hi guys,
i purchased an at&t captivate which has cognition rom on it. the seller took the sd card out, market is not installed etc. i tried flashing stock rogers rom, updated firmware but it reports sdcard busy when i boot in recovery mode.
thanks in advance.
This doesn't belong in Development.
As to the OP, does the phone turn on: ie can you get to the homescreen and such?
yeah the phone turns on. i can make calls, receive texts, surf over wifi etc.
gtalk cannot launch, cant connect to rogers 3g network..
i need to get a rom loaded on there. any rom, can i load cognition using adp?
do an odin 1click restore and see where that gets you if you can.

Ok.. First , It is an att phone so I am going to assume it has an att cog rom on it YES? Second .... There are Samsung calls the internal storage of the phone an sd card... there is also a spot for an external sd card. The Phone has the internal card or the phone wouldn't boot.
I am curious as to which you are having problems with.... the root or the flashing
You do have to be rooted to flash a rom unless youre using Odin
And Rom Manager makes Everthing Nice!!
Anyways the External (microsd) sd card is in /sd/sd
internal is just sd
You are wanting to use an Att phone on a different network so this Requires :
A: 1. Reflash Cog. 2.3b6 (which will include att bloatware plus "market.)
2. Use the tips and tricks to sideload apps in 2.2 .
3. Unlock the phone for use with Rogers Network.
B. 1. Reflash to att cog 2.3b6 and do the root , and the unlock
2.Flash your rogers rom. you should be set.
I am curious as to which you are having problems with.... the root or the flashing
hope to hear

working!
thanks for the reply guys.
i had trouble with flashing any new roms so used odin3 to go back to the stock at&t one.
rooted the phone, then installed recovery. created a backup of the stock rom with root and have flashed axura rc1.
back in business and testing roms!
I did root my phone, and installed ROM manager from android market. Then I got an microSD card, and downloaded two ROMs to the card.

I followed both methods, and I cant get it isntalled. Did a full wipe and couldnt install. Anyone got a guide for this?
ROMs ive tried was update-cm-7.0.3-encore-signed
and Fr17-vanilla-update-modacocustomrom-2x-kitchen-unsigned
try it with an other sd card, with my 8 GB SD i cant install anything, but with my old 1 GB card i can install all roms and other stuff

7.0.3 looks wrong. cm support for 2x starts with 7.1

Hello, I just bought a droid to use temporally after selling my thunderbolt. I noticed the phone is already rooted and running 2.3 gingerbread. There is no backup of the stock rom as there was no sd card.
My question is how do I unroot and go back to a completely stock rom? I want to do this then make a backup and then root again... Do I need a different radio since im on gingerbread now?
EDIT:NEVERMIND GOT IT!
Hey guys, first post here so let me know if I'm doing anything wrong!
I was feeling ambitious today, so I went ahead and installed the Supernexus 4.0 rom on my i9305t. Install worked fine, and all was well and good until I noticed my SIM card wasn't being read.
I did the classics - rebooting, reseating the card etc.. with no success. Reinstall didn't work either, nor did an alternate version of the rom (check the linkdump).
Any ideas? I'm pretty excited about the rom, so I'd rather not have to flash stock!

Hi all, i have got an S3m (stock) for my wife & wanted to root & install custom rom before i gave it to her, then just pop her sd card in. Is this possible/advisable or am i better off waiting & using the sd card she has?. many thanks....
Before installing the Custom ROM you need to Install a custom Recovery like TWRP. This is possible via Odin. The you can flash your custom rom via Odin or Recovery. Rooting is not necessary before flashing ity i guess.
A guide how you have to do that can be found in the roms thread.
Hope I could help you!
Ok, cheers for that mate, but what i was trying to ask was can i use separate sd cards for rooting & custom rom & then just put the card she has in her phone(stock gb) at the mo? new phone is a gift. i want to install kk based rom on new phone. hope thats a better explanation..
Roms are stored in the phone internal memory, so swaping SD cards is not a problem.
have it sorted now, thanks for the help guys, wife very happy........
