[01/21/11] These new .zip files are updated to work with all versions of CWM, the scripts are both Edify and Amend friendly. Enjoy!
Previews:
Startup
Shutdown
Shutdown 2
Shutdown 3
There are 6 files attached here, all flashable through ClockworkMod. The titles of the files should be self-explanatory. You'll notice that one of the .zip's will flash you back to the stock Epic boot and shutdown sounds.
I've confirmed that they work with DI18 stock (rooted), DK28 stock (rooted), and Bonsai 1.1.4, so I don't see why they wouldn't work on any ROM.
Your phone must be rooted and have ClockworkMod Recovery (any version).
*I suppose I must do the obligatory I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU JACK YOUR PHONE UP*
Instructions:
- download flashable .zip and flash through clockwork.
That's it, reboot and enjoy!

No, the sound effect is a portion of (what I believe to be) the Droid Incredible boot sound; I created the "epic" and associated sound processing.
Sent from my Emotionlessly Bonsai'd Epic 4g.
Pretty sweet! It does kind of remind me of the first time I saw Optimus Prime transform in the live action move. The "Epic" part is a nice touch.
Need help getting this to work. I have done every step to the T, and still no avail. I have custom boot animations as well as custom boot sounds but, for some reason this one file just says unsupported file type after clicking on it in /system/etc folder. It plays while on the sdcard itself. So if you know a work around that would be great cause this boot sounds is awesome.

This is probably a dumb question, but did you unzip the .wav first? Assuming that you did, you should have a file on your sd card with the name "PowerOn.wav"; if you copy that file into /system/etc you should have no problem. Verify that you have a file in that folder with that exact name, not just the "PowerOn.bak" that you may have created in backup up your original boot sound.
What file manager are you using? I've done this using both Astro and Root Explorer and am able to select the file in /system/etc and it plays on the built in music player.
Added the option to flash through clockwork, updated OP with options.
very nice I will install this
reminds me of transformers or THX
Just flashed the CWM zip and dangit still nothing. I must have changed something in that folder. Im going to reinstall my rom and see if that fixes my prob. I really want this boot sound.

His ROM is exactly why I created this in the first place! Didn't care much for the one he included, but I love his ROM and the boot animation!

You read my mind! I've been learning about how to make one today. The only catch is, it will only work on a ROM with a custom kernel, or a kernel that has been modified and re-compiled. Currently the only Froyo ROM that I know of that this might be an option with is Mammon's Bonsai ROM (which is what I run).
I'll keep fiddling and see what I can come up with.

This is the AOSP lockscreen for the newest KA7 leak that Krylon360 & Chainfire found. I think Whitehawkx was going to do this, but I got a little board.. so I did it.
This has only been tested on the deodexed version, if you are on the odexed version, be aware this may not work.
I still need to fix the menu to unlock bug (It is really easy to fix, I will do it early tomorrow)
Anyways... You guys are going to want the download link, but first.. Please read the disclaimer..

I flashed this under the assumption that Trigger v1.1 was a deodexed rom... I still think it is, but if it isn't someone please correct me. It went into a boot loop right after installing it, so I let it continue to loop for a while then pulled the battery and tried again. It booted all the way up this time, but now it won't go into the market. I tried a fix_permissions in ROM Manager, but it only fixed the permissions for ROM Manager itself... Any ideas? I got this thing just the way I liked it and forgot to do a backup...
EDIT: I saw that Trigger has a new version v1.2 that includes the lockscreens and couple other new things. I'm just going to flash that and re-customize. Thank you anyway for the potential help.
Try clearing market data and see if it lets you.

**DOES NOT WORK ON 10.1 BASED ROMS**
Alright guys here it is, a flash-able zip that you can flash in recovery to get wifi and vibration working on i717 ROMS
while in recovery before you flash the WiFi.zip file make sure you MOUNT system and then install. Once the WiFi.zip is flashed UNMOUNT system and reboot. Flash Wifi fix.zip last after you have already flashed the rom, gapps, radio ect... This fix should work for all Jelly Bean roms
### For this step i would use the computer. After downloading the ROM your going to flash, use 7zip file manager, right click on the downloaded rom zip move down to 7zip and open archive. delete boot.img and replace with the boot.img that is attached below. Close 7zip and move ROM to your sd card.
Also make sure you flash TeamWin Recovery for the sgh-i717 If you try flashing with TeamWin for our device it does not allow it because of the device name in build prop...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
steps that i have taken:
Flash openrecovery-twrp-2.3.1.1 sgh-i717 then reboot to recovery before starting on the steps below.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1.wipe factory data reset
2.wipe system
3.flash darkside superwipe EXT4. (Thanks to TDJ for this wipe script)
4.flash i717 jelly bean rom of choice
5.flash GAPPS
6.flash T-Mobile radio (found over in the goodies thread)
7.flash Wifi fix.zip (DONT FORGET TO MOUNT SYSTEM BEFORE FLASHING THIS) other wise it will not work.
8.wipe cache and dalvik cache
9.Reboot- wifi and vibration should be fixed --
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks for your work, looking forwards to trying the att roms.

No problem, if you guys have any issues pm me. Hopefully the instructions are clear enough to understand lol!
Also I can confirm this works for the following ROMs, "pacman all in one (I'm using that one currently) Aocp, and paranoid. So anything jelly bean should work.
I was trying to make a flash-able boot.img to make things easier but for some reason it would not work. The ROM will only boot when boot.IMG is manually inserted. Not sure why that is.

I can confirm it works, latest PA and it's probably a placebo effect but things are much smoother and the hspa+ speed seems more solid and stable now. I'll give some other roms a try, if they ever want to download.

Should be interesting when the 717 gets the 4.2 bump for samsung, and we get left behind by tmoible. I think butter is still incomplete in 4.1.2 right?
I'm having trouble getting any of the att roms to boot, mind sharing some of your modified roms?

Also I think this is across the board but do you guys have image/video quality issues? Like if i watch a video in youtube i get a lot of off colors(blacks not actually black, blues look a little greyish, ect.) Even my wallpaper, 99% of images look terrible.
I've tried PAC man and now I'm on AOCP both image quality was fine.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
Hmm i'll have to look in to the image quality thing, alot of things just look terrible.
How about slimbean? Anyne have any luck with that? I just keep getting a failed error.
I haven't noticed bad image quality either, Everything looks fine here. I really like aocp, but I like how paranoid supports spen, although GMD spen control in the play store takes care of that!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk 2
Will this work on any TW roms? Or is there an alternate fix for those?

For tw ROMs the only thing you should have to do is pull the boot.img and replace with one from a T-Mobile tw ROM.

I want to make sure I understand this correctly. If I want to flash a TW Rom I need to get the boot.img from an exsiting TW Rom or do I use the one provided in the OP? Also would it matter if the boot.img comes from an older version TW Rom?
This here is what I am running on my tablet, thought I would go ahead and share in case it is what anyone else is looking for
A simply themed rom for 8013
based on md3
This is debloated to my liking, added in the quick boot app to easily boot into recovery, seemed easier than any mods for the 4 way reboot.
There is a zip below, non flashable, just take out what you want to add and toss it where it goes before you flash, or toss what you want added into a flashable zip and flash later.
**stuff**
rooted
busybox
init.d support
no boot sounds
no camera sounds
debloated to my liking
lightly themed
1% battery icon
a few build.prop things
Screenshot
the notification area with the toggles is all white and black as well, but I can't get a screeny of that for whatever reason
Downloads
rom: here
removed stuff here
md5 is at the download site
thanks to the kitchen
install like anything else, make a backup first, nothing is my fault, do whatever you want at your own risk
I originally tried doing this with the chinese version released more recently but it was all off, like wifi didn't want to work and stuff, so whatever
reserved maybe
Thank you for your efforts. Is always nice to see some more variety for this beast of a tablet.

Hi, I have been trying to root my P7310 tab using the instructions and root files I found in several threads. My problem is that when I boot in recovery mode I don't get in the list of options the one that says 'apply update from SD card', I only get the option of updating from external storage or cache.
Anyone could help me with this?
Thank you,

Use the guide from here by nirogu325 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1406137
It has all that you need. And when in recovery, it's not necessarily 'apply update from SD card'. Just choose the zip file that you have to flash to gain root. I suggest that you use TWRP recovery on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2602188
Thanks for your help, I will try the instructions although they look a bit complicated for a near novice like me. My problem with the zip file is that when I am in recovery mode I cannot select any path leading to the SD Card root folder where the zip has been uploaded. It drives me nuts, it seems to work for everyone else but me!

The original gingerbread recovery had an option to flash zips. The ICS recovery did not. Rooting was way easier on GB because of this. The only way to root ICS is to install a custom recovery to flash a root.zip file.

Ok, I think I need some help. I cannot flash zip drives from the standard ICS recovery as I do not get the option of accessing the SD card (see photo attached) so I can't either root or flash CWMR zip. As suggested I have tried Odin but there are no instructions on how to flash a CWMR zip in the tread, only how to flash ROMs. I have tried to search with the PDA or BOOTLOADER buttons but I cannot load a zip file in Odin. I am really not sure what to do now?
can you help?

Well yeah I didn't mention that you should do a full wipe first because I thought you already knew that
anyway, hopefully messing up with your tab won't be necessary, cuz stock ICS is the best, personally I use this tweaked one:
