Hi guys,
Was wondering if there was a workaround for ROMs which don't support FLAC lossless audio, such as Zeus and other LG GB roms?
Android versions 3.x and above support FLAC natively (as in the regular music player plays them) as well as quite a few CM7 roms.
I have recently changed back to Zeus from mokeeOS and i have quite a few albums in FLAC format which i would rather keep that way for quality reasons (i use it on my surround, car, etc.)
Cheers

Is it a kernel issue or a lib issue?
Btw thanks for reply, ill be sure to try ur kernel.

I dont really know. Because the ROM has all the libs while the Kernel communicates with it to the Hardware i guess... Not really sure.

On the other hand, the decoding of FLAC audio could be software decoding and they just bridge it somehow to communicate with the music.apk app.
Since FLAC decoding is native in ICS ROM, maybe there is a way to extract libs, kernel commits, etc from ICS source?

There is new sources up for our phone. I'm sure some of you already know, but thought I'll tell you either way. It's called V10E.
It hopefully will bring some fixes for things in CM, and more importantly kernel tweaks / OC UV for MCR Gr1.

its not that simple
Hi there,
the FM and a2dp is routed from the broadcom chip (which is doing wireless LAN, Bluetooth and? ) through the Tegra chip by nvidia which has currently not been "opensourced".
Therefore all non-stock based roms like CM aren't able to gain access to the functions provided by the Tegra chip(?).
Cheers

You can't use drivers from official GB in CM. They must be recompiled to fit exactly with CM kernel sources. And to compile them you need driver's sources, which are not published !!!
It has been asked 1.000.000 times.
You can imagine that every dev has already tried to just insert kernel compiled drivers from GB to CM... It just doesn't work.
So write to Nvidia to ask them to publish Tegra2 sources and it will be possible.
Sincerely, if you need FM radio just install Topogigi 1.6 ROM, it rocks and has nothing to envy to CM (I know I used CM till now).
topogigi is fine, but cm7 is much better!!! i will hate lg + tegra all my life now

Is this connected to the camera problems too?
My Optimus 2X struggles while viewing flash videos (and not necessarily YouTube videos) higher than 480p.
In reviews I read that the Motorola Atrix (also Tegra 2) can play up to 720p flash videos smoothly.
Why does the Optimus 2X, also with Tegra 2, struggle so much? I am on stock 2.3.4 ROM, would flashing to a custom ROM help?
Use flashplayer 10.3.5 11 is buggy

On 11 I was having problems with both 480p and 720p.
After downgrading to 10.3 I can play 480p fine but still have trouble with 720p

Do you think it's possible that there is a problem with the LG stock ROM? Could it potentially be possibly that switching to CM7 or CM9 when its stable could fix this problem I'm experiencing?
I could'n stream live tv streams in flash format, when i was using cm7. I could with miu though.
I found that streaming video's to my phone recently it was very jerky, even after a reboot.
The thing that solved it for me was the a factory reset.
After that I updated to the latest V20Q ROM, and gueste V20Q kernel and video's are fantastic, games are fantastic.. nothing jerky at all (so far).
So.. to start with (imho).. back up your data, and then do a factory reset, and see if this helps
NOTE: I have never had an issue with HD video running from the phone itself.
use: flash v. 10.3.185.25, temasek's cm kang rom, with android browser and ull get smooth 720p flash videos with no issues. tested.

I guess the problem is with the ROM I'm using (LG stock 2.3.4)
I'll look into getting a custom ROM then.
Thanks for the help guys!
yep, never had smooth 720p flash on stock or even stock based roms. temasek kangs rule, u should give them a try.

Here are drivers for ICS/JB from the Xperia Play forums.
Can this do any good for games (HD games?) As far now I am on cm10. All is working well . I do not want yo get screwed up now. If this will for sure improve gaming performance I would like to tty. But please advice this will not effect other performance......

I don't think this will work, because as far as i know these are not actually drivers but shared objects *.so (much like dll files in windows). The gpu drivers are actually compiled within the kernel and the version of these *.so files must match with the version of the gpu drivers compiled within the kernel. So unless those match i don't see these working for us. However i may be wrong, devs can throw more light on this.

Actually all version of CM7 / CM9 for Motorola Triumph, and edowar's have not been built from source. All files have been copied over and built with the source code. Here is a few examples of the code copying
CM7 MTDEV
https://github.com/MTDEV-CM7/vendor/blob/cm7/motorola/triumph/triumph-vendor-blobs.mk#L82
CM9 MTDEV
https://github.com/MTDEV-CM9/vendor/blob/ics/motorola/triumph/triumph-vendor-blobs.mk#L206
CM9 edowar
https://github.com/edowar/android_device_fb0/blob/ICS/device_fb0.mk#L230
Yes i understand that. But afaik edowar had built a 0.32 kernel with newer gpu drivers which is used in bumblebee rom ported from whyzor's cm7. If u use the same gpu drivers(*.so) in any other 0.32 based rom then they won't work without using the same edowar kernel. And i think the sources for more recent gpu drivers are taken from code aurora forum.

What HD games can you play on our ICS and JB ROMs?
Thanks.

You are correct there is some changes for those specific drivers based on the kernel (forgot to mention that ) here is the commits needed for the kernel
https://github.com/Whyzor/WX_435_Kernel-CM7/commits/master
Look at all the commits from Mar 01, 2012 and that will get you in business with those specific drivers.
Actually these libs work fine. tested in cm10 and cm9 for our device

If the libs work fine then, i don't expect any differences, cause the versions will be the same.
Hi, I have a trouble with CM10.1, I have the latest update, and WMA are still not working, while on Official JB everything was fine .. I tested several players too!
Any idea? thank you

I may be wrong, but I thought that this was down to the fact that .wma (Windows Media Audio) is a protected technology and therefore can't legally be included?
Try MX Player.
