I've tested sending emails to my 8X and I don't appear to have and LED notification, is there a setting to enable it?

No it doesn't appear there is. Mine only seems to come on for charging.
Thanks for the reply, I expect that this feature will be added at some point with a software update. :good:

There seems to be no LED indication light for notifications. Is it possible to turn in on?
Thanks
I'm pretty sure this phone does not come with an LED on the front.

I do enjoy it. The only time I miss it is when it's in my pocket. I used to see the blinking LED on my old phone.

There *is* actually an LED on the Moto X. Page 2 of your owners manual. Although it only comes on when your battery is so low the screen can't power it up and you plug it in to charge. No one has seemed to be able to get it to work besides that.

I use Voxer (if you don't know what it is, it's a "walkie-talkie" type messaging app, it's in the Play Store) and upgraded to Pro, which gives you "Extreme" notifications. When I get a message, the camera LED flashes. Kind of nice.
Is it just my nexus (AT&T version ) or does anybody else experience this... When using the phone and a new notification comes in, it appears at the top of the screen however it cannot be clicked to enter the notifications. Its more annoying when your using the phone and an incoming call comes and the incoming notification at the top says 'dismiss' or 'answer' yet I cannot click either of them! Have to swipe the notification away the enter the phone app to answer the darn call and by that time I've missed the call !!
Anyone have any input on this ???
I can click and enter the app when a notification pops up top. Answering phone as well. Are you running any custom software?
i have the same problem, just noticed it yesterday. super annoying

I was thinking this is how it is I don't know if this is a problem or not to be honest.
occasionally, when i try to click on the notification, it just bounces... not sure why it's not recognizing that i'm pressing on the notification, but it's not a major issue.
only happens from the lock screen though, and only once in a while.

I had the same problem. I did the following, and this fixed it for me:
- Re-enabled default messaging app (I had disabled it because I don't use SMS)
- Force close Hangouts and clear data
- Reboot phone.
Hope this helps.
I had the same issue today when a call arrived. I had ti switch off the display and then on again and it worked. But it's very annoying

i have the same issue every once in a while.
i also have an issue to were sometimes it wont let me click things.
ex: i tried to enable something in accessability and the box that pops up that basically reads you your rights comes up and it will let me click cancel but not ok.
the only solution i have is full wipe and im not going there.
I noticed this too. I am using the tap to wake mod and I wonder if this has something to do with it.

There used to be an option to turn off the notification LED on blocking mode so that it didn't light up your room while sleeping. It appears that is no longer an option. Does anyone know of a solution to be able to disable the LED for specific hours each day? I tried Lightflow, but had some issues with it and there was not an option to set specific hours. Thanks in advance!
I don't think the LED is that bright to "light up your room".....
If it bugs you that much, turn it face down, or put something over the LED to cover just that one part of the phone.

LOL! Easy fix. Cut her eyes out. Then ask her which did she like more, the ability to see or not? I'm sure she will say sight, but then you give her the bad news that you can't fix her blindness due to you not being a doctor (unless you are, then operate).
To fix your problem though, try Settings > Accessibility > Notification Reminder > LED Indicator
Hope that works.
Have you tried "do not disturb" in your toggle buttons? Says it'll silence calls & notifications, not sure if it will disable led. Ultra power saving mode might also disable led.

I have tried do not disturb and it does not turn off the LED for me. I have not tried ultra power saving mode. I am, however, hoping for something more automated based on time. Thanks for the response.

Wow...that escalated quickly :-0
Thank you for the recommendation, but I actually want the LED on during the day and just off at night. It was a setting on my previous Samsung devices...just appears to be another thing removed, for some reason

Guess the Do Not Disturb option is your only bet. Hopefully it works.
try sleep for android...it has a feature of Do not disturb whenever you have sleep tracking on. So when you sleep just set that as an alarm and it will put the phone to do not disturb
I know you said you had problems with lightflow app but have you tried the light manager app? Works really well for me since they did the fix for 5.1.1.

Hi, I need a screen with a very bright screen. I am considering buying a nokia 8 but the only thing holding me back is the lack of led notification. Does it bother you or not? Appreciate anyones thoughts.
I don't miss it at all, and now I like the fact that it's not always blinking for something.
The glance screen will tell you if you missed phone calls or SMS, although you do have to move the phone for it to come on.
I thought that I would miss the notification LED, but am getting on fine without it.

thanks, so just moving the phone turns on glance screen? Seems like a good alternative.
Yes moving the phone will turn on the glance screen.
I attach two pictures, one of glance screen in operation and the second of the possible settings for the glance screen. The time-out for the glance screen can be set up to 20 minutes.
I should point out that while the screen on the Nokia 8 will not disappoint for clarity and brightness, that the glance screen is dim (to save battery) and you cannot make it brighter.
Hope that helps
I'm the opposite end of the stick. I think glance is [email protected] and do miss the notification led.

Backlight notification. In other words, use the capacitive buttons as notification leds.

Not really... It only shows counters for missed calls, mails and texts. Missed messages from other apps (like messengers) are not shown. Besides that, the counter font is very tiny. I turned off glance screen after a few days because I found it totally useless...
So, yes: I actually miss a notification LED.

No, you need a custom kernel to be able to do it.
Edit: The apps I was trying (that used the camera flash for notificaitons) didn't work, so I've deleted the links.
Screen doesn't light up when notification comes through. Apps don't indicate there is a new email or notification unless I open the app. Things aren't sending notifications through on the regular unless prompted by me.
Anyone have any advice

I am having a similar problem. However, Power saving mode is turned off for me. Still, I am not receiving any notification alerts.
