus G touch that I really needed to get LG to work.

It might be a hardware issue, don't you think?
Coming from Samsung for being anything ... this device was stopped a long time, only took it to use a month and a half, I left Samsung a long time, I had hardware problem years ago with two devices of the brand, S4 GT-i9505 - GT-i9500, since then never again, more like my LG E977 is only with the touch screen failing, I found a service shop with interest in this GS3 and I will exchange it for the touch screen of the E977.
