Install an older version of CWM through Rom Manager app. Should be 5.2.xx. This one should work just fine.

Just go and search for cwm touch flasher optimus black and look for an entry made by redy06. He created a flasher for the 5 version. You can also have a look into dev section. Dont know, if you maybe are able to install a cwm created by tantrums.

Sorry about making a new post under this forum, but i didnt have permission to reply in the dev forum.
To ask Questions about developing your device, installing ROMs, software and themes you must go to the Q&A or General Forum.
noticed the LG screwed up - bad - here's why your UI is jerky! link, and decided to give it a try.
Code:
cat /system/build.prop | grep build
shows:
ro.build.lge.version.release=LGP990-V10b
ro.build.date=2011. 03. 15. (í) 14:14:22 KST
ro.build.date.utc=1300166062
So i go for the V10b (date 1300166062) linked on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1023354
did a nanodroid backup and tried to install the rom(zipfile) with clockworkmod from my SDcard.
Select the "Wipe Dalvik Cache" but leave the others unchecked.
Phone reboots and enter CLockwork recovery and attempts to install but it fails at the beginning of the installation and reboots the phone before I get time to read the error message.
What am I doing wrong?
I didnt wipe cache over V10B and it worked smooth. But i am on V10C now which is much better!

upgrading to v10c, does that require any wipe, or can you just write it over your current version. Also, do you have a link to the package?
edit> found it here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1035041
I upgraded via Lg updater. I cant give you links and yes just apply over it.

Sounds like you use ROM Manager to boot into recovery?
Try booting to recovery manually by holding Power+Vol- while booting (until you see the yellowish A N D R O I D letters) and go from there.
If I remember right CWM Recovery and ROM Manager swap the internal and external SD card around or fails to mount the latter when booting directly to recovery from ROM Manager.
i have cwm 6.x and i wish to install cwm 5.x, how to do this? i have flix123 v20s rom
Use the ROM Manager app for that, quick and easy!
can you explain me with more details?
This is what you need to do:
1. Download ROM Manager from the Playstore. It'll ask you for root permissions the first time you open it, make sure you grant them (I believe Flix's ROM is rooted, if not use SuperOneClick to root your 2X and then come back here again).
2. At the bottom of the ROM Manager app, you'll see an option named something like "Older recoveries" (I don't remember what it's called as I don't have it installed on my device right now). Select it.
3. You'll see a list of older CMW versions, pick the one you want to install. ROM Manager will download it and flash it on your device and show you a message once it's done.
That's it!
older recoveries are not listed in the latest rom manager menu... (at least i don't see them after updating rom manager)

Ah, you're right. I don't get it, why would the developer remove this feature from the app?
Anyways, there's another option so don't worry:
1. Check Rusty!'s CWM thread, download the zip file and extract it.
2. Connect your device to your PC via USB and run the .bat file to flash CWM 5.0.2.8 (I'm assuming you're using Windows). There are two CWM versions: one to have it store your backups on the external SD card (install-ext-cwm-windows.bat), and the other would use the internal SD card instead (install-int-cwm-windows.bat). If you're not sure which one you want, just flash the external version.
thanks a lot

If I remember correctly, that was displayed as another option on the main screen so it was easy to spot. Wonder why it was moved to such a "hidden" place. Oh well, I wasn't so wrong after all ^^ Nice catch, 60nine!

he changed the update script. the official cm flashable zip checks for the codename "p880". since its not the correct codename for our phone ("x3" is correct) and all our recoveries use that codename "x3" its not flashable. what he did is changing "p880" to "x3" in the update script (in the first line) or he completely removed that check
Wasn't easier to just use the official CWM from the CM team? Unless you use twrp ofcourse

2. BACKUP ALL YOUR DATA with CWM Recovery
3. In CWM Recovery make wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition, wipe dalvik cache, format system

Restore the backup you made in step 2, install newest official CWM via ROM Manager (download it from play store if you don't already have it) then boot back into CWM and install CM again.
---------- Post added at 08:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:37 PM ----------
Also I honestly don't see any real benefit to this thread when installing official CWM solves the status 7 issue and allows for OTA updating of CM instead of having to wait for the OP of this thread to upload a fix every single day...
argh

I was afraid you were gonna say that! You can still boot into CWM though right? If you can, and your computer has an SD slot, just take out your external SD card and put it into an adapter and put the fixed version from this thread on that, then you can just install it from the external SD in CWM.

from CWM you can install via sideload ...
or harder way- reflash stock, root it, download rom manager, install newest cwm via it, copy files, flash in recovery
won't work

You can do several things:
If your adb is working, i think you can push latest cwm to recovery partition. Find dexters topic on how to do it, but instead of 6.0.2.8, download latest from cwm website and push it.
Alternatively, download zaiben rom, put it on sdcard ext and flash it, then use rom manager etc.
Another thing you can do is search for topic "fixed cm flashable", and flash that cm, then update to latest.
There is one more way, you can edit cm's zip and delete lines checking for device id.
Good luck

Hi guys, I have got a very urgent problem right now, and hope someone can help me out...I am currently using a HTC One M7, and I used the TWRP recovery and the official bootloader or something rooted my phone, the reason why I need root it is that i need a app move into the system apps which may be easier in using it. And after I moved the app into the system apps using Root Explorer and then reboot my phone, the app just disappeared. After tried many times...I think it is because of the twrp just wipe it... do u guys have a method to solve this problem?...really...pls help me out!!

This is not a twrp issue, /system partition is write-protected by the stock kernel, every changes made in the /system partition will be reverted after a reboot. If you want to be able to write to /system when booted in the rom, you'll need a custom kernel with write-protection disabled (pretty much all custom kernels here have this). The other option is to make the changes you want in your /system partition before the stock kernel boots, so using the embedded file manager of twrp recovery for example.
If you want to use a custom kernel, you must choose one that works with your rom type and version. For example, ElementalX kernel will only works for Sense or GPE rom (stock or custom). The version of ElementalX required depends on your android version so newer doesn't mean better, you need the right one. Flashing a custom recovery is done using twrp recovery. When installing the custom kernel, you can choose the features you want to be installed so if you don't want a specific feature that the kernel offers, its not a problem. The write-protection is removed by default.
If using the twrp file manger, boot in twrp select "advanced" ---> "file manager"
Then to move a file, select it (tap on it) then it will open another menu. Select "move" then select the location you want to move it to. There is also a chmod menu to edit the files permissions.

Oh, thanks for answering me~ uh, can u be more specific about how to do that? about the kernel thing? I never did this before and actually this is just my second time to root a phone and try to move an app into system app (as last time i did so there is no such a problem...) Also, about the twrp recovery file manager, tried that one yesterday, and it did not show the " app" folder under the system one, which means i just cannot move it using the twrp file manager...

Yep sorry, should have mentioned that, you always have to mount the partition you want to access when using a recovery. Some are mounted by default, but /system isn't.
