Hey peeps,
I would like to know if the lockscreen can be themed.
It's lookin really nasty on a higher display resolution.
I want to try it myself but should I even start? Because I can't install it through cmw recovery. This official Rom doesn't allow cmw. And does anyone know which file I should change. Never done anything with theming before. I already got the images from the framework file.
Added a screenshot to make my story/question more clear.

You can still install it by pushing it via adb, or copying the file using a root file explorer. But be careful, cause if you brick your device, you ll have to completely reinstall the ROM, or at least, reflash, reroot and reinstall the rest with Titanium

ever wanted to flash back to froyo but didnt want to use the almighty odin? well here is a simple solution that should let u install froyo on a gb build without any errors
1.open the 2.2 rom you want to flash on the file explorer on your computer then click into the META-INF folder then com, google, android, and u will see the file updater script, delete that file (if u have problems getting that to delete use a program like winrar)
2.put the updater script u downloaded in replace of the old one (if winrar or any other program made u unzip the file and didnt zip it back up automaticlly make sure its done then place the file back to your phone and flash away
dont forget about the thanks button

This is helpful, but you have to know why first. The difference is the difference in the install scripts. In CWM versions before CWM3, we used amend scripting. Amend scripting is no longer supported in CWM3 and above, it now uses edify scripting.
Kernels that contain recovery prior to CWM3, you can flash the old scripts just fine. For example, cmenards latest JVQ based kernel supports both amend and edify scripting, and is based off CWM 2.5.x.x.
Its all in knowing what you are running, and what's compatible.
I wont get too preachy on this, but Odin is your friend, nothing to be scared or wary of, and with regular use to actually set you back to stock, will create a much better running environment for your Vibrant experience. Shortcuts around it will eventually cause all kinds of issues.

Wondering
Has this worked for anyone?
The OP missed some key points in this "guide".
If your zip file is using is using the old amend scripting, then there will be one file called update-script (not updater).
The newer scripts, edify scripting, uses two files, update-binary and updater-script, and you need both files if your kernel or recovery method is cwm3 or later, edify scripting only.
Or you could save a dev a future headache, and just use Odin.

You're talking about his last deadhorse kernel. That one, if memory serves me, even has a pre-kernel flash that you did through sgs kernel flasher, then the rom and full kernel. Coming from that one friend, I do believe Odin is your only option.

well....u cannot use the LGHome as a standalone. it has dependencies.
as of the camera problem, it is strange!!!...btw, hope u placed it in /system/app and changed the permission 2 644, then rebooted. also, u should have both the .apk and the .odex file replaced with 644 permission. it SHOULD have worked.

This works if you *do not* uninstall the old camera first. If you remove it via Titanium Backup (like he most likely did), it won't work. Putting the file back in place won't help at all, and you need to reflash the rom to get the camera back. Simply replacing the file is a different matter, and this would in fact work.
No to reinstall the camara to just copy it back to sys/app folder mount and install using root explorer.
As for the lghome if you could just post it anyway id appreciate it.

If u messed up with the system then there is no way to make it up unless u have a backup...
If u dont have a backup then sadly u have to reflash the rom
EDIT:make sure to see that the settings.apk is not frozen..
Sent with the help of my phalanges!!!!
Only take original Settings.apk from GDX zip and put it in system/app. This should work.
When you replace system apps please reboot before you post here because the app doesn't install automagically after you push it into /system/apps.

Don't be afraid of rooting your phone. O2x is very hard to brick, no kidding!!!
Rooting your phone will give you access to system files and folders...so you can bake your phone by adding custom rom and kernel, theme and more.
Here's the method with SuperOneClick:
1. First, download this zip. http://www.multiupload.nl/VGCN3ZTFM8
2. It contains all stuff to root your phone securely
3. Extract the zip in a folder on your desktop.
4. Be sure that you have the latest LG driver. To download it, go on LG's website via Mobile Support.
5. After download, install it but be sure your phone is unplug.
6. When that's done, plug in your phone to your computer and put it in USB Debugging via Setting Options.
7. Then, simply Open SuperOneClick.exe
8. On the right side of the screen, choose Auto Exploit.
9. When that's done, press Root and that's it.
10. Easy enough Enjoy!!!
Hope that help.
P.S: Rooting your phone will also void your warranty BUT you can unroot it after. :good:
Thanks . I hope this will work

I tried the upd_1.zip on ddkq8 & it had worked. But when I flashed int2ext+ on BE kernel, device didn't boot & after a factory reset via cwm, it did. But this time, all the apps that need root access like the cwm, sd maid, etc., failed to open up & stuck on black screen with the app name label at the top. What could be the reason ?

Let's clear something up !
First of all, ALL ROMS can be rooted !
I have alot of experience in that, and after 3 years of testings first and only problem when u try to root a rom is SYSTEM free SPACE !
So, before complain that a rom cannot be rooted, just see how much free space u got (u can do that without root, using last 3.0 root explorer).
After u do that, make a flashable zip only with meta scripts that remove Maps.apk or something, than try again. It's 100000% workin !
Peace all !
Hi everybody!
You could easily remove bloatware (and much more) via aroma filemanager 1.8, just mount all, install zip from sdcard, select aromafm-1.80.zip run it and enjoy. The easiest way! Good luck.

There's a bloatware removal script for galaxy y that works even for ace. It works even without root. It is just a updater script that removes many unwanted apps. Just flash via recovery. Easy as that

As aromafm-1.80.zip by Amarullz is a file manager for all android , you can: remove or add any file anywhere, change the names of all the files , etc.

Thank you! Downloading. Thanks for everything guys. I gave cooper to my girlfriend and I had Stock on Fire installed and it's giving her problems. The /system seems to have gotten corrupted somehow and a lot of apps FC and when I try making a Nandroid it stops at backing up system.
I'm about to just flash the latest stock rom, root it and add the all in one ICS/lockscreen mod and just leave it there. Do you guys recommend anything else? I just want something that I can leave it at and not worry about anymore.
