My Sensation XL isn't recognizing my sim card, I've had this problem twice before and sent it off to HTC for repair which they did promptly. Both times the form that they returned with the phone said that they only re-flashed the ROM. I tried downloading the Asia WWE and Thailand ROMs (I live in Thailand and bought the phone here) but they both bring up the error 'invalid bootloader'. That's because the one on Football's link is an old one that is 1.11.1113.1. The one that HTC has on the phone now is 2.33.1113.1. Football's Thailand RUU won't work and I downloaded the correct 2.33.1113.1 file from HTC but it is a tar.gz file, runnymede-ics-crc-3.0.16-e946e68.tar.gz. Is there any way that I can flash it on my phone? I hate to have to send it back to HTC Repair again if I don't have to.
Try another card or this is hardware problem.

Hello,
After the OTA update, my Vivid doesn't want to turn on at all. When I connect it to USB I get QHSUSB_DLOAD and nothing happens.
Any ideas ? Thank you !
Your phone is done. There is no way to fix the problem beside getting a new phone.

I wouldn't say that. Since the chipset could be written, it is not completely dead. Sensation users have already found a fix for this, but it is a different chipset.
We don't have the files needed to recover. Either you need to get it replaced under warranty or insurance.

Which OTA update? As far as I know AT&T and Telstra are the only two carriers to have released their ICS update OTA. If you're actually on Voda in Romania I don't know what would have possessed you to try installing one of those two OTAs.
..
The phone is from AT&T. It didn't have any sim card in it when I got the update.

to be honest, ur best bet is to call htc service and warranty and see if you can ship it to them

Serious Help Needed
Hello everyone. Sorry to even waste your time, but I am in need of help with my HTC Vivid. I am on an unrooted, locked bootloader, and I have been trying to upgrade to the newest ICS OTA update that I missed with the dialer code.
I have downloaded the PH39IMG.zip, and it updated my HBoot to 1.85.0024. This is where I am stuck. The phone will only show HTC on startup, and then goes black. Again I am on an unrooted HTC Vivid. Any help would be hugly appreciated. Please help out a simpleton.
Thanks for your time.
Unlock the bootloader in fastboot.
Flash recovery in fastboot
Flash boot in fastboot
Flash Rom of your choice

Did you run the PH39IMG file twice? it needs to run the file twice to complete updating the HBOOT. In any case, and this goes for all who are not very familiar with Vivid flashing, USE THE RUU!
In your current state, try to boot into bootloader (you probably already know the process, but it is power + vol down from power off state) Once you have booted into bootloader, you can proceed and upgrade to stock ICS. If you decided to run custom roms after, it is easy and much much less likely to brick your phone.
Hallelujah
Thanks so much guys. Those were helpful tips, and I have ICS running now. Thanks again. Have a good one.
:crying::crying::crying:
After I got my Vivid, I upgraded my vivid to ICS from RUU on htc.com, and had no problems at all using for more than 4 weeks with HTCDev unlocked, root and S-OFF. I decided to use custom ROM and installed Marine_Blue_WhiteBase_HOLIICS.zip theme for holics mistaking it for the ROM without wiping data/cache/dalvik/battery stats and without making a backup, then my phone boots and gets stuck at "Android is upgrading" Starting Applications... and rebooted a number of times without success.
I racked up everywhere to solve the Android is upgrading issue but found only SGS II related solutions and suggestions to install ROM afresh.
I made a backup of this just incase I find a solution later, wiped data/cache/dalvik/battery stats, then installed kozmikkernel RC2 and Virtuous Inquisition ROM. Everything went fine but no mobile network. I rebooted a couple of times, reinserted sim, tried another sim all to no avail. I found out it could be a problem with IMEI and did *#06# and got blank IMEI ("IMEI ").
I relocked bootloader and flashed stock ROM, and I'm still getting blank IMEI when I check *#06#.
Please help....
EDIT: I know now that the problem is with the RIL or probably radio library files...but I just can't figure out what to do yet. Also this problem is with SGSII and HOX (HTC One X)... But I'm wondering why on earth I'm the only Vivid user with this...

I have tried all these with no success... Since the IMEI is blank when I type *#06#, I don't think the problem is with the settings, I'm afraid I might have wiped some config that has to do with the phone's radio... Please help!!!, this phone is barely 2 months old!

Problem a solvo!!!...
I eventually flashed stock GB and IMEI was still blank with no mobile network, so I switched off the phone for a while to relax and admit the problem can't be solved.
Then I touched the power button by mistake and when the phone came up, BINGO, it brought my network.
I checked IMEI and Baseband and everything is up and good!!!
I lost count of how many times and stuffz I've flashed to get this thing back, but then I have the knowledge
Thanks guys...

Guys, I installed custom ROM (wiped before) and the baseband is gone again. I repeated what I did to solve it the first time, but no luck this time.
I know the problem is directly related with the RIL, but I'm not sure if the radio.img can't be found or can't be loaded or if there are no library files (from research).
I'd appreciate any help...
[EDIT]
I seem to have found what caused this!!!
I racked up all I could about baseband and saw THIS.
I checked getprop ro.baseband, got N/A as usual, so I did setprop ? and it gave me the syntax,
then I did setprop ro.baseband 3.26.5XXX (<--- mainver: in android-info.txt in RUU.zip) and did a reset and my mobile network is back, and brought my IMEI and baseband with it and everything is cool.
I'll update to ICS, play with the network to see if it has come to stay, do same with Holics ROM and then I'll mark this thread as solved and go to bed .
I'll also let the SGSII guys know if it'll help them, when I wake up
HOw can I download Official gingerbread ROM

Hi,
I am planing to flash T-Mobile radios to HTC Vivid since i have 1 sitting around useless. I know the risks, and willing to take it. I have heard one guy on this forums has achieved it alredy. I have downloaded KID and VK1 radio files already. But before I go ahead and screw up something would someone be kind enough and explain me how to flash these radio files step by step. Also one more thing i didnt find anywhere is where would be stock AT&T radio files that I can flash back in case T-Mo ones dont work? Am i at risk of softbriking phone in a way that can not be recovered? ( If not I am planing to go ahead with it). Someone with lots of experience of flashing radios, if you can provideme with step-by-step instructions, I will truely appreciate it.
Thanks.

I believe you would flash the radio partition like any other partition. Not sure if the phone will accept the foreign radio image, but it will be interesting to see the results. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong about the following:
1) You should have the drivers for your phone installed
2) Your bootloader should be unlocked via htcdev.com
3) Put the radio.img file that you would like to flash in the same folder/directory that contains your fastboot.exe file
4) Boot your phone into bootloader mode and choose "fastboot" mode then plug the phone into the PC USB.
5) In a command prompt window, go to the directory/folder that has your fastboot.exe and the radio.img file
6) Run this command: fastboot flash radio radio.img
I think it's a good idea to stand by for a bit and see if anyone corrects me, in case I am wrong. I'm thinking that if the phone doesn't accept the radio image, it will tell you and it won't flash. OR... if it does flash, and your phone doesn't boot properly, you should still be able to get into Bootloader->Fastboot in order to flash back your original radio.
To get the original radio from your stock RUU installer: When you run an HTC RUU exe, it takes a little time to extract whatever files it needs. Once you get to the very first step of the RUU (where you get to click buttons), I believe you can go to C:\Users\whoever\AppData\Local\Temp (for Win7 users) and then sort by modified date. You should see a folder that was very recently created. If you poke around in there, you may find a file called "rom.zip". That should be the stock rom from the RUU and the radio may be in there. Take a look...
the phone will be hard bricked. the only phones that i know can use a different model radio is smasung because they are developed very similiar.. u can try it and go to the unbricking process and see for your self.
This is a very bad idea.
The only HTC device that might have compatible radio us the HTC amaze. The amaze has a LTE radio but its disabled for the most part.
If it worked you would then have to figure out how to use the amaze ril as our ril would not be compatible.

So how do i proceed?
Thanks a lot guys for replying SO FAST,
Anyways If i do this and it briks, is it going to be permanent brick for radio??? Or is it a reversible process?
Also I was thinking of same that flashing radio files for HTC sensation or amaze would be far better idea than flashing ones from samsung, Can anyone point me in right direction where do i get them? I see in first reply the procedure posted of how to flash different radio files already. Let me know what you guys think...

Hey guys. I just bought my HTC One (via Sprint) a few weeks ago and decided today to root my device.
I followed the youtube videos to a tee and got the device rooted. When I tried to flash a ROM is when I ran into issues...
I first tried Maximus HD 21 - but in my haste, upon installation, I didn't realize it said International One (Where I supposedly needed Sprint). The installation continued but once I rebooted the device it became stuck at the HTC Splash screen. Is there a chance that by running this "International" ROM, it permanently ****ed up my cell phone's radio signal/other aspects?
After that failed, I then wiped all caches/dalvik caches and tried the Bad Boyz ROM. No luck here either. I've tried a few others (insertcoin), to no avail. I made sure these were compatible with Sprint, but still I get stuck on the splash screen. Occassionally, when I get through to the phone itself, my mobile data won't become recognized, and the phone will reboot itself randomly.
Please help me. I'm at my wits' end. I've tried everything I know how to do. I've been trying to flash a stock ROM just to get it back to working order, but I can't figure out which one to use.
Any advice at all is welcome!
tl;dr - Not bricked, but not in working order. Need a working ROM for a Sprint HTC One. Please assist!
