Virgin stock rom or maybe bell - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a i9000m that was originally with bell. I've played with tons of roms but would like to go to original stock and allow kies to update. I'm no longer with bell... I am now with Virgin (canada) and would like to find the original (or close to it) virgin rom and have kies update it. I've searched and searched and cannot find it here. I'm sure I've just overlooked it. If somebody could point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it.

Hi joedirt7 try here..
sammobile.com
but.. i'm on Fido in Montreal and 4 best reception ( better than the original) use a rom ICS or JB with radio KCF1 or KJ1 ( cause with this radio, desappear the R of roaming )
bye

Here's the Bell stock ROM...scroll down a ways

so no mean waiting just flash custom is best.....
DTJG4 is OPTUS stock firmware.
Looks like we are all in it togeather.
The European firmwares are far in advance of ours.
Greetings to everyone.
I have a DXJP2 ROM that I'm happy to share to the community. We'll need assistance in rooting and uploading said ROM. Cheers!

Thanks for that!
I think you should post this in a new thread. The DX region ROMs cover southeast Asia, and a lot of us would be interested. The pda may be older but the radio rom and csc are interesting.
Thanks Hardcore. Your comment is much appreciated. Can you please enlighten me on the things that make this ROM interesting?
To give you a little backgrounder Sir, I got hold of this ROM from my provider about 6 weeks ago just after Samsung failed to meet their September Froyo commitment. I was kinda adamant in making a thread on this ROM because I wasn't sure how the community will react to it given that it's a leaked ROM and there were already a number of ROM releases that were being modded and/or enhanced, even some that has higher build numbers like JP3 or JP6.
Let me assure you that I installed this ROM and found it to be very stable and fast and obviously, I pretty much wanted to root it and performed a lagfix (to make it faster and just to see the Quadrant numbers for the heck of it). But, since I'm not a software engineer / developer, there was obviously a lack of knowhow on my part to implement said operations.
During the course of this time, I made a number of PM's to several members asking their help on how to root it, but, their replies and suggestions to root this ROM pointed me to either JP6's or JPA rooting instructions, which using my common sense weren't applicable to the DXJP2 (if my conclusion is correct). I also fervently monitored the activity on this forum (which I haven't done for a number of years) hoping that finally there was someone who's able to get this ROM build besides me and who already found a way to a root solution, but up to now, there's not a single thread on this.
I hope that a good member of the community would stumble upon this thread and help us in rooting this build. In the meantime, until the root for this happens, I hope we can keep this in thread or until an official DXXX build comes out.
What do think my friend?
if i want to upgrade to a custom ROM which one is best suited for the JG4 firmware ???

I'm using Doc's JPO 7.6.2 ROM as of the moment with an upgrade package that I edited using 7Zip, Stock AOSP lockscreen with extended power menu and battery mod. Oh, and I'm using the Hardcore's V2.2 - 200Mhz kernel.
I read somewhere in the XDA that there will be Froyo updates officialy available from 11th November and later on, like a couple of days after... Yet nothing for us JG4s... I have a DXJG4 with no good news...
Can someone confirm whether we will have this new update anytime soon?
If samsung is gonna hold longer than this then I'll deal with Froyo myself.
official Froyo update for JG4 was released yesterday November 19. Philippines

That's the way to do it, forget waiting on Optus etc to release anything.
I don't see what they shall bring to the table, Optus apps woopie do already got them & APN info etc from backups.
Only interest I have is to see what radio they use, however JPP is working well here so far.
Honestly, Optus doesn't have the man power anymore to go performing miracles like they did prior to Singtel taking over. The Optus geek pit on the 21st floor in North Sydney is RIP. I'd hate to see whom is in charge of doing the firmware releases these days. Guaranteed it's a clueless monkey or it is contracted out to another mob to save $ for Singtel
I'm from singapore, and i haven't get Froyo yet. ):
DXJG4.
Check your Kies, singapore's JPA is out
How about Malaysia? Froyo out yet?
Also can someone running stock dx post their CSC, modem and PDA codes so I can flash mine back and do the official kies update?

JVK (2.3) on Bell I9000M?

After searching google I've read a few fairly recent articles that say installing 2.3 on a Bell I9000M is possible and they all give a broken link to the forums here. I've checked samfirmware and the only JVK (2.3) firmware they have there is Europe. I'm very computer literate but fairly new to firmware upgrades / messing around with my phone so I'm just wondering would I be able to install European 2.3 firmware of my Canadian I9000M from Bell? Or is there a special release of it that I need to get? I've poked around here a bit but couldn't find the answer I was looking for. The firmware I'm talking about is the I9000XXJVK release. Thanks in advance, didn't think I could have this much fun with my phone.
Been curious myself had nightmares with the last upgrade... Three sgs's from bell. They didn't like that but i was within the 30 days doa clause.

Pretty much any of the stock or custom JVK or 2.2 Roms will run on your Bell Vibrant. I've used Darrky's, Doc's, Ultimate and Serendipity with no problems. Most of the current modems work fine on Bell, although I try to stick with a JL2 modem if I can. It seems to get slightly better signal. Use Doc's Rom Kitchen and you can pick and choose your options including the JL2 modem.

Done and done!. If anyone else is curious head on over to samfirmware and grab the European I9000XXJVK release, working for me atm. About to apply root from the last thread jentech posted. Thanks jen!
JVK upgrades the bootloaders though right? If you install the version without the bootloaders, you will get into a bootloop right? The bootloaders in JL2 is what is preventing the i9000m from getting corrupt SD failures from what I understand. I would really like to know if updating the bootloaders with JVK will open our phones to the corrupt SD thing again. I would love to hear some feedback from i9000m users who have gone to JVK. Like how long they've been running, and especially if there are any i9000m users who have upgraded to JVK and got corrupt SD. I'm not excited of going through yet another i9000m. Thanks!
I would love to know the answer to this question as well!
ive been using criskelo's 2.3.3 rom with no problems... all you have to do is flash stock jvk with bootloaders from odin and then flash a speed mod froyo kernal
after goto cwm and flash the criskelo v25 rom and then get the ugkc1 modem
from criskelo's rom page (page 40 i think cwm 3 compatible)... and flash the rom in cwm and everything willl run awsome... the rom is unreal ive had no problems at all on my i9000m (remember to enable all animations in settings to get the crt screen off effect... runs way smother and faster then froyo....
I too have been running on jvk for the past week+. I've alternated between criskelo and juwe's and am currently on juwe's for the past week with no problems. I changed my modem from the jvk one (poor reception) to the jk4 and it runs as normal. give both criskelo and juwe a try to see which u like better (personally the smoothness and battery life of juwe has won me over) as neither has caused any problems at all once u follow the appropriate steps like those that remenis outlined.

[Q]Bell i9000m can i spoof firmware for 2.3.3?

Hello
Can i use the new gingerbread Build number GINGERBREAD.XWJVB on bell with the i9000m?
just wondering if theres any concerns with spoofing the firmware and using kies to update to this.
do i need to choose a bell csc after i flash or will i need to manualy enter apn? thanks all
im just disapointed with bell being so far behind (still 2.2!!)
I tried yesterday night with NEE code but kies didn't find any update.
I also want to know the answer of this question.
Bump

Ok so i did some screwing around with my i9000m from bell seeing as how my little boy fried my last one. Want to load gingerbread you can do it just pay attention to a lot of things. I loaded Juwe's build now here's the key I've got the xwjvb kernel running so far no issues right now the only issue that comes with this rom is the modem doesn't like our towers here in Canada go figure right! but alas you can load the KC1 modem after going through the xwjvb build aka gingerbread it works. take a look at Juwe's rom it's well worth the effort and looks great! Good Luck out there!
I'll have to try that one
if you want to use Kies you will probably have to wait a while for Bell to catch up. Bite the bullet, install Odin 1.7 and use it to install the JK bootloaders (see thread) and either the stock deodexed JVK or the Rom of your choice. Using a Rom based on CF3.1 gets you rooted and installs CWM which will allow you to do everything else later without using Odin again. See the help/install for Doc's Rom and the instructions for CF3.1 they are laid out very straight forwardly (and see the q and a sextion) .After, add the KC1 modem if necessary -- I use it and it works great and is the latest modem for BMC (Bell). The reason to load deodexed is that you can that add and change themes as you want. You do not need the Bell CSC stuff. Couple of good guides now posted: seems a little daunting at first but works fine. Read first and know there's lots of people here to help: got a lot easier once I leanrt the SGS is actually very hard to kill completely: most locks are just a soft brick!

[Q] Telstra GT-i9000T Odin files

Guys,
I have been flashing roms for a year now and as stupid as this sounds I want to go 100% stock bloatware the lot with telstra, on my gt-i9000t in australia, every link I find is either dead or when I have flashed it is just a base rom, none of the telstra stuff is there, does anyone have this and is able to post it all up or does it even exist?? I have literally tried every rom you guys have built and loved them all in one way or another but until I can learn to do it myself I just want to go stock... anyone!
*bump*
Brad, I am also looking for stock telstra I9000T FW, either 2.1 or 2.2 will do
Hoping somebody has them!
Thanks.

i9000 modem trouble

Hello every1,
I have an i9000 with 4.1.1
3.0.42-00746-g6564605-dirty Devil3_1.3.1_Hellybean_cappy_CFS_BLN_CMC #524 Kernel version
i9000XXJVT Baseband version
that drives me nuts, because i have poor reception of wireless signal.
I`m not good at this, and i don`t want to mess it up, so i am at your mercy to fix it. I assume that whoever upgraded it to 4.1.1 *i recently bought it of Craigslist), did not put the correct modem in it (my carrier is AT&T prepaid).
Pretty please tell me what i can do to change my reception for the better.
Thanks a LOT
