Cuz not many people use it so in order to save space they don't bundle an FM radio.
It's easier if the small portion of users who do use the FM radio can just download a radio app from the play store themselves.

thanx guys useful information
thanx a lot :good:

The FM radio from Samsung is using the TW (touchwiz) framerwork for it to work.. CM ROMs dont have the TW framework.. I think they decided to go that way to avoid any legal action from samsung themselves.. Same reason why the always have Gapps as a separate file from the ROM..

It's not because CM team wants to save space, or because they are afraid that Samsung might sue them.
The reason there's no radio is because Samsung do not want to release specific hardware documentation and source code, because they deem them proprietary. There's no way for CM guys to develop a working FM radio without those.

Will we ever have a stable custom ROM?

I read that NVIDIA didn't release their source code which could bring/is bringing problems like old kernels, bluetooth audio, fm radio, camera problems, good use of the GPU.
If they'll never release the code does it mean it'll never be possible to fix those things? Can a future official stock ROM whit gingerbread help?
thanks

I thougt, that we can extract the A2DP and FM drivers from the official GB rom and put it into a custom rom?
That's possible, isn't it?
No.

Why not?
Many people said it.
They were wrong.
Arcee explained that about 1'000 times.
That's really bad.
Then I hope for a good GB rom from LG, because I use FM Radio.
We will have a stable ROM... When 2.3 GB is out for O2x..
But will we can build a good and stable 4.0 rom, if it's released?
is the 2x within between devices?
http://liliputing.com/2011/04/nvidia-drops-android-support-for-older-tegra-2-devices.html
I dont really care about bt and fm radio. But when and if google releases ICS with (hypothetically) hardware acceleration for the OS will it be possible to implement in the 2x with the NVIDIA source code situation?

Read before you flash stuff it helps in the long run, FM Radio doesnt work so is not included, S Memo is a Touchwiz application CM9 is not Touchwiz based so S Memo will never work/be present in CM9 so to sum it up if you want S Memo go back to Touchwiz,

[Q] FM radio apk for Samsung GT-N7000

Hey, I've flashed the super nexus 2.0 ROM 4.2.2 on my Note and its doesn't come with the FM radio apk. I extracted the fmradio.apk from samsung stock rom 4.1.2 and tried to install but it says "application not installed". My phone has the hardware but i am looking for the software.
Its an Indian version phone. please help? I need the offline radio app not online radio (if that makes sense).. Thanks in advance
Not working on CM, AOSP, etc based Roms.
You'll need a "Samsung" based Rom if you want to use the FM radio - or use the radio app (see market or search xda) - some people had problems with this, so I'm not sure if it is a real good replacement.
Thanks

No, this isn't true. Disappointing isn't the missing software in CM/AOSP etc. but Samsungs policy.

[Q] FM Radio for CM 10.1?

Hello folks!
Is there a way to get fm radio running on cm 10.1?
I've already tried Spirit FM Umlocked, but it just seems to recognize all the stations, but there's no sound neither on the headphones nor on the speaker.
Maybe some nice dev can fix this issue somehow.
Thanks a lot in advance!
Or to port stock apk for CM10
iff someone port stock apk to 10.1 it will be assome

Agreed 100%
I remember from many forums of official CM supported devices that FM doesn't work because of unavailable source code for different FM chipsets from mobile manufacturers and is not meant to be implemented anyway, so I guess there's no chance of getting usual FM Radio working . Sorry for that guys
EDIT: Found something through Google, that Sony devs were or are working with CM team to get FM working, but LG isn't known for their support

That's what the link is leading to
But the problem is that CM need dev's from the mobile manufacturers to get the FM chips working and LG hasn't shown that much of support for the android community in the past, so I think we won't see FM on our device in the near future.

OK... what if we somehow port it from stock JB apk... or is somehow kernel related?
I see that some developers are just signed with CM apks like Memo from our stock rom and they work on CM.

Drivers, source code .... My first post clearly shows that that can't work? Its impossible to just port sth like FM from stock I think. If it would be that easy, CM would've done it before we would've even thought about it.

i don't think so. theoretically it should be possible to "port" it. we have the kernel sources and we have the apps, permissions,...
so it should be possible

[Q] dual boot I9305

Hi all,
I've heard of the SiyahKernel for the I9300 which has dual boot functionality.
Does anybody know if this works on the I9305? Or is there a dual boot kernel available which is made for the I9305 in special?
Reason why I want to have dual boot:
I'm a huge Ubuntu fan. And what I've understood from what I've read is that it's CM(10?) based. So I'd like to use that as second rom. (I know, there isn't a version for the I9305 available right now, but I'll give it a try to port it from I9300 to the I9305.)
Thanks in advance.
As far as I was aware there is no dual boot yet for our device
Sent from my GT-I9305 using xda app-developers app
If their is then its in Development .
jje
Does it take much time to make a kernel which supports dual boot ?
Does anybody know how to port a kernel from I9300 to the I9305 ? Is it hard work to do that ?
And why does the 1GB extra and LTE support make such a difference for ROMS on the device ?
Thanks in advance.
Its not so much the difference as developers actually wanting to work on the phone . Nobody pays them its their choice what to develop . jje

1. Thats not REALLY hard, however you have to know what to do. Looking and comparing sources is good point to start. Take a look at gokhan or googy commits about dual boot for example.. Personally, I havent been interested in it, but I might look into it, why not
2. Apart from these, we have other radio, and that causes so much trouble with ROM differences..

It's cool that we have radio, but.... why do we need it ? seriously... we all have a mobile network subscription these days
Couldn't we just drop that in the beta/alpha versions, and add it in later then ? ;s

I mean, another radio, like baseband, ril etc. I wasn't talking about normal FM radio (we haven't even got one in i9305).
However, taking only these proper files (like ril + modem) from our ROMs and take them to i9300 ROMs might work, I tried some time ago doing same thing with temasek's cm10.1 and it worked.. Unfortunately I wasn't able to compile fully stable and well working kernel (based on temasek's sources) therefore I do not use it now ;p
