Hello!
OK, this is gonna be a tough one. My first thread.
I've already searched a million times a solution for this problem, I've looked on almost every related Q&A post over and over again and still nothing.
Now, I have a Samsung Galaxy S Plus with CM9 (this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1825260).
Everything was going smooth until today when I installed a GPS navigation program called iGO My Way ( this version: 8.4.2.139242). And of course... it doesn't work. To be more specific, I performed a clean install, opened the program (`till now everything is ok) but when It comes to connecting to GPS satellites, I waited for 30 minutes and it didn't find my location. Then I opened phone settings and enabled " Use GPS satellites" and tried again but it still doesn't work.
I don't want to try another program `cause this one is one of the best and it worked on my official ROM.
In the cm9 topic by ivendor, he says that gps is working fine, and yes, GPS is working fine in Google Maps for example.
I read the rules, I hope everything is ok and someone will be able to help me. Thanks in advice.
I posted here, since is my first post and I'm not allowed to post on the development forum.
Ok, I managed to solve the problem myself. If anyone has this problem, contact me and I'll help.

Since I received the Gingerbread OTA I have seen that when run gMaps it takes long time (minutes) to fix GPS. I think that is only for cold start, coz after fix if I close an restart the GPS it fixes in few seconds as normal.
I have tried with GPS Status but it seems everything OK.
Before Gingerbread it was really fast fixing both in cold and warm start.
Thx

I've also noticed the same problem. GPS seems to be much slower getting a fix on my position - even with a clear sky and at places it worked well before. Don't know if there's much I can do about it but hope for a patch from Google.
Seems that it's a very common issue, try to google " gingerbread slow gps fix"

Stock 2.3.3 ROM after OTA update, GPS only locked 1 out of 10 tries, and took a long time to do so. It is not even stable, and lost signal after a few minutes. I had looked everywhere including google forum, and there is no joy.
Finally read it somewhere to try GpsFix in the market and now GPS fixes in <10 seconds!
GPS-Fix Problem with Gingerbread
Hello,
i have the same problem after upgrading to Gingerbread 2.3.3. I have found this thread in the Google support forum (Search after this with Google):
GPS Navigation problems after Gingerbread update
and the issue is known aswell at Google issue tracking list (Search after this with Google):
NMEA Listener no longer working after upgrade to Gingerbread Issue ID 15500
The issue has been assigned medium priority over there. Maybe if more people can go there and star the issue, it will get up voted.
Sorry that i doesn't post the links directly, but its not permitted for me (not enough post so far)
The issue hasn't been assigned anything yet, the priority is 'medium' by default, once someone takes ownership of it, it should get a proper priority.
In the meantime you might like to try this:-
http://www.androidpolice.com/2010/09/09/gps-fix-for-cyanogenmod-6-on-the-nexus-one/
It works for me.
Hope it helps.

Yes, the GpsFix only worked for a few days, then the same problem surfaced again. So I followed the link and voila! now fast GPS fix again! Thanks!
Seems that 2.3.4 update fixed it...
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
I had the same problem on 2.3.4 and I fixed with the GPS Status, there is an option to clear all gps data. That worked for me, now the gps fix my position in a few seconds.
i used this
i have been using this [APP][ROOT] FasterFix [V1.5] - xda-developers. It needs root and also needs to be run once everytime i flash a nightly.
I get a fix in "seconds" rather than instantly. But i'm going to try that link posted above. You guys should check it out since nobody has mentioned it.
edit: on a second thought, i'd rather not try anything else because of the golden saying "if it ain't broke don't fix it" : )
That app will do nothing for the O2X, as it doesn't use the gps.conf file.
Anything it does is a placebo. CM7 now comes with a couple of GPS fixes, and that is probably the difference you're seeing.
Hey Guys,
I am currently running XXJVP with CF-Root 3.7.
Since around 2 weeks I have the Problem that my GPS doesn't lock on any Satellite, it actually finds, if at all one or two Satellites in GPS Test but can't connect to any of them.
I searched now the whole week for any Fix, tried several solutions (set the NTP Server to at.pool.ntp.org), checked the settings in Lbs Test Mode, tried various in there, updated to the last Firmware (was on FroYo before) but it all didn't help.
I am not sure if it is an hardware issue as it does find satellites but is actually just not able to lock on to them.
Any suggestions what else I shall have a look at?
Thanks a lot in advance and best regards,
stefan
You might want to try this method, which seems to have helped some
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1043034&highlight=how+i+fixed+my+gps
Ah thanks for that.
I will have a look later on when I am at home and give it a test.
The second suggestions looks a bit more complicated actually.
But anyway - i think it is fantastic to pay 200€ for a smartphone for having then manually fiddle around on the gps antenna to get it working....
"thumbs up" for that!
Just wanted to let you know the first Hint worked for me so thanks alot again for it
still have problems with the battery but will check other threads and see if I can find out something.
Hello
I have just got my note, sadly google maps didn't determind my location till I turned on AGPS. I tried to use gps status to check for sats with no results after 10 min, I knew something were wrong. I root the device & installed lbstest mod & tried to get position. With no results, I tried to check hardware test for gps, also no sat were found, I changed the mods nothing occur.
I tried to change my csc into open europ. & did all check again,& no improvements.
I installed oden & tried to install a complete wipe rom; codec, modem, csc. Open version Still can't get any sat on any gps app.
Samsung middle east says you should pay for changing inboard 400 $ as it not purchased for the main country dealer, as I moved to ksa; as if they know nothing about softcodes.
I also tried to use other pool like Asia or global, niether any results
I checked alogcat to check.. But I couldnt understand much,
Please somebody help.

Please post questions in the Q&A section
mine is similar sometimes, i can wait forever and it wont find a single satelite, but once I reboot it will find and fix onto 10+ satelite within seconds.
I think mine is just a software glitch, its irritating but i can live with it.

It seems to be hardware issue, as i m first time hearing GPS issue on Note.
Anyway if this can help you, take a chance.
Download 'faster fix' from market. And try changing pool from application.
GudLuck!
I already installed fast fixer with no results, if it were a hardware issue, how could we insure it,like a script or gps chip and antenna checker, reading the alogcat show ; gps is on but receiving fix,
Had same problem, then I just deleted old a-GPS data and redownload new one. Then fix within seconds. Try that first and see if it works better.
Re Galaxy note No gps fix No Sat
Sadly I delete the old AGPS Data & update it, with same result, I checked CoPilot with no Sat, I checked GPS Status again, no improvements, I think its Software problem, missing Data " interperting between Software & Hardware" missing Lib or Code.
I ve already attached alogcat, hopefully someone could advice
Regards
I strongly suggest you go back to square one and work from a stock, known good, reliable (as in working on tens of thousands of others), operating system.
Until then you are simply throwing stuff against the wall to see what sticks.. this is not a scientific engineering approach... so start by helping others help you.
Thanks
Sorry for disturb, i just wanted to insure that i ve tried several abrouchs. If anybody could suggest a complete wipe nand & boatloader, codec,...... I dont mind i. Any comment is helpfull to me just make sure somone read the alogcat i already posted

hi all,
I was just wondering if I was the only one with gps troubles.
I tried stock rom, overcome, ics miui, jb aokp, but rarely got satellites detected.
I once got some connexions while using tomtom but about 20 minutes (discontinued) on a 2 hours trip.
with some test apps I got 3 feeble satellites signals.
Does someone else had so much trouble ?
(I trying some gps fixes I found but just wanted to know if I was the only one)
thanks
you are not the only one

No you are not.
Did you GPS work at all?
Mine did and then stopped.. here is what I did before it stopped.
I rooted it with ODIN (ages ago)
for ICS I followed the widely available instructions to get ICS (How to install Stable ICS 4.0.4 on Galaxy TAB P1000 [CyanogenMod 9 Stable]) and everything worked well. Needed a different camera app but the GPS worked reliable and FAST.
When JB was available I used the ROM Based on Jelly Bean 4.1.2 Platform. This is the official CyanogenMod 10 Nightly but had issues with Gapps and did not have time back then (xmas time) so just restored my nandroid backup. And to be honest I have no idea if the GPS worked after that. I think I used the iPhone more for GPS stuff until March.
Fact was it did not get any satelite at all, only location is via WIFI.
My hypo was that I may have missed something or the nandroid backup / restore does not include all files.
To fix it I looked for a later ROM and used JB. I used the Android 4.2.1 CM10.1 for Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 P1000 [Filename: cm-10.1-20121229-EXPERIMENTAL-p1-cdesai.zip] and Google Apps [Filename: gapps-jb-20121130-signed.zip] and that rome is reported that GPS works (but remember it did not work before i used this rom)
All went well and the rom works with all other features but did not GPS and I still have 0 satelites with either GPS Test or GPS Fix.
That is when I found your post.
I had a good dig around XDS and well GPS issues are plentiful, but not quite like the one you or I experience.
It seems that you at least get "some" satelites which is an improvement over none.
re-stocking did not solve it for you so I may save myself the trouble.
that said, my only thought is the GPS module packed in and that is why I get not a single satelite...
did you get anywhere?
TIA

hi there,
for my part, I bought this used tab some month ago. I didn't really liked it in gb, so almost immediatly tried to root it, changed recovery and rom, but never tested gps then.
I actually use miui ics rom and tried gps once. on a 2 hours long trip, sunny weather, nothing to disturb gps signal, I had 20mn of signal and not in a single straight connexion, but only just 1 or 2 mn from time to time.
I tried restock, but not bettre, even my chinese tab is more efficient. I'm still trying to understand and looking for answers but I nedd to restart my searches all over, too much things founds and now I'm quite lost.
The only thing I remember is that someone picked up gps files from his old samsung gsm and copied them on his GT as they had the same system.
I'll try to find that back, and maybe I'll try with my htc as they're all two on miui.
I'll send infos if I find something working
The same problem

Sorry for my english!
My GT-P1000 was to repair because it was unable to read the internal memory! After that I never tested the gps and rooted the tab with CM10.1 TWRP 20130802 Kernel 3.0.88 v1.35 (cm-10.1-20130802-UNOFFICIAL-p1)! I tried gps, but there is no gps signal and there are no satellites found!
Did ypu solved the problem?

no, still not solved it, I suspect some hardware problem like gps chip dead, gps antenna unplugged or broken, but as I had troubles with electronics thèses days, I will wait to open my GT
install apps like Faster GPS, GPS Fix or similar from Play
define your NTP Server and load XTRA data (table of current satellite position)
this will help you!
Hello everyone,
After searching everywhere on the internet(Google and "here on xda"), I have decided to plant a new thread on a strange and weird problem I have with my Samsung Galaxy SIII.
Smartphone Details:
-Phone: Samsung Galaxy SIII GT-I9300
-Android: 4.3 Official
-Rooted: Yes
-Additions: Clockworkmod
I have been searching for a couple of days and I haven't found the solution yet. I have tried multiple solutions regarding SIII related GPS issues:
- Skrews tightening.
- AGPS
- Clear Cache
- Factory Reset
- Reinstall Google Maps
- Reboot...?
I am out of options and I have no idea what's going on. I used GPS Test and GPS Data to see if I get an actual view on any satallites. But not a single satallite is found and it seems as if "GPS" is infinitly repeating on starting itself when I want to use gps for something.
There should be a GIF showing what I mean with GPS repeating search and in GPS Data the app shows GPS going on and off...
The main point is, I'm not getting any GPS signals and I was hoping for someone to know what the solution could be.
Thank you in advance. If anyone knows a thread where the answer is already there, please let me know.
Greetings,
Montana1Jones
