This isn't a review. Its a preview.
The only real review sites are the following:
- Anandtech
- Heelsandtech
Everything else is simply a preview with personal opinions of the author mixed in to %#&! it up.
If I had to take a preview of any of the 2nd tier sites out there (theverge, engadget, slashgear, etc) it would be gigaom since they are truly unbiased.
Thread topic is a little misleading. Regardless, good video.
The Verge did an amazing job with their news handling for these devices today

They can be good but they don't include battery life tests so I don't count them as real reviews. Just went through 4 different reviews on their front page just now and none of them had ANY battery life test sections. Plus they DEFINITELY don't have the knowledge base Anand does.
Either way its just my personal preference
Maybe it is just me but did anybody else notice that all the lockscreens in the videos are using the pattern to unlock and not the slide to unlock?
Well I only did see the one in this thread and the one from the verge but still it was something that I had noticed.

It's not that unusual as it is an option and perhaps they didn't want anyone snooping on those phones that wasn't suppose to be.

Usually they post their battery test results on their blog.
I guess they prefer to post the review ASAP and then add the battery results (I suppose since they take some time to do).
I really don't like the glass on the back. Has Google not learnt anything from Apple?

I wouldn't take any one of those, a.k.a. Anadtech, who post some test results without imforming it's based on pre-release software as superior to others.

I do like this forum, but in all honesty folks, I REALLY have to admit my surprise that NO-ONE has bothered to do a full comparative review on the Diamond... I mean COME ON.. the only real info people are looking for is how fast it is, what the sound quality/speaker is like (**** as it turns out from a previous answer), is bluetooth and wifi range any good? and what kind of quality the camera churns out.. because as for the rest of the info.. we know what it looks like, it's a WM machine, so that alone takes care of application queries and we know for a fact that ROMS will be a big thing...mostly all other queries are specific.
So how's about some real information that might actually HELP me make up my mind as to whether or not I buy it? (actually this isn't true.. I intend to buy the Touch Pro, but it looks as if they are using most of the same hardware from the Diamond... hence my questions.)
So how about showing what it is capable of?, or give a comparative review.
WOULD SOMEONE PLEASE post some camera shots to give an idea of the quality? (I'm pretty bloody gobsmacked that no-one has bothered their arse doing this yet.... *harumph*)
Thank you.

Sam,
I like your style. You keep things light hearted and laughable while maintaining a geeky clean nerd style. You are very entertaining.
I would like to request more content and more relevant content per video. You have not yet covered Samsung anything.... Samsung is the top USA producer of mobile devices. the i9000 is the #2 most popular forum. There is alot of development in that area. Also, you have not covered much in the way of technical items. I'd like to see some serious geeking out. I'm not asking for just myself, I own a Samsung Captivate, which is similar, but not mainstream.
I'm very sorry to hear that you have an apple product. It might be a good idea to not mention that thing... You'll notice that ipad/iphone forums are kept on a different website all-together.
here is some seriously geeky stuff which has not been covered yet on any XDA videos...
security: http://articles.cnn.com/2011-05-18/...-phone-newer-android-android-users?_s=PM:TECH
Android accessory development: http://www.google.com/search?q=Android+Open+Accessory
Resistor values for most samsung devices: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=820275
Also, don't forget to jump on the article from yesterday about the android system permissions.
I like your style, my wife does as well. We'd just like to see more content which appeals to the majority.
Call for developers: enable video calls in Android
Dear Sam,
This is a request that I have which I'd like to ask you to please air up in your show.
This is about UMTS video calls. This is a carrier feature which for years is supported by many devices but is completely missing in Android.
This is a call for developers. Please get us UMTS video calls in Android and submit the patch to AOSP and CyanogenMod. The reason to submit the patch to CyanogenMod as well, is that there it may be accepted sooner.
Here's the AOSP feature request issue:
https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=2664
Here's the CyanogenMod one:

Read droid-life's breakdown of that site pic... not real. It it's real then they did a really sloppy job of creating it. I'm no hater I want this phone to drop just as much as anyone, but the details pointed out by DL makes the site VERY questionable.
UPDATE: Additional Info today showing that the pic is fake, because the newly released photos last night do not match the device in the picture.

Of course it doesn't look like the actual device.. Look at the Droid 3 on droiddoes.com , it looks nothing like the real one.
Every time I visit another website, and then come back to XDA (yes I do close out that window before coming back to XDA), I see an advertisement for that website on XDA ? (or should I say, products advertised on that website)
Well, not every time, but .................
Happens to me too... I see mostly photo lens ads xD

I am pretty sure that will happen on any side you visit...thats how add revenue is so popular
Is there a setting you can adjust under Internet options to minimize this ?
Also, according to "Hotmail," if you close out the previous web-page, that's supposed to prevent this.
There is a way indeed... It's called ad-block and cookies clear on browser exit

OK, I just made a post in the off topic photo thread about the Panasonic Lumix ZR3, and now I'm seeing ads for the ZR3 on XDA!!!!
I've read an entire book on XP pro from cover to cover, owned 6 laptops, understand the in's and out's of converting and burning video's/CD's.
But would somebody please explain to me what's going on here ? And/or refer me to some appropriate tutorials.

Ah ha, the tip of the iceberg.............
Yup, XDA hasn't invented some awesome method, it's just the standard ad technology from the provider (doubleclick or dart iirc)
There's an opt-out on the ad network's site, to disable the tracking.
Is it a perk of being a recognised dev that I never see ads? I recently saw the site when I wasn't logged in and was like whaaaaaa?

I need to know which adverts it is you're seeing that are using this...
If you hover over them, try and get the domain name of it. If it's a google/doubleclick one, head to http://www.google.co.uk/privacy/ads/ for information about this. That's the google UK link, but there will be a suitable one for your region too (and I think it's a generic thing anyway)
Arent they called ad sense or something like that?

The Tweet says that we will see an announcement today or tomorrow. And their FB posts explains that they know this because they received an invite. o.0
We obviously have to take any rumour with a grain of salt but personally, I don't see why Go Launcher would want to fabricate this story as they would royally piss off a good amount of their customers if they were found to be lying.
Will update the post with the actual article in a bit. Currently on the train with restricted Wi-Fi access!

As far as significant, nothing is significant unless Google said so.
