Would somebody mind giving me a run down on S5830i baseband versions please, i.e. a list of what ones there are, what's newer, what's better, are they region specific, etc?
At the moment I have PDA: S5830iXXLA2 and PHONE: S5830iXXLA1, are they supposed to be the same?

yes, the firmwares for Acei are region specific. But on personal experience I can say that flashing firmware of other regions doesnt harm the phone. The latest firmware available is XXLI1
click thanks if I helped
Just for your info:
XXLI1
XXL: stands for the year 2012 (XXA: 2001; XXB: 2002; ... XXL: 2012)
I: stands for the month November (A: January; ... I: November)
1: is the revision number
If you type the number *#1234# you see the:
PDA version
PHONE version

Where did u get THAT from??
Did u guess it??
I think this info is wrong.
For instance why was the november version (I) launched in september?
Appreciate the replies and info, thank you :good:
Did michielvDroid mean "I: stands for the month September" since I = 9th alphabetic letter which translates to the 9th month, September??

We've had it like that since at least 2006.... besides you can have a look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18798766&postcount=1
I installed the Hong Kong LA2, and its pretty much all the good bits from LA4.
It does seem to be pretty snappy right off the bat with the stock kernel, although the touch screen sensitivity seems to have gone to pot. Easy fix though.
Think I will rest with this until ICS comes, maybe with Abyss for the CMW recovery.
So for example, the one from Emirate is not last one because it is LA2 ... the last one is LA4 like the one from Germany right?
Well, the numbers don't mean much. The emirates one is essentially LA4, but customised for UAE region and operator. I.e. Languages, keyboards, and possibly an appropriate modem
An example is the LA2 Hong Kong ROM includes all the features on LA4, but includes the Chinese language options and keyboards
hkgrob,
Following the thread that I wrote (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1356325), newer versions should be at least LA7 (we have had LA6 Serbian verion posted a day or two ago) or LBsomething. Any other version would not add anything to the system itself but probably correct some local issues.
Maybe including this correction on an LA6 or newer system would be nice then
Thanks @The_Steph, good thread. My explanation to ashkan was possibly over simplified.
My experience in flashing to the latest Hong Kong firmware just to test, is that it is essentially LA4 localized.
Lets hope these are the last firmwares for GB... Samsung seems to have been busy over the last few days
Side note, I think your code for Hong Kong in the thread is incorrect, as it should be ZS, not ZC
ALL Firmwares are in 2nd post Enjoy!
Hi,
I am noticing too many firmware links from file hosts like Terafile , Rapidgator and Deposit files
These are not allowed on XDA as they breach XDA RULES # 13
Neither are links to sites like sammobile , and samsung-updates , which breach rules # 11 & 13
So , I am calling upon the good nature of XDA users to upload any firmware to any of these "Good" file hosts and post them in this thread for the benefit of all S5 users:

Terrafile & Rapidgator suck terribly! Not sure why anyone would use them anyway The speeds are terrible!
I highly recommend Mediafire out of all of them, Dev-Host is pretty good but they have annoying Fake Error messages that will pop up on Android saying "You have a Virus" or some fake junk like that. And I don`t like when People make multiple threads for EACH firmware I think there should be 1 thread for all of it.

Your Welcome , I actually had a few to upload last night but forgot too Uploaded them Just now! Just Keep Checking in I probably wont keep keep updating with a post each time lol
DOES anyone here have a Terrafile or Rapidgator account to help me out here? There are a TON of the firmwares hosted there but I can only download 1 every hour but yet it takes 10 hours to download PER file unless I pay money, I have a 2 gigabit connection so it only should take a min to download and upload. SO I can host these files for everyone to download. Thanks!, So if someone wants to to either donate money for an account or donate an account That would be AWESOME! But it would take me months to mirror all these files I have.

Thanks for the links but..
I`d remove those links... The Mirror links require to PAY to download cause the file is larger than a certain size, and the first link has porn ads and the speeds are just as bad as the other links so I`m pretty sure those links are not allowed sadly. I already have some German links I just gotta get them downloaded to upload them to my server.

Hi,
May I remind you of the XDA RULES # 13
This is the reason why these file hosts are not allowed on XDA.
Please bear this in mind next time , or ask if you are not sure.
After using various rooted stock roms, I couldn't find someone maintaining newest versions so I decided to. Here is the first one, once I get developer status on androidfilehost to upload. These are rooted, knox free, with init.d support. If you want other stock roms done like this please link me to the sammobile firmware and I'll try to do it.
Again, I take no responsibility for these files, and/or if you brick your device. I am building these with archikitchen and have tested a couple but cannot test all of them.

no problem. i have run stock international roms on all my phones since gs2, but it seems the stock roms here aren't being maintained like some of the galaxy note devices. dr ketan is a great dev for the galaxy note's and gave me the idea to do stock roms with root/init.d and knox removed.
i run this rom daily, and have had no requests for others so i'll leave it like it is for now.

Can this be flashed on SM-G900A. if yes, can you say how please.
Hello, I would like to share with you that today sammobile and Kies has published a new firmware for SM-T705M (TAB S 8.4 LTE), see below.
A few questions on the subject, if you will:
But what's the diference in the new PDA, CSC? Since I was expecting android 5 to be release to my device, it is a wonder why Samsung would post a "new" 4.4.2 release (not even a 4.4.4!!).
Anyone knows what is the Changelist sammobile posts? Anyone can realize what are the diferences between this and the old firmware (T705MUBU1ANG1)?
In a rooted my device it shows KNOX warranty. Have checked about it on XDA, I understand that it unresetable, ok, but it is re-flashable to stock firmware. I think this only will void the device's warranty when servicing in authorized samsung service centers. Can anyone confirm this?

Thank you all for your time for reading! Cheers!
Yes, knox cannot be reversed once it is ticked. And yes, you can install whatever you like, stock rom as well of course. But usually the custom roms are much better.
1 and 2. Samsung doesnt post changelogs that much. My guess it would probably be bug fixes.
3. Well some people claimed that they still got service even if knox is tripped. If its an hardware issue then my guess is that samsung can fix it. If its software most likely they wont fix it.
