Google account sync disabled? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Seems strange it syncs ok if I select the individual parts or even sync all! Anyone knows what is going on?

I see this too and would like to know why. It's really sad no one has responded to your post by now.
I am using the AT&T Galaxy SIII variant but this particular issue doesn't appear to be device-specific.

Figured it out. In GMail hit Settings then select your account. From there hit Sync and check Auto sync apps. Then select your account and checkmark all that you want to sync.

[Q] Sync contacts with background data off?

Simply for better battery life, I've been considering dropping background data and autosync. However, when I do that, I notice that my ability to sync my contacts and calendar with Google becomes greyed out.
How do I keep syncing my calendar and contacts with Google even with background data disabled?
You have to do it manually. Auto Sync is part of the background data.

I understand that, but I can't find a way to auto-sync. If I go into the accounts that sync under settings, it only shows "*account* sync is off". When I go into it, it shows the date that it last synced. No other options.
If you tap on one of them (contacts, calendar, or gmail) it will sync.

[How to] stop Gmail from importing contacts.

Hello all,
I cannot seem to get my Gmail contacts to stop importing into my phones contacts.
This is a problem because I use Craigslist a lot, and keep getting random emails and pictures of people I don't know in my phones contacts.
Any help is always appreciated

Facebook contacts not showing..

I have created Facebook account and it's working in socialhub but I couldn't get the contacts to sync with device. In GB there will be an option to check whether do or do not sync contacts. But I couldn't find it in ICS. How to solve this?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
go to your contacts and hit settings. then accounts. Then check off the "sync" icon next to facebook
^^ Copy That.
Else you can do one more thing. Reinstall the FB app. Once I got stuck in somewhat similar thing like that.
I found that my facebook application which was restored by titanium backup didn't actually sync well with contacts. so had to reinstall.
I checked it and its in green color. When I go further it shows only messages and calendar. It didn't show up contacts. Any idea?

I'm talking about inbuilt social hub which lets the contacts to sync with Facebook account.. Can I re install that?

Why don't you use the fb app which is AVAILABLE in market. It also syncs in the same way.
Sure it will work.. But I don't wanna pile up with apps. Social hub has to do this job and I wanted to do it. Actually when I was GB I'll remove all social hub related apps (twitter account, linked account, even default mail app) except Facebook account, still it was syncing contacts flawlessly. Now I wanted the same. Does ICS doesn't have that capability??

Should I remove all Facebook items from ICS and install third party apps from market?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Well I think you should wait for some more time till a solution comes out. I had the same problem with SocialHub. I chose over FB Market App since I didnt have time & wanted to get my contacts asap back. :/ Still will send you any info which might be helpful on this topic
Thanks.. Just now Google it... It seems there is a bug in ICS that stops sync contacts particularly in contactsprovider.apk. We need to add some .xml file it seems. Which is too tech for me so m gonna search some other option for this.

Gmail problem

Hello everyone,
I have a big problem. My gmail app doesnt work correctly anymore. I pre-installed it some times but it doesnt fix the problem. I used 2 or 3 apks but all of them have the almost same version. As i said it did work but not anymore.
Using rom: stocklite 7.1
Gmail version: 2.3.5.2
Problem: if im getting a mail it doesnt show me that. It only says no conversation or something like that. The only way im sometimes able to check up the email is the point in the settings important mails.

Thread moved to Q & A section, post I'm the relevant section next time.
Hmmm. Do have priority inbox set up? Have you checked Gmail is set to sync (in settings > accounts and sync > tap on Google account and set Gmail to auto sync)? If you are going to try uninstall it in order to reinstall don't forget to wipe the app data. Try a different app like k9 and if the problem persists you can be sure the problem is with your account and not the Gmail app itself. I hope this helps as I'm not exactly certain I completely understand the problem. Sorry
