Can't get a normal google play :( DESTROYED android life - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone , i have had this problem since forever , i can't get a normal google play store
first , the ( APPS ) homepage of the store doesn't update it self meaning that it gives me recommendations once and forever
2nd , i can't access the homepage of the market by clicking the top left google play store icon ( it's just not clickable ) , iam running the latest triamislim rom on ICS and i have the latest GAPPS installed :s
i have had this problem on JB as well , i tried marketunlocker / market enabler . but they don't seem to do much but show me the payed apps

Try this steps :
1- go to CWM and >> wipe data/cache/dalvik ;;;
2 - format system .
3- install any Gingerbread rom using odin.
4- open google play and install any app.
5- done.... you can flash any rom without problems now !

Best & simpelst is to come fresh from stock so when u encounter problems during process its easier to help so we dont have to ask what changed, when it occured (we dont know all the changes that have been made in the past) & come with solutions that"ll fix it or **** it up more & ull be more frustated. Just say the easy "factor". Plus I know in most cases it will be running without problems afterwards & ull be satisfied with x-bean or whatever rom u prefer. Just start over from "scratch" starting with flashing 3 file stock rom via odin.
Here odin & pits use 512 tick repartition: http://db.tt/yHvd2Brm
JVU rom: http://db.tt/z0WBjcFk
Flash it
When done flash
Cf root: http://db.tt/2Qre1j2k
Now u rooted go into recovery, do a full wipe (data, cache, dalvik), flash custom rom of your choice. U may have to flash custom 2 or 3 times. I recommend x-bean cuz its Running smooth & stable here. Hope u like it 2.
My tip is make a nandroid backup when custom rom is just installed & running fine. And make some more at several points of satisfaction when personalizing your rom
If you make changes afterwards & problems occure & cant fix it or find a good solution, u can just restore with the nandroid backup so u dont have to start from scratch again. It just saves u time in the future.

Did the problems also occure in GB? Or did it start when u were on jb? Either way try JVU like i mentioned in previous post, see if it makes a difference in gb. & maybe the gapps u flashed werent suitable for the jb rom u chose. X-bean has it included by the way.
About x-bean I would give it a try. Experiences are just opinions. There are always complains about every rom. But for me I dont have problems multitasking, battery life i can manage a working day, average i think between 4 or 5 hours screen on time at lowest brightness. When I go 2 sleep & wake up (mostly 8 hours) battery draining between a 2/5 %. I keep wifi on.
My settings LiveOc 120, big mem 404, ondemand ui, noop/sio, rasd 1024. Still satisfied Running smooth & stable
But at the end its on u to try it out.just flash a couple different roms, experience it & make a choice. The beauty of it is, if u dont like (anymore) flash another one till u find ur "dreamgirl"

[Q] How to get the Android 4.0?

Hello,
I recently flashed my Galaxy Note with a stock rom and i got it root and also got the CWK installed. Now I want to try to install the Android 4.0.
I read the instructions and it says:
1. Make sure you're on the latest CWM
2. MAKE A NANDROID
3. wipe data/factory reset in recovery
4. flash ROM
5. flash Gapps
6. reboot
Click to collapse
All i can understand is 1, 3, 4 and 6. Can anyone elaborate or give me some links to "Make a Nandroid" for example or what a "Gapps" is?
Thanks in advanced,
Alexw
You should do some searching and some reading before u try 4.0 if u are not familiar with how to do a back up u should probably leave ics alone for now it has been harder for people to get back from ics to gb then it is to get Ics on your phone in th first place and to do a back up u boot in to cwm go back and restore and choose back up not much to it and gapps are google apps which would be provided in download links in the main page of the rom or already in rom
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA Premium HD app
Nandroid = backup: boot into CWMR and hit Backup and restore/Backup
gapps = Google apps

Is it not possible to use a stock ROM with odin and check re-partition if I want to go back to GB?
Also I can't find a Gapps link at that topic. Can you recommend a other good Android 4 ROM?
Thanks,

hi there
just that you know so far ICS roms for galaxy note come all from a leacked ICS version who is quite unstable....so you need hard work (if you are not confident with odin) to install ICS, hard work to use it and hard work to return to Gingerbread.....when you will be fed up...
i did it and now after 2 weeks of testing on ics i returned back happily to Gingerbread....but many of the folks around even bricked their note on ICs so i recommend a lot of care prior to do any ics stuff.....
if you accept an advice....wait for ICS rom ....when a proper ics with souces will be released for our note dev will work on it and it will be ok
for now install Leomar checkrom v6 who still is gingerbread and add from kitchen their huge ICS domination theme.........you will be happy and with no big worries.....

Alright, I'll wait then. Samsung delayed the release of the ROM for the Galaxy Note to April.
leaked ics roms is lots of trouble!
just stay away from that and wait for the official version.

1. Pretty Explanatory!
2. NANDROID Backup: It backs up your CURRENT system as it is. All the settings, applications, everything is backed up! If you ever experience any problems, you can restore to this backup through CWM Recovery menu or the CWM app. I really recommend you to make a backup of your stock ROM. Always create backups!
It is pretty easy to do so too. If you have the CWM app, just open it and create a backup through the backup option. Alternatively, open CWM Recovery, scroll to backup and restore, hit backup and your backup will be created!
3. Before jumping from one ROM to another, ALWAYS perform "wipe data/factory reset". It clears everything on your phone so you won't have any problem in installing the new ROM. Also, go to advanced and perform "Wipe Dalvik Cache".
4. Search for any ROM for your note. TeamRocket ROM, RoMow ROM are some good ICS ROMs. Download them, put the .zip file to the root of your sd card and select "install zip from sd card" option in CWM Recovery AFTER you do number 3.
5. Flash GAPPS. This is just a .zip file to download all the google apps to your phone (market, etc.). Google for it! But, apart from CMX ROMs, I never needed to do this. TeamRocket, RoMow, CheckROM etc include GAPPS by default.
6. Reboot your phone through the recovery menu.
7. Enjoy! XD

1)Best way is Nandroid backup means goto CWM recovery and there select BACKUP and whole rom with all ur settings, apps apps data will be backed up on MEMORY CARD(sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/)
2)Just goto CWM do wipe data and factory reset, wipe cache
then goto advanced and wipe dalvik cache, wipe battery stats
then Select install zip from SD CARD and Start Flashing Zeus.zip that you downloaded and copied to SD CARD.
After Flashing Again do Wipe data and factory reset and Reboot your system
3)I never faced this cache memory low problem but yaa in new stock ROM v20o LG updated Low memory killer parameters so this will eliminate any lags..
I use android Booster app from play store and Set its Auto Optimisation ON so my phone Never get laggy and i use Stock Rooted v20_o btw..
Oh god its like not written for me to update or what :S !
tried unlockroot and superoneclick many times starts with killing ADB server then ends with FAILED TO GET SHELL ROOT and not rooted
any ideas ? sry for bothering
Hey...if you cant root, use smartflashtool to come back to 2.2 then root it, install CWM and install zeus
(Do erase cache, dalvik, factory default)
Btw the problem is not cache but your ram gets full quickly
Sent from my LG-P970 using Tapatalk
thanks bro but when i got in smartflash tutorial here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1448803 says i got to flash to bk v10A 1st ?!
and if its a yes its also written erases everything on phone..how can i back up my stock rom then to get bk to warranty ( when i wnt ) if i cant use cwm? and how to back it up?!
sry its just confusing me .. thought its gonna be easier xD
- and about ram or cache..it doesnt really matter what is it to me but is there a solution for that if i face it in the new cust rom ? cuz its so irritating i have to clean it up like every hour
v10 is right. It's 2.2, which is rootable with superoneclick.
theaks30 said it already, after you've flashed v10/2.2 and rooted via superoneclick, you can install cwm and flash your favourite rom.
And if you want to restore the stock rom, simply flash the v10 with smartflashtool again and you've a clean non-rooted stock rom.
But if you're phone gets a hardware-error, and you can't turn it on, you logically can't flash back to the stock rom.
Hope, I could help you.
sry but this's not really helping
and im not a tech guy so if anyone please can answer with a clear detailed answer to help i'll really appreciate it
Now i have a stock rom froyo ( unable to get shell root ) and simply wants to upgrade with a custom rom like CM7 or Zues 6.2
1- Want to make sure to get backup of the stockrom with apps and data and everything
2-wanna solve the problem of ( Unable to get shell root )
Smartflash thread intro says IT ERASES EVERYTHING when i flash so is there a way to backup the rom before rooting or flashing or even with this smartflash that i dunno?
Really wishing a clear detailed answer before i get desperate with the new OB xD !
Hmm, okay.
So, which froyo version do you have?
2.2.2 Android Version
this's what i found in About Fone xD !
Yes I know.
But wicht firmware (v10a, v10c?)
sorry not following :d where can i find this ?
Im in egypt and same about the fone if its gonna make any help
Oh w8 i found it : V10H
Okay, I don't know the firmware names in egypt.
Maybe it's the old one. (like v10a in germany)
Then you can root with gingerbreak.
Google for it.
If not, you can use superoneclick, but you've to add these steps with cmd.
http://www.handy-faq.de/forum/lg_p9..._optimus_black_root_methoden.html#post1626677
I know, it's german, but I think you understand what to do. If not, ask me, then I can translate the part.
Good luck!
Edit: If gingerbreak is not working, this should be much easier.
Download this http://www.mediafire.com/?hhzc5k4189540hu
Then connect your phone to your computer with debugging mode enabled.
Disable your firewall and run blackjack.exe (Don't forget to reactivate your firewall after this )

Returning to a 'Virgin' Clean System

So..
I've been playing around for a while with kernels, ROM's and so on... And I've made a decision to return the beast to it's virgin state..
Intentions are as follows;
- Flash Stock GB Firmware (Via PC Odin)
- Format internal / External SD
- Wipe cache / Dalvik
- Update to ICS 4.0.3 (Probably just do it OTA or I have the Odin file)
- Root
- Install Mobile Odin
- Install preferred kernel
From the above, Anyone have any additional advices?
Cheers
you missed out the biggest one, Factory reset :silly: lol
Obviously you just forgot to add it in
But other than that, That sounds spot on ! thats exactly the same procedure I do except reverting to GB you could just wipe on a safe kernel

I still find it hard to believe there are such things, even the kernel devs hesitantly use the term "SHOULD" ..
And yep, Factory reset should have been included
I dont follow ??
Anyway, Safety is the main thing and if you feel safer reverting to GB then thats fine, it only takes <10mins to flash and could be the difference between a clean note and a bricked note
ive wiped lots of times on my current kernel so i know it to be safe.

I've got SpeedMod K3-9 installed on the ICS build at the moment but as you say - it's not an epic task and for super safety I'm happier wiping and formatting in GB...

I just fancy a change lol its been a while, no doubt il be back to cleanote tomorrow but i have to satisfy the cravings

I was looking at that myself after dabbling in the PA World.. let me know what you think..
I sure will !
I really liked PA, But i was new to the Note at the time and liked the S-Pen features and apps, Now i dont really use them as much but only stayed with CleaNote to support the dev (im loyal like that )
But i get these urges to flash (in more ways than one ) and i havent flashed anything except a kernel for a few days now.
OK ran in to an issue - is standard recovery there's no format options available...hmmm
Maybe flash Abyss?
Ahh.. that's right, it's in settings ^o)
yeah flash abyss or any other CWM containing kernel, The stock one is a bag of sh!te

Managed to clear the storage int/ext from settings so will set off on the root to gettin back to where I was..Just without SpeedMod K3-9 as Wi-Fi is unstable on that..
JBroid
Question re: Jbroid Kernel cleaning script..
- Is it worth running following the above?
- If so, can I run it under ICS ( Flash Abyss > Jbroid > Flash Kernel of choice > Reboot)?
Well that went well..
Now jus need to figure out a kernel and I'm "Back in the game"

[Q] (NEED HELP) Phone restart itself into recovery after installing ICS/JB ROM's

Hi Seniors,
This became like a mystery for me..please help me to solve it.
Issue is like this if I install any custom or stock Gingerbread ROMS by phone works like a butter, no issue at all I can say.
But when I install any ICS or JellyBean ROM's it starts creating pain in my neck.
If I am using my phone it never restarts itself but when I lock my phone screen and keep it my pocket M finding that my phone is restarting into recovery mode itself.
Now here comes the strange part...If I play music using any music player and lock my screen it works fine, its not restarting itself ...but once I stop that music player and lock my handset screen in idle mode it goes to recovery in few secs
This only happens if I upgrade to ICS or JellyBean ROM's
One more issue...my wifi works fine If am having GingerBread install on my phone but when I install ICS/JB I cant even start it.
Have tried a lot to get it fixed....but
.....Even I want to taste ICS/JB Rom's like u guys...Please Help Your Rookie.
Thanks & Regards

Hey EwOkie,
Thanks for your courtesy mate...really appreciate it,
So here we go,
I had stock GB 2.3.6 ROM installed on my phone ;ie GT-I9000_XEU_I9000XXJW4_I9000OXAJW4_I9000XXJW4.zip,
after that I rooted my phone using CF-Root-XX_OXA_JW4-v4.4-CWM3RFS,
then I did factory reset, wipe cache and dalvik cashe and installed GamerzRom v11.0 which is a GB ROM,
so far no issue...wifi is working fine, phone is not at all giving me any auto restart issue...its was working like a charm,
then I found ICS_F4k_MOD_v4.0.4_I9000_r3.zip which is an ICS ROM,
I did factory reset, wipe cache and dalvik cache, the I installed ICS_F4k_MOD_v4.0.4_I9000_r3.zip using CWM Recovery console,
it was booted fine to home screen...later on I tried connecting my phone using my wifi router I found that WiFi was not switching on at all,
I locked my phone using lock button then after few secs I am finding my phone is restarting itself in recovery mode,
restarted my back to normal and again the same issue,
I ignored it,
Then I downloaded C-RoM Mix v7 Latest 4.2.1.zip in which had a wifi bug fix,
I did factory reset, wipe cache and dalvik cache,
I flashed it using clockworkmod recovery and had eactly that same issue which I had on ICS ROM,
for WIFI issue I tried flashing wififix.zip and found no resolution,
my phone went into boot loop of Samsung Logo,
then I flashed it back to original stock rom GB 2.3.6 and my phone started working like the way it should be.
This is the whole story
I moved from GB to ICS and then to JB.

Ok first up thanks for the info....
When doing a complete wipe before installing another rom make sure you wipe all 4 :
Data / Factory Reset
Cache Partition
Dalvik Cache
Battery Stats
Unless the Developer for the Rom States otherwise.
I know that there are a few ICS Roms that have a lot of bugs please check Info on them before Downloading
Should tell you whats working and whats notto save hassle
As I really only use GB Roms (my own preference)
Might help to try different Modems for your Romas this can help signal/network strength, where do you stay?
Yeah flashing back to 2.3.6 will work all the time as its basically stock.
No matter what Custom Rom I try I always flash JVU 2.3.6 then Root it > then the Custom Rom I want
I never just overwrite it with another Rom...
Hopefully someone with the same Rom as yourself may help as I dont want to give wrong info ....
Or Ask on the Rom site the issue your having with it
If you do need my help ... just ask

Hi EwOkie,
Thanks for sharing your experience.
I am followed everything what u just mentioned in ur reply allready...but no go
Me & my GF we both have i9000 and I have followed same installation process on both the phones...her phones works like a charm but mine is like an incomplete soul.
One more thing mate,I really dont understand this ......can you tell me what difference it makes to have JVU 2.3.6 or some other version...how exactly its works....u know what I mean to say.
No idea why we use 2.3.6 JVU with CF Root (Kernel for Recovery) we just do ,, suppose its the best to start with before flashing a Custom Rom
So your partners phone works ok and yours doesnt.. did you try using the PIT File and re-partition?
Check my signature at bottom its a HOW TO Guide incase you get lost
As I says I dont have a lot of experience with ICS or JB Roms as the ones i flashed in the past werent as stable and had some bugs in them
Thats why i stuck with GB Roms
plz help me
today i install a custom rom lollipop in sony xperia c3 dual
but now my phone refused to start even same issue recovery mode... now my phone completely death.. when i try to start it red +green blink but fast mode work easily .. & when i connect my phone to charger it restart it self again & again ... its show only sony logo and its restart again ..plz help me

[Q]what rom and android version is best

Hi there. I have samsung galaxy s1 and its so slow!!! Most of time i have 270m ram using so im asking what is the best combinition of rom+android version will be best for battery saving, and basiclly for lower ram memory so my device will woek fast.

Sorry for my english try to understand
What Android version are you using?
1. If you're running a jelly bean rom and you wanna change the rom, you will have to factory reset (meaning all your apps will be gone). Most (If not all) jelly bean roms require that. Im not sure about Gingerbread.
2. To backup your phone so you could restore it later you need CMW. If you have it installed all you need to do is boot into it, select backup and restore and then choose backup and if later you wanna go back to your previous android rom you can click restore. you can also choose to back your android up to an sd card by choosing Backup to external storage (or whatever its called).
3. Good roms are: Gamerzrom, Cyanogenmod 10.1 (or you can choose 10.2 if you want Jelly bean 4.3), Slimbean
4. Usually installing roms is fast and simple and can take up to 5 minutes if you know what youre doing.
Ty laptop but i dont realy understand in android. And i have 2.4.4 android version i have no problem switching it

You should try mackay rom. It is very stable, smooth and you get 395mb ram.
