Hi,
I just noticed that I have a Kindle Fire 2 and not the normal Kindle Fire. So at this moment it is only possible to root it, or? I wanted to install Cyanogenmod on the Fire, but it seems there is no version for the Fire 2 at the moment.
So am I right that the root just enables my Fire to install Apps from the Google Play Store?
Hi,
root enables superuser.
with superuser you can use a root file manager manipulate some of the system directorys to install the Play store etc.
not sure if the kindle fire 2 has like the kindle fire hd a encrypted bootloader...
IF the Bootloader is encrypted you cant (yet) install different roms like cyanogenmod. Then you are stuck with the rom from amazon, unless the encryption is cracked / bypassed.
you should be able install a different launcher though, and have 'normal' looking tablet. ( Works for the HD at least, again not sure about the 2 )

So as a complete newbie I tried to root my 7" Kindle Fire HD using the method described in
"[ROOT] [How To] Root Amazon 7" Kindle Fire HD Version 7.4.7" and failed somewhere around Step 8 (the option to back up my data never appeared). Now I'm left with a Kindle Fire that works just as it did before but with the drivers deleted, which means I can't transfer files onto it or try some of the new methods I've seen to root it. So, could someone please tell me how to reinstall those drivers that I deleted? Thank you for your help!

Found a root that works i used king root version 4.0.0, if you have a 3rd generation kindle with 4.5.4 dont use the newest kingroot the version i got was also in chinese.
I have a 2014 Kindle fire 4th gen. I have managed to install the google play store on it but cannot get the device to root. I have run Kingroot on the pc and the kindle dozens of times but it never works. Is it possible to root this device ? if not is there a way to remove some of the bloatware from the device?

found this old kindle recently, Kindle Fire HD 7 2nd Gen, and i remember I had previously done some work with rooting and flashing but I'm not sure what I had done with it. I cant access the bootloader via buttons on startup so I may have broken something but it boots up and can browse the web and download apps from the amazon app store. I seem to have attemted to get the play store but either failed or it stopped working over time.
whats the best way to move forward with updating it? can I just flash a new rom?
