Mount SD in recovery - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everybody!
I was wondering why I can't mount my sd card (ext. or internal) to PC, while I am in recovery?
What do I have to do in cwm recovery to get with my PC onto the SDs?
Help appreciated!

Is Philz...recovery not the original cwm?
Have you got a link to that?
In normal cwm recovery I tried that and it did not work for me.

[Q] CoCore-E 6.2 cwm external SDcard not mounting

Hey, I'm new to this forum and to android. I have the Samsung Galaxy S Advance GT-I9070, it has JB 4.1.2 rooted, and I've installed the CoCore-E 6.2 cwm kernel. I want to install the Pure Vanilla mod, but my problem is that when I'm on recovery mode I can't backup my current rom because the external SDcard is not mounted. On the recovery mode there is an option to mount the SDcard but whenever I trie to mount it, it says "error mounting /sdcard". Sorry if this question has been asked before, I just couldn't find the answer I'm looking for. It would be really nice if you could help a noob out. Thanks in advance .

u don't need to mount sd to take a backup. just go to backup and restore and take a backup!
and pure vanilla is not a mod, its a rom!

Do you see anything from external sd? If not, you need to repartition it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/SD_card_partitioning

Yes, the external sdcard is mounted when on Android, and I'm able to transfer stuff on it. I've formatted it to fat32 but no change, should I repartition it anyway ?
Repartitioning it to FAT fixed the problem, now my sd is mounted when on cwm recovery. But when I started a backup it was going pretty well until it stopped and said "Error while making a backup image of /data!". I guess the univers is against me installing this rom .

Data partition is mounted? But it should not make problem on backup.

I found the problem, I had too many apps and my sd was only 1GB. I uninstalled some apps and tried to backup with a 2GB sd and it worked perfectly. Anyway thanks for trying to help. Have a nice day sir.

Why cant I mount the storage inside recovery

I am using clockworkmod recovery but I cannot mount storage. Am I missing something? Drivers in place. Fastboot abd both work. But I cannot mount the storage. I am not new to this just new to the phone.

When you hit the mount button should the storage show up as a drive? It worked on my old phone with external storage. What am I doing wrong?

Doesn't work for phones with internal storage from recovery, cannot mount in recovery. Something to do with how internal storage works with the MTP

Thank you for the reply. I had a friend bring over his phone that was only booting to bootloader and had no ROM's in storage. I managed to get it back by fastboot flashing a boot.img from the viper ROM that was installed on his phone before. Normally I would have just copied a good ROM to the storage through recovery and flashed it. Afterwords I made a backup and warned him not to delete it.
Thanks again everyone for all the support this site provides!

If you need to send a rom or anything to your internal storage from recovery just do : adb push rom.zip /data/media/0/

+1
Easiest way is to get a 4 $ OTG cable from Amazon and a SanDisk 16 GB USB stick. Then choose in recovery 'install zip from external SD card'
I also keep a Nandroid on there. In recovery there is the option 'back up to external SD card'
Really gives a peace of mind!

INTERNAL /SDCARD please read!
Just reflash from KDZ if you can't access the /sdcard folder from recovery. I've never heard of this happening on our device, so I wouldn't take the risk of playing with it if I were you.

u can format it in recovery mode. at least in team win recovery there is a choise to format data. after format , reboot in recovery and the sdcard is mounted. if it doesnt mount , u can do it manually again in recovery. this is not even a problem. its like in linux u mount the /home directory. the disk is always there u just have to let the system "know" that this part is used as "home". same here. u let the phone know that this here is the sdcard. so go ahead and format it ,reboot. if not fixed then mount it manually.

Caps off badass 12GB internal storage is showed as sdcard and additional sd card is external sd card you can format them both from CWM.Also you cna try to manually mount it from there. Also you can try deleting data and format system.Next time you want help be shure to know what is problem and what you want. Also try to use english language to describe it
Thanks for advice guys but after reflashing with official lg mobile Support tool still a bootloop, then finally got to format /data partition via stock recovery and voila its back again working ! Its a weird corruption on 4X tough.

You need to provide more details
- what rom are you using
- of what you did before this happen.
- And by "usb storage" to you mean it is an internal sdcard or external one. I guess it is internal?
One easy thing you can do is to flash PhilZ kernel suitable for your rom. Then from PhilZ touch recovery you can format internal sdcard. Speedmod Kernel is very good but the recovery it uses is outdated.

I do nothing before that it just happen
Yeah I mean internal sd not external one
If i flash philiz recovery how I format the internal ?? Just by wiping data , cash and delvic or what??

Go into "Mount and Storage menu" and choose "format emmc" it will format your internal sdcard. You will loose all the data on it like photos documents...
Before format you may want to check if Philz Kernel help solve problem by it self and no need to format.
And which rom are you on? you should choose the suitable PhilZ kernel for your rom.
Thank you for repling me so quickely I will check and tell you
