I've installed CM10 by kallt_kaffe and I've been quite happy with this rom for some time. But after a couple of days of using this rom, I noticed G-sensor doesn't work properly in games. For example, when I use it as a wheel drive in race games, the cars always turn left a little, so to straighten direction I have to compensate by turning tablet in opposite direction. I tried to calibrate G-sensor. But I didn't find this function in settings. Then I searched CM forums and found out that I'm not alone with this problem. A similar problem occured not only with Galaxy tab 8.9, but also with other devices which use CM10. There were suggestions to calibrate tablet's sensor using apps like Sensor tester, GPS status, but nothing helped. Unfortunately, I haven't found the solution which solves this problem.
I don't have rights to ask this question in developer's thread, so I desided to open separate thread.

This is a great question as I ran into the same exact problem. My issue started after I downloaded the "de Blob" game which allows you to "calibrate" the sensor based on the orientation of how you want to hold the phone during accelerometer based play. After doing so my auto rotate would turn at awkward times and I found that other games didn't respond appropriately. I tried going back and "re-calibrating" by laying the phone flat but that didn't work. What ended up working for me (as I could not find for the LIFE of me where the "calibrate" feature was in the settings) the "Bubble" app which is basically a level app that tells you if a surface is level. Once I calibrated in the Bubble app, I no longer had the issue. Needles to say I no longer use the accelerometer to play "de Blob" and have emailed him to let him know of the issue. (I haven't gotten a response) Hope this helps. I will be looking forward to other ideas on how to re-calbrate the sensor in case this happens again. I'm sure there is a easier way.
yea i tried the bubble app out and now my gsensor is not working at all no matter what direction i put it in the gsensor does not respond
Really? Sorry man. Worked for me. You may need to start from scratch by wiping your phone and reflashing your ROM
The same problem
Hi are you have some solution. My G-sensor didn't respond too.

They recommend you to mahe "8" signs with your phone in hand (twist it in all direction) because the sensor recalibrates that way. This is othe official advice.
Calibrating with the bubble app should work too. If not - alt+w
I have got the G-Sensor.
From Recovery
backup
Alt+W - delete all
and update to CM last stable
No joke, try shaking your g1 around kind of hard, it might be stuck. Reset it again after that and see what happens, worth a shot.
may sound daft, but have you tried this solution?

it is a quick fix for auto rotate issues, not a permanent solution, but it may help as auto rotate is accellerometer based, as are all the apps you're trying to use
if it works, thanks go to MikeTaylor00, not me, i'm merely a messenger

hey senaia, is this a proven method? Thanks =)
I'm increasingly convinced that the compass may be at least partly to blame for poor gps tracking. I'd like to experiment with disabling and/or tweaking the compass but don’t know where to start fiddling with compass settings.
Suggestions?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
There has been some work on what causes the gps problems with captivate, notably by developers CLShortFuse and Da_G. Some of the discussions are quite technical. I don't recall the compass being implicated, however. If you are interested in pursuing gps info, search out threads by the above two developers. For starters, try this one.
I know this is an old thread, but I think there is something to it...
@creepyncrawly: I came to the same conclusion last night. The Captivate gets brilliant SNo while sitting on my desk. If I turn it while still on the desk, I lose all satellite locks. I think that is what introduces the error.
Open up GPS Test and watch the compass output. It's all over the place, while for me at least, the lat/long stay pretty steady. For example, completely still it wobbles, a lot. When I rotate the phone, the bearing wildly fluctuates. Turning it 180 degrees doesn't give a 180 degree shift in bearing either.
I think the phone is being mislead into thinking its moving by either the accelerometers or the compass. I think my next test will be a good strong magnet in close proximity while the phone is stationary.
I tried killing the compass daemon, but it comes back. I've tried removing it from the init script, but it must be a protected file. Next trick will be to just delete the binary I think.
My second idea is decreasing the port speed of the GPS module, not sure that would do anything constructive though.
Hi to everyone,
First of all, i have to apologyze for my english, and just in case if there is another thread about this, but i haven't been able to fnd a solution or anyone with a similar problem.
I have a problem with the g-sensor of my OB, but i think it's a sw issue, as i can calibrate it with apps like gps settings (or something like that) putting the phone on a flat surface, and then i can see that it behaves normally IN THE APP. But then i go to the gallery and it automatically rotates to landscape mode, no matter how i put the phone. It detects that it is always sideways.
So i would like to know it f there is a way of calibrating the system accelerometer (not using 3rd party apps, which works for the app) and fix this problem.
Note: I have tried stock rom 2.2, 2.3 and cyanogenmod and the result is the same, so i have to disable screen rotation at least for reading properly the menus.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
I'm absolutely delighted with the smoothness and functionality of CM10 as of now. Obviously I've been experiencing the usual problems of immense battery drain and call quality, but I'm sure those will be fixed in the short run.
However, another problem I think that is overshadowed by all the other problems is the HDMI. This is probably because barely any people actually utilise it on a regular basis, but some people do.
The phone connects to the TV and projects the image fine. However, it is ALWAYS shown rotated 90 degrees so that the projected image on the TV is always horizontal. This is quite frustrating when I'm trying to watch downloaded TV shows. I've tried disabling the rotation in settings completely; however, no matter what I do the moment i connect the HDMI and then turn my phone on, the image is always portrait and rotated.
Maybe time will fix this. However, I wanted to post this because I was afraid that this problem would be easily overlooked and never fixed.
Thanks!
It was said multiple times. Do not mind, that if yopu create thread for thios bug it will be fixed.
Cheers
Thread Closed, please use the CM10 thread to ask and search for bugs.

I've only now discovered that the issues I've been having with certain apps are because the One has no magnetic compass sensor, only a digital compass. Is there any way to enhance the compass accuracy or otherwise calibrate it?
I ask, because when playing Ingress, my orientation is never even close to correct. I have to manually adjust the screen (while driving, ACK!??!) if I want to follow along with the route I'm driving, and of course the arrow is never pointed in the right direction which can make deploying resonators a little more confusing.
I'm also starting to get into geocaching, and without a working compass app, I have to carry another phone or an actual compass along with me. So spur of the moment geocaching can only happen if I happen to have one at the time.
And of course I'm sure everyone's heard about Sky Maps not working properly either, which is just a bummer.
Bumperoonie, Surely someone out there has similar problems or the knowledge to tackle this... anybody?
