I used CWM instead of xrecovery
And you also have wipe data, clear cache & clear dalvik cache before installing .zip from SD card

find which gapps that might be compatible to your ROM here, or since you using gingerdx try use this one, i have used the gdx before MiniCM9 but i never face this problem so i don't know which one is used for gdx, but just give it a try.. flash it via CWM..
Try this steps.. go to settings -> applications -> manage applications -> click on all tab -> scroll down, clear data in Google play.. hope this solution might work for you

If he's on stock he probably doesn't have recovery or root access
He's rooted but i don't think he has recovery?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1859515
So IF he boot recovery it will just factory reset.
Made that mistake myself.

If you are rooted and have no recovery just get Rom manager from play store and install recovery from it, the app also has a reboot in recovery option

This is the easiest way.
Procedure for our newbie friend.
1. Download rom manager from play store.
2. Open the apps then click flash ClockworkMod Recovery (need internet connection to flash)
3. After flashing click Reboot into recovery
I suggest that use the old clockworkmod(Version 5.0.2.6) because base from my experienced i always have a hard time rebooting using the touch version. It's like there is a time out, i ended always into bootloop and it takes an hour to reboot.
Hey!
You just installed a ICS for stock kernel on your Xperia x8 and it's don't want to load your home screen??? But you followed all the steps gived on this site: http://chromloop.com/2011/12/how-to...am-sandwich-on-xperia-x8-w8-use-stock-kernel/
Here is solution for you..
1.)Put your SD card on other mobile and plug it to your PC
2.)Open SD card and delete files you put for install ICS
3.)Go to folder where you downloaded ICS and copy the main folder without others to your SD card
4.)Unplug your phone and return SD card to your x8
5.)Power on your mobile and enter in the xRecovery
6.)Use full wipe to delete all data from phone
7.)go to install zip from SD card, select your ICS folder and install it
8,)Rebot your phone and it will work
IF STILL DOESN'T WORK DOWNLOAD THIS http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1473602
AND FOLLOW THE STEPS 5-8 AND IT WILL WORK FINE
This rom is not mine so use it on your own risk

Are you on stock 2.1??
If yes then it will not allow installation of huge apps directly
you have to do manually with any app with root access like titanium backup or root explorer..
