I don't think so. I did the same thing and I'm on newest firmware 7.2.1 I believe and still no ads.

this one "system_do_not_touch.apk"?
I actually had another OTA update out of nowhere. The version is still technically 7.2.1, but it went from 7.2.1_user_2030320 to 7.2.1_user_2040020.

I have not move/rename. I actually want the updates to see how they affect the system, as long as they don't fix the root exploit. The reason I was annoyed is because I didn't notice it was an update until about the third time I flashed a backup and looked closer. Now I can make a backup of that version. By the way check out the android development section, Hashcode has figured out a way to bypass the locked bootloader

I received the same update - first I was confused, why my root was gone while it still having the 7.2.1 on, because I couldn't remember what was written after user_*** I wondered what happend - but thanks to that post now I understand.
Next to the lost of root, Amazon (which don't like us playing) turned back the permissions on the dtcp_apk.apk what brought the adds on the lockscreen back. They probably just pushed a new version of this file.
Yes, I just downloaded root checker and confirm my root is gone as well. The good news is that Google play is still working. My problem is how they pushed that updated without requiring user approval. This looks like a violation of our privacy rights. I'm going to research this further.

Hey
Where is the software update actually stored on the device? (The 8/4/2011 for the LG Revolution).
Once updated, can yo install CWM? Can it be rooted?
Just hang out, it will not install through cwm. Thecubed is going to be working on it.

It possibly could install by changing it to a zip file but who knows what it would mess up. With recovery items in there it may mess up cwm, that is a little above me without doing more research into it.

He's right. Installing the update without removing some stuff from it first (like it's new boot.img and the "installrecovery.sh" script) would possibly softbrick your device.
Decrap2 will take a while to do since it's gonna take a lot of work to apply this update to my ROM (gotta flash back to stock and apply the OTA, then deodex and then remove bing all over again...)

I have two revolution devices.
One was stock (as if I bought it from a VZW store), the other one was with CWM.
The CWM with Decrap on it. (giving lots of issues with the launcher such as missing icons, etc)
Stock is on the latest LG update.
CWM is on the OEM release

I'm giving this a try: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.projectvoodoo.otarootkeeper&hl=en

It certainly may have changed, but this isn't how it worked with the original KF. When Amazon pushed OTAs they automatically updated the the os. There wasn't even a notification that they were sending the update. I remember watching my KF turn on all by itself and then reboot while wondering what the heck was going on.

Google Wallet for the HTC ONE.
-Easy fix for viper Rom
-Should work on stock rooted w/ wp . -removed Kernal
-Always save your original build.prop before modifying
Using Rom Toolbox
1. Open up build.prop editor
2. Change the following values
ro.product.model=Galaxy Nexus
ro.product.name=yakju
ro.product.device=maguro
3. Save changes
4. Reboot device, install wallet and open
-wallet takes a couple minutes to initialize so be patient, it works great!
5. Restore your original build.prop
This method should work fine on stock rooted also as long as you have a kernal with /system wp removed.
Also, if you don't want Rom toolbox you can navigate to /system/build.prop and open the file in any text editor to make the changes.

Honestly I'm not sure where I got it. I believe that it came from Viperrom. Duce says that it wasn't added in d3rpONE (I noticed mine working while I was on d3rpONE, but I think something restored it from viperrom), and the only other ROM that I've run is Viper's.

Just install the apk normally through a file explorer, no need to push with ADB, or do anything in recovery. I uninstalled mine and tested just to be sure.

Edit: Just tried it, didn't work I'm afraid, hopefully another solution will appear soon!
Try this, it's what I have to do to get time warner live tv to work.
Go into system/app and rename superuser to SuperSU.
Next, go into the build.prop and there should be something that says build tags. It should say under that, "release-keys". Delete the words release-keys, leaving that part blank. Reboot. Should work if it's the same root checks as time warner.

Based on Android 4.3 release notes, on Enterprise and Security, Restrict Setuid from Android Apps, su binaries and Superuser apps designed for previous Android generation will simply not work on 4.3:
It means preserving root with OTA Root Keeper won't be possible anymore as new rooting techniques rely on more than just a setuid su binary in /system.
I'll look into solution of course to preserve the functionality if possible, but until then please follow Chainfire's job on SuperSU betas.
