Hey guys. I just saw the new Bond movie (totally amazing) and once again loved the software. I was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to create a theme that looks like this or some sort of cool wallpaper or really anything similar. The creator of the operating system for the film really got it right. There is a quote from him below that should help.
"Ben Radatz: We also designed all of the GUI's (graphic user interfaces) in the film, along with a custom operating system for MI6, the agency Bond works for. We extended that design out to Bond's hi-tech gadgets, including a mobile phone that snaps high-resolution photos using infrared, thermal, sonar and visible light sources to create a composite image. This was featured in a key scene in which Bond attends an opera and exposes a crime syndicate by using the composite photos to identify the players in the dark.
We worked a lot of theory into the OS, reading up on new-age mind mapping and radial thinking techniques, which basically prioritize color, shape, and visual arrangement over hierarchical lists as a way to organize and process new information. We also integrated Boolean logic and free association into the design, giving the OS a very organic, intuitive foundation. None of that was really meant to be seen, though; it was just the behind-the-scenes thinking for a deceptively simple shell, but it was simple for a reason: MI6 is a spy agency, so its agents need an intelligence system that could not only parse mountains of data in real time, but would also be dead-simple to use in the field.
Because the human brain responds to color faster than any other visual stimuli, we coded data sets with annoyingly-bright colors and arranged them into primitive 'nodes', designed to catch attention and direct the eye. This all folded into a nonlinear data web – a self-constructing pool of information that constantly morphs and adapts to new information from any number of sources: intelligence reports, government databases, the news, the web, wiretaps, fieldwork etc. This information is contextualized in real-time, and the computer then makes intelligent decisions about what pieces of data are most relevant to the task at hand, presenting them as a consolidated 'book report'. So for example, when M speaks with Bond on the phone in her office, her wall-sized transparent display tracks his movements, analyzes his voice, calls up leads he's following, and so on, all without her involvement. That data is also tailored to her rank and needs (she wouldn't need the same information as a forensic analyst) and arranged on the fly for quick consumption." (Source: artofthetitle.com)
Here is the link from the quote with more photos. If you scroll about 1/3 of the way down the page you'll be around the right spot.

If anyone actually takes this on, I will be eternally grateful. I'm sorry if I posted this in the wrong area. I just figured themes would be best.
Cheers,
Ben

Sorry about this picture. It's the best I could find.
Something Out There
I found an awesome Bond theme! It needs to be updated to the new UI, but besides that it's fantastic.
http://mycolorscreen.com/2012/11/01/skyfolly/
My theme isn't technically from the Bond movie (if you're feeling super picky), but instead based off vimeo . com/m/50861176 (apparently I'm not allowed to post links here...), a Sony commercial tied to 007.
More info and links for that specific GUI can be found at hudsandguis . com/2012/10/17/007-skyfall-ui-sony-mouse-cat-spot/ . I'm sure someone with more PS and UCCW experience than I can make a much more fluid theme!
Can't wait to see what others create!

You are welcome to design some themes for the RSSTab, unfortunately it is quite limited on layout changes (the main interface is sense based so moving things around is very difficult), but the graphics and colours should be adjustable.
I really need some decent colour themes (below is not an attempt at a theme - (yes, I know the colours do not go!), it is more to show the different items which can be changed).

Will also need a set of icons for video, audio podcasts, each showing ready to play or available to download (as well as previously played and perhaps even previously downloaded - grey versions maybe). Need them to be very easy to see the difference between etc, so either definite shapes or colours for each.
User sharkie405 started doing some themes (but that was before the text colours could be adjusted).
Anyway, it's up to you since it expect you are after more flexible things to design, full GUIs etc. As I said, unfortunately the actual layout is somewhat difficult to change so that probably spoils a lot of the design fun.
However if you can come up with the themes, I can implement them. I want to make some anyway, but it would really help if I had some themed graphics and colours to run with (rather than spending time trying to come up with my own poor excuses for graphics or "borrowing" them).

That is a very poor pickup line!
I'll put together a package with the graphical files in them when I get chance.
Here's a zip of the theme files (I'll also post it on the development thread of the tab).
Hopefully I can reimport the files back into sense afterwards, it should be able to handle transparency hopefully, also I think the sizes for the sense graphics are quite specific (div by 4 or 8, can't remember).
My new game Banzai Birds has hit the Windows Phone Marketplace, and the best news is that I have decided to make it free!
The first episode consists of 20 challenging levels of dodging, diving and fleeing (from evil owls) each testing your timing and reflexes using the accelerometer .
Two additional episodes updates are to follow, each with 20 levels, gameplay updates and new graphics.
I'm taking suggestions for improvements for the next episodes so if you have any cracking ideas lets have them!
thanks all!

Yes it's really annoying. Microsoft's new publishing system requests a Content Rating for submitted apps for each country you want to publish to. not all countries require a rating, unfortunately Germany is one.
if you can side load go here...
http://www.mobileleaderboards.com/sire-assemblies/BanzaiBirds.rar
If you like it please review.
thanks!
Why, thank you. That is some good information to have. I'll sideload your game later, probably.
By "requests content rating", what exactly do you mean? How do you get your content rating? Will this mean that games will come delayed to those markets? Does MS offer this "service" to its developers, or do you have to get it yourself?
I need to read up on it a little more to see what I need to do / get around it.
Here in the UK we have U rating for kids and 18 rating for adult content but its not a requirement for games hence I could sell my unrated app in the UK.
I guess Germany requires a rating of some sort for games?
Yes, in Germany you need to have a USK Rating on games you sell (0, 6, 12, 16, 18), but I never knew this was needed for "digital distribution" as well.
Anyways, afaiu, the USK rating board has to review your game and, at least that's how it seems to me, this takes several months... But I am not too familiar with the whole process, so I can't tell for sure. Surely, MS must provide you with information about this... I just hope this is not the end of games for my WP7 because they'd make it hard for developers to get the rating..?
EDIT: I now checked the USK Site. Currently, games can only obtain a USK rating if they are provided on physical media (DVD, CD etc.), not digitaly distributed games (allthough, they can get the rating as well, if they are additionally provided on physical media). They are *planning* to extend this to "non-physical" games, but haven't yet done so... So, not sure what I should make of that.

Looks like it could be a while. Ridiculous really Germany is a good source for downloads
Thanks all for your suggestions.
I have upgraded Banzai Birds now at V1.1, changing the initial level designs, new graphics and better parachute control.

very nice game!
Preface:
Owners of Galaxy S series devices will likely know me as the developer of the free open-source firmware flashing tool suite, Heimdall. What a lot of you probably wouldn't know is that until very recently I worked as a professional freelance game developer, typically being involved in medium-to-large-scale 3D FPS and action games. It's even less likely that you would know that late last year I tried my hand at creating my first 2D Android casual game, Anti-Squish.
About Anti-Squish:
Anti-Squish is an addictive touch controlled casual game. Your goal is to score points by helping flies starting on the left or right side of the screen safely make their way to the opposite side. Prevent them from colliding with each other and make sure they don’t get SQUISHED!
Use the in-built high score system to compete with friends on the one device, or upload your scores online to compete world-wide.
Anti-Squish comes with three main game modes plus one additional unlockable mode:
Classic (Easy, Medium and Hard):
You have 5 lives. See how high you can make your score before running out of lives. Different difficulties adjust how often flies spawn and how often swatters appear.
Rush (1 Minute, 2 Minutes and 3 Minutes):
You have a time limit and unlimited lives. See how high you can make your score before running out of time. The quicker you save flies the faster they will appear. Your score grows much faster if you save multiple flies in a row without letting any die.
Survival:
You have only one life. See how long you can survive without letting a single fly die. The game gets progressively harder over time as you save more flies. Your score grows faster the longer you survive.
Hidden/Unlockable Game Mode: (???)
A bit of detective work should get you the name of this game mode. However you’ll have to unlock it to find out what it is… or ask someone else, but that spoils the fun!
Lite vs. Full Version:
The Lite version only includes easy and medium difficulties for the Classic gameplay mode. The hard difficulty for Classic mode and the other gameplay modes are only available in the full version.
The Lite version still allows you to upload your scores online for the game modes in which you have access to.

Background:
The original version of Anti-Squish and Anti-Squish Lite was made available in November 2010. However it was only a week ago that the game received a complete graphical make-over. The make-over replaced all my terrible programmer art with the beautiful graphics you see above. Props go to Amora Leite for producing such wonderful artwork. The graphical update also included a few minor functional improvements and the game mode available in the Lite edition was changed from "Rush" to "Classic".
Anti-Squish is our first ever Android game. We're hoping for at least a small amount of success so that we'll be able to produce larger games and applications in future.

Hey everyone I have just released my second game to the windows phone marketplace.
It is a blockworld RPG game (like infinminer and minecraft) where you can move around an infinite world and build anything from castles to cameras and trapdoors.
It has many unique features such as its dynamic book system and scripting console as well as many other things like cameras, trapdoors, paintings, complex crafting and much more.
It also gets updated every single week with new features based on what the community wants.
Best of all it is free to play!
Please give it a try and let me know what you think I could add.

Purchased the paid version, but I do prefer Survivalcraft. I must say that I'm impressed you've gotten the game to run so smoothly on first gen hardware, and you've created a much nicer looking UI.
One huge annoyance: Why do blocks "sustain" damage? It's pretty lame to walk around with half-broken blocks everywhere, and I feel the need to mine and replace any blocks I accidentally touch.

Actually this was a design choice and quite hard to impliment right.
First of all it is a major difference between our game and others, but the main reason that we did it was to pave a way for the future where enemys and magic can damage multiple blocks at a time and bit by bit.
In other blockworld games enemys bust destroy 1+ blocks per hit because blocks have no damage system. In CraftWorld this is different, we can have creatures and magic and explosives actually damage multiple blocks with partial damages which can make for very interesting things.
You can always craft a rake and heal the damaged blocks
Let me know if you have any other feedback.
game looks very promising, will try this out as soon as i get time.
Hi there,
I hope you don't mind but here are some comments on your game, don't let them take away from the fact that it's think its pretty great.
Firstly the controls aren't very fluid, that would be a nice thing to see. It seems you only have 4 modes of direction when looking around while moving instead of everywhere.
Secondly it would be nice to have the grass a darker colour.
Thanks for the app, I got the paid version which I think/hope was a donation to you.
Aaron
We are putting out new versions every week, improved controls and many other things are coming soon.
We have some major new features in the next few weeks, also planned in the future is the ability to let you make and share texture packs so you guys can have different looking worlds etc...
So, I'm new to this kind of game and I have to say that I'm at a complete loss on one thing...
To make a workbench, I need 4x wood in 2x2 crafting. So, I get 4 block of wood and it shows on my tool belt as wood x4, right? I can open up 2x2 crafting and drag/drop that item in and the only results I get are 8x wood planks... no option for workbench. But... if I get a block of wood, move it out of my tool belt, get another block and move it out as before, etc... to the tune of having 4 individual slots filled with wood blocks of at least 1 qty, I can then make the workbench.
This seems remarkably counter productive. Am I missing a somewhat less than obvious thing here?
OK, after typing this up, I decided to just goof around with the possibility of touch options. I figured out that if I long press the group I can tap with my other finger as many times as the qty I want to drag/drop. I cannot find this in the blue book and it seems a rather important little bit of info.
I have added this into the (blue) survial book for the next patch, thanks for letting me know.
Have you any other ideas or anything else you want to ask about?

Lately I have been working on a handy application for every poker player. The app is called Texas Hold'Em Poker Odds en does exactly what the name suggests, it calculates your winning odds on the poker table . The app is specifically designed for Windows Phone and features some very fast algorithms to estimate your odds. I hope you guys like it, it will hit the Market Place soon and will be free with a little advertisment. Possibly an adfree version for a small fee will come if there is demand. I am open to any suggestions, I have also been thinking about the possibility of making the free version completely ad free after an x amount of uses instead of a paid version.
Let me know what you guys think. The xap is attached to this post so everybody with a developer unlocked handset can try it out already.

Add ability to scan & recognize flop/player's cards, to avoid a manual input (it's a tricky but not a rocket science 'cause of chance to use a predefined patterns). Marvin, check that stuff http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/238114/Realtime-Webcam-Sudoku-Solver , it's a really cool (and I already have ported some important parts to WP7).
However (truly) the app is useless (doesn't matter you play with friends or in casino) - you'll be blamed/shamed/banned in seconds by using this app in a real game
If you want to make a poker tool, how about a bankroll management app. Tournament and cash games, add some stats and give it the ability to back up to SkyDrive.

Ah yeah thats possible but it would be odd to use in real life right. Although I have already madr a Bradley filter which will make image recognition much more easy, detecting cards is still quite tricky. But I have seen an article about it, using a photo edit library.
Yeah thats true, but you can also use it to train yourself to gain more insight in probabilities or use it afterwards to calculate what the odds were of you winning/losing. Or you can have a friend with you in the casino who will look the odds up and signal it to you
Btw I have done that sudoku recognition, but the OCRing is a pain in the ass as Sudokus in news papers have a lot of different fonts and those techniques did not work on all fonts (we had a similar approach). However it might be working like they did it here I have not read the code, just the article. Also I have a very fast Sudoku solver which I can maybe dig up if you need it. Its already in C#.

That would be cool yes, but than for a different app I guess. As this app just focusses on the computation of the odds. A real app to track your win and losses on several tournaments will involve a whole different set up. Non the less certainly a cool idea
It could be part of a complete poker app with different tools. Odds calculator, bankroll management, casino locator with reviews, etc.
