Trying to sell my d3. Did a factory reset but safe strap is still there. Cannot access phone interface cuz I don't have a number to activate it on. Please help me remove safe strap, don't want buyer to trip.
I would say that Vanilla Ice - Ice Ice Baby is one of the safest raps. No bad language and child friendly.
Hehe jokes aside, I'd say:
1 Restore any backups from safestrap
2 Boot into unsafe system
3 Uninstall safestrap
4 Remove root
5 Factory reset.
Edir: btw, this should be in general.

I have no backups left on the phone to boot into.
There must be another way to just uninstall this application

If it is on stock, when it says touch android to begin, tap the four corners clockwise. Start at the upper left, right, bottom right, left. It might take several times before it works. Root if needed with motofail, install safestrap app, install recovery, remove recovery, factory reset. Or, you can check for an sbf one click to redo the entire phone to factory.

I just watched the 3 part You Tube Video on Flashing Cognition ROM to Captivate,I need to ask 3 things. First the video shows the One Click Root method though computer. I already have my root rooted with z4root app is this OK. After the new ROM is on the guy went to Market and got Ti Backup and he side loaded it can't you just load Std. way though Market?( I have the Paid Ver. of Ti Backup) Third question on the video he stated to use "restore All Apps with Data" but written on the Screen says to use "Restore Missing apps with data",which is it? I hope this my last question but I really want to sure of what I am doing before I try this.
Thanks for help
Would have been better suited in the General forum, but..
Rooting with z4mod = fine.
Getting TiBu from market = ...fine.
Restore all apps with data = literally restores all of your backups and data
Restore missing apps with data = restores apps that are not installed on the phone, ignoring ones that are installed on the phone.
Best to ask in Q&A section, but I'll still help you out.
1. Yes, that's fine. The way you root it doesn't matter, as long as it's rooted.
2. Not sure why he'd go to the Market to get it then sideload, but yes, you can get it straight from the Market, but make sure you know how to keep your donate version after a flash, as flashes (usually) wipe /data.
3. Restore Missing Apps with Data.
Thanks guys I really wasn't sure where to Post this. Yes I have Backup of Ti Backup folder on my computer.
Thanks again
If I can make a suggestion. Make sure you know what odin is and that you know how to get into download mode prior to flashing.

Yes. I have odin on computer and I have checked to make sure I can get into 'Download Mode". I have also load ROM Manger and made Image file of my Stock 2.1.1 ROM and have saved on Computer along with Pictures,Ringtones and have Contacts saved to Sim card.
Sounds like you're good to go then! Definitely made a lot more precautions and backed up a lot more than I did the first time, and that's definitely a good thing!

I would like to flash Gingervolt to my revo. Every thread I look at says that the first step in doing so is to use CWM to make a back up. I try to install using rom manager and it brings up a list of phones that I have to pick from. I am sure you are all aware of this and I am being a HUGE noob right now but I searched the forums and didn't see anything about this. I Would really appreciate the help as to how i go about getting cwm for my phone and how to back up my phone.

Don't flash gingervolt yet. Are you using froyo, or gingerbread? Then you need cwm, which is part of our oneclick program in the development section. Then you make that back up.

Ok so I put CWM on using one click or whatever. I used quick boot to go into recovery. The Rom manager logo was there and it says CWM- Based Recovery V5.0.2.7. I pressed back up and backed up my entire system and that is the last thing I have done. My question is if i were to mess something up how would I make my phone go to the previous back up. Also am I ready for gingervolt now?
You just need cement. If ur already rooted

Get rid of rom manager. You do not need it. There is no good that will come of it. To many things can go wrong lol.
Use the all in one, it has a reboot recovery option now, after installing and it reboots, select reboot recovery. If it goes into it, then you are all set.

Ok so I am about to use that. The next step is to back up all data. Once I have done that the next step is to wipe all data!!! that is the scary part. How do i get back my stuff should something go awry. Once I get over that fear I press install zip from SD card and then I am done after I reboot. And this is all done in CWM. AM I correct in stating all of this.

if you are already rooted, install Titanium Backup or Ultimate Backup or ROM Toolbox from the market they are all useful tools to back up all of your apps. Then wipe data, flash Gingervolt, then use backup program to restore your apps..

You do not have to wipe data, it is an option if you want a clean start. I would run your phone as it is for a couple Weeks and if it acts up, then consider a data wipe when other options have been used.

You have to do it through Safestrap. Just boot the phone and when you get to the safestrap menu, make sure you're in the unsafe side and do a backup. Rom Manager and Safestrap don't mix.

Thank you linuxgator! If I am on the safe side, can I create a Nandroid of the unsafe side or do I have to toggle over first?
On a slightly less related question, does the battery charge while in Safestrap?
I believe there is an option to include the main system in a backup on the safe side, however I would recommend switching back to unsafe to make a backup. Also, I think they can only be restored using safestrap. It should charge just fine pretty much any time it is plugged in even in safestrap.

Hello all,
I am trying to return my rooted D3 to stock and wipe it of all custom apps, photos, and user data. I have flashed it a few times, done a factory reset, but I still see user data and custom apps on the internal sd card.
Is there a guide out there to completely unroot and clean your phone?
Thanks in advance,

Its call sbf..
First go to settings about phone and see what android version your on either 5.7.890 or 5.7.906
Then go my thread (link is in my sig) and download the appropriate sbf..
After you sbf it will be just like you were at verizon getting your phone for the first time..
But this is for model xt862 if you have a diff model then you will have to do a search for that sbf
if phone is SIM unlocked, will i lose SIM unlock after SBF?
No.

Cool. Is there any way to tell what android version I am running without going into the settings? The phone is not activated due to all the wiping I have already tried.
If you turn it on you can press the four corners on the welcome to android setup Page. Starting from the bottom left going clockwise and it just goes to the launcher without signing you in or using data/activating.

Awesome, thanks! That worked and I was able to flash 5.7.890 using the one click.
One issue though. I still see folders for apps I had installed on the phone. They are empty but the folders are still there. Anyone to remove all trace of prior usage?
You should be able to factory reset from settingsrivacy and choose the option to format the internal storage. Or you can format internal storage from settings:storage.

Hi guys, I accidentally factory data reset my droid turbo... there's a recovery tool online but it required root on my phone, but now my phone is on 5.1, people has been saying its unable to root 5.1 at the moment, does that mean all my files are long gone?:crying:
All gone.
I'm legitimately curious, how did you reset it accidentally? There is a fair amount of tapping one has to go through to complete the action. Even in recovery you have to scroll like 5-6 times to finally complete the action. I'm sorry, that really does suck.
Unless you have it erase on too many incorrect lock screen attempts. That can happen.
Ah, I never use anything but a swipe for lockscreen security, that would be brutally annoying though obviously useful.
Once wiped the files are unrecoverable.

No. Verizon doesn't want you to be able to root your phone. If you are on stock 5.1, you cannot go backwards.
