Does our hardware support Wifi Direct? Or is it supported(theoretically) just by having Wifi hardware?

its somewat working!!
Hi I can search other wifi direct devices and i can connect with them successfully but Not able to share anything between devices.
When developers can get this much to work, then there should be some way to get this fully working.
And if it has to purely do with Hardware, then its obvious no one can get this fixed for us.
Anyways someone who can confirm if its hardware or firmware??

Hmm there is a way you can confirm it for us if you can connect to another device with wifi direct, run adb logcat then try sharing something with them. Copy and paste the logcat into a blank text file and upload it here.

Do you have adb installed on your computer? If you do, when your phone is attached type in "adb logcat" and it will bring up a whole story of nonsense words and logs. That is a logcat It is useful for spotting errors
I like this one https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.jtb.alogcat&hl=en its got pretty colours.
Is there any update on this? Technically, I don't see why this wouldn't work if it gets as far as discovering devices. From what I've read, Wi-Fi direct is purely implemented in software (mostly as part of the firmware).

The files that you are sending should be recognized by the phone like mp3 jpg etc unknown file formats cannot be sent
Did you pair the two devices properly?

That is an utter nonsense, if you have a samsung like s2 you can send any type of file. This is android stock behaviour that sucks.
Bluetooth file sharing service killed by stock rom taskmanager or something ... just reboot the device and try again ..

It seems is a know issue:

Flash to stock via ODIN. Check bluetooth. Change ROM to your liking.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2019351
thank that OP if it worked for you and let us know!
Also did what ROM did you come from? You may need to do a full wipe to update and get it working correctly..
I came from pandoriam. Before i flash the new version of rxtreme , i had use the old version 2.0 if im not wrong and after updating, everything is alright. Then after restarting my phone everything became like this i can still surf the web, watch youtube but the problem is my playstore it just keep saying nointernet access and my youtube says (there was a problem with your network but the video loads well?? Ciuld it be cause of a app called freedom or because i change something in android data as i alter the com.glu.android.gwallet. then i deleted the file after rebooting as i suspected that that was the problem and so i rebooted but it is still the same do i need to reflash the rom again?
Hello guys just wanted to say that everything fixed after flashing a new rom pandoriam from rxtreme. My playstore all works again so does my internet network on my phone so does my mobile data and guess what i manage to get 4g back. When using rxtreme i dont get 4g at all

That's abit weird, rXtreme works perfectly fine on my device, 4G works as it should, no bugs that i have found on my use, good to see you sorted your issue out, but hoped you figured out the issue incase someone else runs into the same problem (hope not!)
Im not sure if its a bug in the rom or something i downloaded on my phone but i will check it out by reflashing the rom and see if it happens again. I hsope nobody else fall into the same problem with me .

hi, I had a S2 before, and it was working fine when i used GSMComm library to send SMS from my windows application project. Now, I've changed my phone to a S3 LTE, but i'm not sure if the modem in S3 LTE is different or what, GSMComm isn't working anymore. Anyone who has the same model and tried it out successfully? I used Samsung Kies to install the modem drivers for the phone, is it enough or is there other drivers missing? :/ anyone who has any knowledge on this, please try and help me out, I need to implement sending SMS function in my semestral project... It seems that commands like AT+CMGF is not working anymore for the S3 LTE modem...
I don't know if it will be of any help but I used airdroid when I'm on the PC at work. Which allow me to send/receive text from all my contact and the worth of this is you're "bluffing" your colleagues because you're typing and looking at your screen as if you were working
It's simple to set-up as you just need to enter an url adress in any web-browser.
Search on googplay to find the app and follow the instructions.
And again I don't know if it's related to your question or not but you're sending message from your number

thank you for replying, but it's not what I want. Because I'm currently doing a ASP.NET web application project which requires me to send SMS to people, and for that, previously when I have my S2 I am able to send out SMS using usb connection with the phone's GSM Modem (using AT commands), but now, using my S3 LTE, it seems that the phone is not recognising the AT commands... is there any way to install proper modem drivers? because on S2, I am able to access debugging mode, and through that I am able to send AT commands to my phone, but on S3 LTE Jelly Bean 4.1.2 the USB Debugging seems to be not working properly. Any way to fix this problem?

I'm not entirely sure on that regard, I only used it once when it was in the early stages and don't know where it has gone from there.

I see that the tmobile has 4.3 now. And sense 5
I'm also seeing that the developer are adding this into there newer bases.
I've tried changing the default.xml script.from tmo_WiFi_ims>flase< to true. And I get a android.phone. force close
How are you guys adding this into the rims ?
Any devs willing to help ?

While I can't help, I'd say you should check through the ROM zip file of a ROM that has working Wi-Fi and try to figure out what files are needed, then essentially you could copy them to another ROM. I don't know if that's kanging or whatever, or if it'll work, but is a start...

Help! Having installed {ROM}[T][STOCK][JB 4.3][UB&LB][9.2.A.0.295] Official Firmware - Rooted&Deodexed 25/02 by DaRk-L0rD on my XperiaT, my problem is that bluetooth will only pair and work with a device once. If I then turn bluetooth off on my phone and turn it back on again, it tries to connect again to the same device but fails. Not even manually trying will work, I have to unpair and repair all over again. I've tried everything and have now flashed stock 4.3 ROM where this issue disappears.
If anyone has any ideas I would really like to hear them. Thanks!
(I previously posted this question in the forums general Q&A but have had no response. In the hope that it's a Xperia issue, hopefully someone here can help. Please feel free to delete my previous post if that's part of the rules.)
Update:
It seems that the cause of this is that my bluetooth mac address keeps changing every time it tries to connect to something (windows showed as much when pairing with my phone). If anyone knows why that happens on a rooted stock rom and how to fix it then I'd love to hear any suggestions.

Mate if you're using dark lord's original 4.3 rom like I was there's now a fix for this issue somewhere in his thread. However, the new 4.3 rom (.199) posted by dark lord has the fix integrated, I'm using it now and it's working great.

I'm using this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2647459
and I did this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37265217&postcount=8
Is that what you were using before?
Also, are you saying that there is no bug on this rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2681208
because if you are I will flash it immediately
Yes mate that's the rom I was using. The fix you refer to is not what I was talking about, the fix is actually somewhere in the rom thread.
However, yeah I'm now using the. 199 rom you linked to at the end of your post and there are no more bluetooth problems, or any problems for that matter!
