Hi,
I have a PS3 and Xperia T. I can connect from the PS3 to LT30p media server and stream the content. However, I cannot push the content to the PS3 using Play on device feature. Am I doing someting wrong? have you tried?
Thanks,
Mugur

I've been trying but without success.
Some forum posts I've read suggest the PS3 implements DLNA media player (DMP) but not media controller (DMC) functionality. If that's the case then we will only ever be able to pull from the phone which would suck because being able to do Airplay style remote control would be great.
The Xperia T help guide is a bit vague about how you can link the two.
I'm going to keep experimenting with it though.

Update: I've managed to push M4V files and MP3 to my Samsung Smart TV now so I know the functionality in Movies and Walkman apps works.
Something to note though is that the phone doesn't do any transcoding so the target player must support your audio/video codec natively.

Let me know if you manage to do something. Also when playing from the phone media server HD content the stream is not smooth, it's interrupted. It's maybe because my wi-fi network? or what?
Mugur
http://mugur-ionescu.ro/tag/xperia
Playing HD across a WiFi network is often going to result in stuttering. WiFi often can't retain a high enough constant bit rate to stream HD video - due to signal strength of the transmitting and receiving devices and interference. Also, WiFi often has other devices on it sharing the bandwidth which just makes things worse.
The only way I've been able to reliably stream HD is via my 200Mbps Homeplug adapters or over a wired connection.
The other option (if you aren't fixated on streaming) is to get a MHL (HDMI output) cable for your XT and watch your phone directly on your TV!

No, you have to buy one. They aren't expensive and you can get an official Sony TV dock (which will probably be ridiculously overpriced) or you can buy an after-market cable from Amazon or somewhere similar for about €5. (got mine from Amazon)

I don't think so - if MHL cable is plugged in you get HDMI out and phone charging and that's it.
Back on topic though, I foundthis:
http://asia.cnet.com/blogs/an-updat...videos-from-your-nas-home-server-62214088.htm
If you scroll down to the bit about the PS3 it says BubbleUPNP might be able to push content to the games console.
Unfortunately my wife has hijacked the TV and I'm out after work tomorrow night so won't be able to test it for a few days myself.

The dock only has a HDMI port and plug for USB power. The keyboard and mouse were probably connected via Bluetooth.

I checked both apps, same behaviour. I cannot push the content from the phone, only from ps3.
After updating to .195 firmware (official one through PC Companion): "Connected devices" program dissapeared and play on device was replaced by "throw". Media server can be started from control panel

Finally had a chance to install BubbleUPNP and Skifta. Both are good DNLA apps. I preferred Skifta but BUPNP was great to use too. I'm leaving them both installed.
To answer the push to PS3 question - neither of them do it. Couldn't get Skifta to work with the PS3 at all in the short time I played. BUPNP did work as a media server with the PS3 pulling content but we were managing that before.
In summary: we can't push media to the PS3 for now, so hopefully Sony will realise they dropped the ball there and fix it soon!

It's driving me nuts. The only thing that stops the the Nexus 7 being nothing more than a toy or glorified ebook for me is the fact I cannot find any form of big screen streaming for it. My 2 year old phone has MHL abilities which is okay but someone must know if there are any plans for the Nexus 7? It seems to be ridiculous to have such a powerful device and not be able to use it on a bigger screen.
I've searched back 10 pages on this subject and found nothing so welcome any fresh perspectives on it.

+1 to BubbleUPnP...
Though screen mirroring is not possible in BubbleUPnP, you can throw any media from it to your TV or other
DLNA enabled devices...
Luckily, my TV has WiFi dongle and Wi-Fi direct feature...
so, once my device is connected to the TV via WiFi-direct, launch BubbleUPnP and select the TV as renderer, I can
throw any media to the TV...
I'm also hoping and wishing for the screen mirroring...
Hi I will look at BubbleUPnP, I've been using Skifta for the time being which does DNLA quite well.
I use my PS3 as a receiver but it doesn't support many file formats.
It's a real shame the Nexus doesn't at least support MHL.

Well. S4 is quite powerfull for our device and well. Its kinda useless unless you do something that requires that firepower. Well Sony has put a great H/W mhl chip and it can interpolate the screen to FullHD if you have proper cable and tv. Watching Hd movies is a pleasure but only sometimes. I know English and i dont need subtitles. But when i wana watch a film with my family. And its full HD. I cant. S/W decoding lacs and it shows subtitles. H/W is perfect and smooth but Sony didnt make subtitles to be shown over H/W decoding on the big screen. Have anyone found a way to show subtitles ?
So the solution is to download VLC for Android and enable Hardware acceleration in options. It plays 1080p uncomressed videos perfectly and supports subtitles over the MHL cable

And I believe it's got nothing to do with Sony, it's a limitation of the technology, because Dice player offers an expliciely stated experimental feature for subtite output via hdmi. I'd have to check if its for Samsung devices only though, I believe I remember the option saying that.
Side question: most fullhd tvs feature a usb port nowadays anyway, why not use that and play your stuff directly on the tv if the technology doesnt seem to be really there...?

Nope, it's not the same: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI#Relationship_with_MHL
Different connector, different wireing, different (altered) protocol. Nope, not the same.
Well it's not possible on your phone but you have a PC. There's plenty of tools to be found in the allmighty internet allowing you to easily overlay the subtitles onto your existing video. They will be a part of the "images" then though. Depending on the firepower at your disposal, such an encode takes somwhere between 10-30 minutes per movie for a typical hollywood blockbuster.

Yep. Well i asked a person who edits videos and he said that it cant be hardcoded. Butt. thanks for the info. Although I really want sony to implement subtitles over MHL. And i mean there is no difference if i say HDMI or MHL. MHL is a convertor and it decodes colors different way. But it has aboslutly the same posibilities.

I've seen that the TV Remote app can be used to control your xbox 360 (by selecting Microsoft as your cable box manufacturer). However when I tried it, it does not work for me. It is able to control both my Samsung and LG TVs, and oddly when I try to program each button individually it also doesn't work, except for the up button. Could it be it only works with newer Xboxes? Mine are the older white models (I have two both do not work). Has anyone else had any trouble with this at all? Have a newer xbox? Think my HTC One is defective?
Thanks for any info!
I can confirm that it works on the older white xbox which I have. I have my TV and Cable box under a remote one. And my xbox is under a remote two.
I just tried it on a second HTC One at the sprint store and it did not work their either . . . can anyone who had it working share the hardware version of their HTC One? Mine is 0004. I also tried to turn on or off the display model Xbox 360 at target without success, but that may not be an ideal test.
Sent from my HTCONE using xda app-developers app
Ah ha! In the Xbox remote control settings, my Xbox was set to 'Xbox 360 media remote', I changed it to 'Both remotes' and now it works, hope that helps someone else. Also you could use it to prevent your friends with HTC Ones from messing with you, at least your Xbox.

0004 here. I believe if I remember correctly that the Xbox has to be on when you sync/setup. Which is different from the TV which had to be off during setup. I did not see any reference concerning this in your trouble shooting so maybe this is it.

I know on some tvs if you go from your phone you can choose third party player and it will stream. Also if you have Google TV Gmail the app to yourself and you can install it on your Google TV and it works that's what I did also. Now apple fans have one less advantage over android haha and you don't have to root your phone unlike the iPhone! Haha when using the third party player choose chomecast if you have to use an app if not you can always try the app cheapcast but that usually goes to another device ie. Phone to tablet but I don't have a ChromeCast to test it on I may try to go to my friends house and test it for you

Yes, I have an MHL adapter. Haven't tried it yet with this, but I'm wondering if you can send it to the TV wirelessly from the phone without downloading the movie. I can do that in the Gallery by choosing the LG TV under Select Player.
You can try sending it over Dlna to the TV with the flipps app (formerly imedia share). I haven't had much luck with that in the past though. Miracast adapter should work wirelessly too though. There are a lot on the web, htc 's is the medialink
