Root is as simple as running program and pressing the buttons it tells you. The battery mod is really easy also, just takes a little time. Video is out for that though.
There's full instructions and reviews on both and a video on the battery mod.

Please, do not bump in the same day you post you thread..
As for the app, the framework is insanely different. You would need a dev to port it over (if it's even possible), which could take quite a while too.
Lol i knew the bump would get me into trouble. Sorry but my patience was draining. I tried replacing the res folders just to see if it would install and of course,it didnt. Any dev wanna take a shot at it? The blur facebook is pretty sweet

Hi there
Us there a screenshot app that will work with my device? Its not unlocked or rooted (its just a stock device)
Cheers!
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Your device must be rooted to make screenshot on the device itself.
The only way to make screenshots without root is the Android-SDK.
Here is a tutorial
I don't know any other method.

Root procedure is done in a few minutes. Then install 'ShootMe' (available in Market) and you can take screenshots when you shake your phone.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
What exactly is rooting and what does it do? Is it the same as unlocking the device? How do I do it?
What are the upsides and downsides to rooting?
Thanks!
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk
If you root your device, you have access to the root partition of your phone. You can change whatever you want.
I don't know any downside
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA Premium App
Yup, this is exactly why I rooted my Nexus. No more ads and ShootMe is great!!!
Can't find ShootMe in the market.. has it been removed ?
Download "No Root Screenshot It" from the Market. Its $4.99 but its the only way that you can take screenshots without root.

that never worked for me. it's a total waste of money imo. just use the sdk. it's super easy if you don't want to root

Here is the ShootMe app. Just tested on My Evo & it works great.

Found a better app in market called Screencast. You can record video to. Link below.

I was talking about no root screenshot it lol. I found it much easier to just use the sdk for screenshots, plus both of those require root so they don't really help the op
I think for the best quality use ddms. If you have SDK installed plug your phone in, open command prompt and type
ddms
Then device> screen capture

This worked way better than trying to root my phone.
I had some issues earlier in the day trying to figure out why my DDMS wouldn't work and since I've been using Eclipse, this tutorial worked WAY better and faster. I didn't have anything to install, just didn't know how to get to it within Eclipse. Now I do.
Now if only I knew how to "thank" this post..... (Yeah, I'm a Noob.)
I actually made a youtube video about this last week for Mac users.
Feel free to check it out right here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xukmq35oIbk
Make sure you watch it in HD for better quality.
The youtube video converter is a mess!
I just found a really great simple way to remove 90% scrolling lag on JB 4.x.x ROM's. All you have to do is:
- Open Google Currents
- Go to Settings
- Disable background sync
- Et voila, pretty much complete lag free scrolling!
I noticed a HUGE difference and made my device nice and snappy again...
Hope that helps. If it does, hit the thanks button

Another thing that removes lag and makes everything run smoother:

Fill it, release it, reboot it, omg!
If you read the first review for the app it will explain how and why it works.

I want this too
I have a Kindle Fire 2 and I would also love to do this if anyone knows how!
Anyone want to try honeybar? Unfortunately, I have the inbred cousin to you all with the KF2, so I can't really do much and my statusbar is broken altogether. It doesn't work on my KF2, but a lot doesn't, and I was going to use that one app once it was ROMd but maybe you can try it out and let me know how it goes? It's the best solution I have anyways....better than nothing right?
Yeah, Id really love to have this for my 8.9.
i got to change softkey apk and themed it, see if it work for 8.9 or 2, because in the 7" hd work

Easy (I dit it) in draw able-nodpi folder, edit softkeybarexpanded_bg_land.9 and softkeybarexpanded_bg.9 that'll let you change colors or (if you edit them to have no color) be transparent.

Guys, can anyone point me to a link where I can access the stock file manager APK for the Atrix HD?
I see that there was some pushy requests for this in the Atrix HD Root thread. I am NOT that guy. I would however like to give this a shot on an XT926 . Side loading the filemanager apk would be a good place to start, but I don't believe it will work anyway.

Well, got nowhere with that one. Tried to change the prereq's and side load into my Razr HD. After botching my stock FM, I was able to get it to take it. It would start, but after attempting any of the choices it would crash. Haven't made any progress, time to move on.
I really appreciate your help with the file.
