Froyo.JHKE1
ver. 2.2.1
For some reason my provider is not recognised and I was told to open "Sim Services"
How do I get there?
There is no program with such a name.
I found the STK.apk in system/apps folder but it tries to install the program and fails because it is already installed.
How do I run this program to set the roaming to local?
If it's there, then change its permissions to rw-r--r--. Reboot ur phone & done. Now you've sim toolkit. If that doesn't work too, just take it from any rom and copy/paste in /system/app set permissions as told & reboot. This should solve ur problem.:thumbup:

How do I change permissions on the phone?
I can get the SD card to open on the computer but not the phone.
Excuse me but I am as green as a newbie
Its nothing to deal with sdcard. To change permissions of system apps u need to be rooted first(u can search a reliable method for ur device here, on XDA). Remember, **ROOTING VOIDS UR WARRANTY**. Once U R rooted, just install Root Explorer.apk from GooglePlay and allow Superuser access. Then open Root Explorer & goto /system/app. Tap on "Mount rw" on top right corner. Navigate to Stk.apk, long press on it & select permissions and set them as rw-r--r--

Hey, that app ur looking for is called Widgetlocker, it can be found in the market.
gl
if you have Stock HTC ROM and root access, then you can just go to your "Root Explorer" app, and go to:
/system/app
and rename the 'HtcLockScreen.apk' and 'HtcLockScreen.odex' (you can just add a '1' at the end of both of them. i.e. 'HtcLockScreen.apk1')
reboot and there you have it, the original android unlock screen.
:::if you want it back, just delete the '1' at the end of the .apk and .odex files:::

i have problem installing xrecovery. i installed xrecovery mini beta 0.1 and toolbox from a link from q&a sector . there in an apk folder i found file named root explorer. i installed it and now i can access it . i got busy box x recovery root explorer and chargemon . what now ?
i saw that i need to copy them to sdcard/sustem . i tried but it says sd card is read only . ? what now ? some helpp
i found that i need to put the busy box chargemon and xrecovery.tar to sd/sustem/bin . i putted them succesfully but i cant access xrecovery whyyy ?
copy busybox, chargemon and xrecovery.tar to /system/bin using root explorer
not sd/sustem/bin
mount folder as R/W and not R/O...look for it at the top of your root explorer window..
change the permission to all files...follow the permission on the pic below.

Hi everyone,
I have a Xperia Z1, and have installed a new locker, unfortunately when I unlock it, it then goes to the default lock. On my other android device I can go into security and goto screen lock, and set it to none. However on my Xperia I don't have a none option.
Any Ideas on how to remove it?
Thanks
You can actually set it to none in settings - > security.
If you want to completely get rid of stock Sony lockscreen then just delete xperialockscreen apk in /system/app.

Where would I find this, as I go into /system/ folder and don't have an /app folder
Thanks
Choose swipe option. You will have to swipe to unlock. Same like "slide to unlock"

That's weird.
The screenshot you sent is not from "/system/app", but from "/storage/sdcard0/system". You need root to go to /system/app. I use root explorer, but it's a paid app. You can use es file explorer for that instead.
@olokos your trick is helpful :good::good:
You're welcome, thats the cleanest way. You can also just rename the file to .bak, so it's not running, but you can get it back at any point you want to by renaming it back to .apk
