[Q] What rom can i install on my p1000 gsm . plz help a noob. .

i need a rom based on 2.3.3 but should be a simple intallation , with theme feature built in. plz help me , btw my phone is rooted . . . .

I have a gsm p1000 and use the overcome 4.0 gingerbread rom by alterbridge86 on xda developers site. It's quite stable, smooth and fast. No problems after a month of use.
Site is down atm but the alternridge forum has mirror sites with the appropriate files.

Hello you didnt tell how to flash the rom
And please can u tell me that y in SGT we use odin to flash the rom y cant we flash directly from recovery like we do in other andtoid phones. Using odin is too complex for me.

you surely can install rom from CWM Recovery just head to overcome thread in dev section or any gsm rom thread in dev section and read in.
if you already have CWM then its easy.

I think i have cwm i have rooted my tab and when i restart my phone i press some key and several options comes like reboot flash advanced and all that is it CWM????

Overcome is down for now. Here's a mirror = guide... In the event of preferring zips to install ; take a look at AF974's recent ROM.
As for theming, use the Kitchen and build a theme to measure.

The step-by-step install is in the mirror-guide I posted earlier....

You can do this for GB stock'ish or just go with full_overcome4.0 rom which is an all in one rom+kernel
Go here and download gbsafe_v5. Zip. It has everything you need including drivers and odin files

Also download overcome-kernel_4. 0.tar file as well.
Once you downloaded these two files plug in your tab to usb and wait for that phone and pc screen or download mode screen.
Go here and follow steps up to 10.

Your phone is now stock'ish GB with OC'ed kernel including custom clockwork recovery. This version also comes with phone capabilities unlocked so you can use it like a real phone. All you have to do is load tmobile. Modem file. If not then use as wifi only.

Hi,
Loosing the TouchWiz depends on the ROM you choose to flash, most (if not all) custom Rom's don't include it and stay as close as possible to stock/AOSP...

not sure if anybody know what could've caused my P1000 to
reboot whenever i turn off Flight Mode with sim card inserted.
i'm a proud OverCome user since OverCome 3.1.
wiped off my tab after system slowed down cos i wrongly forced
move app to SD.
i install it 100% using the guide with wipe option,
my tab got rebooted whenever phone calls coming in or after phone calls.
flashed with stock rom from samfirmware, tried DXJPC, JPJPC.. all same results.
pit file is gt-p1000_mr.pit
not sure what problem..
i'm using P1000, Malaysia (GSM)

Not a hundred percent sure but I think the device needs the reboot to register the sim.

another annoying question , my phone has calling feature , 3g 2g nd wifi i have image attached at first page for device information you need but plz tell me what is the difference in my stock rooted rom and overcome 4.0 . and whats the deal about modems ? i dont know about mine ..... i would really appreciate a simple asnwer man ...... thanx btw ....

The deal about modems is the differences in supported bands. You seem to be originally on modem DDJPA (baseband) If you flashed the OC 4 you should still be on it as OC doesn't include modems. Your best guess is to take a look at the modem thread and pick JPZ or JQ2, as I did
BTW, OC 4.1 is out with a more up to date kernel based on GB 2.3.6...

Hi,
You might want to check the Overcome 4.1.0 thread... they have several packages of 'removed' apps, you may get lucky there.

I am on CM7.2 copper kang +ICS bld final by jusada+ allinone script ...
Baseband 2.3.4 DDKQ6[India]... using CW 5
i want to upgrade my baseband to 2.3.6 .....
How can i achieve it safely .....
do plz answer these tooo.....
1. can i flash new firmware simple as changing roms like in odin ...
2. is there a need to unroot... if so how shall i proceed ( i do know about basic firmware flashing without root...),, i mean how shall i unfold my changes to original..
3. do i need to remove clockwork mod 5??? and if so plz state the way... i dont find any safe method till now for my search...

1.didnt undarstand
2.there is no need to unroot to flash a fw from odin.
3.there is no need to remove cwm5.
4.not that much.in every fw there are new bug fixes or it mainly effect stability.it
has a very litle effect on performance.

yeah first download firmware from here u need to register on this site.and there is guide to use odin on this site read it carefully first-

ALso one thing i would like to you before i flash...
SOMEONE SAID CW5 is for CYANOGENMOD only.....
plus 2 days earlier---- i factory reset from CM5 after installing CM5 ON MY GALAXY ACE.. IT WENT INTO BOOTLOOP... THE bootanimation never ended .. then i flashed cm7.2 AND it was all well...
plz clear my doubt --- will there be again such problem on installing new 2.3.6????
also plz tell india mein 2.3.5 better or 2.36??

I don't know that much about cwm5 but see when u flash new firmware cwm5 will be removed and there will be new normal stock recovery.before flashing just wipe factory reset and
Data and also cache partion to be on safe side.have a happy flashing

One more thing I never factory reset my phone.so don't know much if problem resist.account to me all baseband are same so ask someone else.....

Theres nothing like CWM5 only working with cm7,its utter foolishness :/ Who told you that?
You might have messed up something,somewhere,its common
If you do everything in the instructions box,no..If you dont,well....
India mein kya hei,2.3.5,2.3.6 ko aloo banayega?lol...i was jk.It works the same all around the world.Its not the version but the baseband that makes the difference...I suggest KPH.There are a lot of other basebands though

2)No,no need to unroot,Recovery isnt an apk file to get su access ...I dont know why but i have seen many people are asking this same question around :/ Do i need to unroot before flashing this and that...
3)No,the firmware will remove it for you..When you flash another firmware,it will replace your custom recovery with the original android recovery

How important is to upgrade baseband when flashing a custom CM7 rom?
I mean, my baseband is the one that came with my carrier and is:

Do I need to upgrade to any of this roms before flashing a custom CM7 rom?

Yes. Does it makes any sense what I am asking? I mean, when using cm7 it does not matter if I im using a 2.3.3 or a 2.3.6 baseband?

samsung s5830i- s5360

Problem is that first time root and after flashing new rom is phone ****ed up. No more rom changes, and conecting usb cabel to kies looks phone name gt s5360

Sorry for little info, rom called zgreed.
I had used search, but my inglish is verry bad, and understanding some things are not as it cold be. For prevented another bad steps i preffer to ask.
Right now thing is that sd card is empti(made wipe data or something- by reading might help) so all bad and help needed

Deodexed? Any Young ROM?
If so just flash original frimware via Odin 1.85/1.84. Use the search bar. Its there for a reason.

Did you succeed in installing any Rom with Odin after you saw the error with factoryfs.img?

okay well shall we start from the beginning i havnt had any luck with it soo far battery woudnt charge so i purchased a external charger .. it wouldnt let me back into download mode because of low battery . soo battery has been in the charger now for bout a hour or so and its charging grate ive stuck the battery into the phone and now in download mode with no sweat .. its recognising on odin . which i think its 1 step good .
next i need to find a safe kernel and rom that could work onto my phone .. i dont mind if its ginger bread or ics
but i prefer ics
... im able to get into recovery mode also ??

I will not start from the beginning: obviously you didn't accept the "message": you bricked your device if Odin stopped at factoryfs.img.
So the options didn't change:
a) replace motherboard for complete repair by Samsung
b) use the workaround here in the forum with repartition (and excluding damaged sectors)

all im asking is what is a good rom to use ??? and kernel ?

it depends on you.. if you want stock and stable.. go for any latest ICS roms. JB roms are leaks so there will be bugs in them... XXLSA and XXLSC both are good. there are odin flashable roms of LSA & LSC in general and dev section of this forum

Rom from any region will just work fine.

And still ignoring the fact that he admitted in his first of three threads: stuck in odin at factoryfs.img.
So showing him different possible Roms in the usual threads and tutorials won't help him.
If it still stops at the same step in Odin (and he didn't answer this question) he has only the two remaining options:
repair by Samsung or workaround with repartition.

Recently I flash my Galaxy S for CyanogenMod 10.1.2 and now my phone is blocked in Recovery mod, same when I reboot.
I can use all option in the recovery mod.
What i can do please, i don't want brick my Galaxy S ?

Can you get to dowload mode (vol down + home + power)? If you can do this than everything will be okay. Lets say you can do this - you'd have to get Odin and one of stock ROMs, froyo or gb - your call + 512 pit and flash it to your phone.

I solved my problem by myself, when i was blocked in Recovery room I could use all menu and for this reason I (réinstall ?) Cyanogenmod, after that, I reboot my phone and it works perfectly now.
I don't know if you understand me and if my english is good for you but if someone has the same problem than me, please tell me, I will try to do my best for explain my answer.

Flashing JB roms take a max of three flashes, coming from CM9.
1 for setting up the new partition (which is why you get the "This rom uses an incompatible partition, please reselect to reinstall")
Another for flashing in a new kernel and the new partition (which is where you were)
Last one for flashing the rom itself.
