What are the permissions to fix? Can they not be fixed with root explorer? (sorry for the dumb question, not used to mods without a custom recovery...)

I would have to say the reason we haven't seen a deodexed system file is we don't have root so we don't have a way to put it in over the existing one. Or is there a away?

Accessing Recovery
I'm not sure if anyone is aware of this, however, I was able to access the recovery by simply holding down x while powering on the device. once you see the little android logo, just tap simultaneously volume up & down buttons. you should be able to perform simple stuff such as factory resets. now you can also push an update.zip file so if any developers can push an exploitable .zip file to gain root access feel free too!
That would be nice. What do we name bootloader .zips on this phone? My last device was an Incredible and we named those PB31IMG.zip.
Once we get cwm and I can get a boot.img I can (try to) make a slimmed-down rom with some bloat removed.

not sure. but i'll do some research.
Nice that sounds like it makes an improvement towards rooting since that was how the thunderbolt had to be rooted too

No. The HTC phones are different; That method uses Fastboot to install an update rather than using Recovery.

we spent a few hours trying them all.. i finally have adb recognizeable in CWM..
so yes...
note: he is working on a new CWM specifically for our device... so if you want to wait.. the only thing that apparently doesnt work with the CWM we have now is update zips... so any mods to the system have to be pushed or manually copied and pasted with the device.. thats what i do...
you have to be really careful doing that.. not recommended.

You'll notice, especially in the 2nd screenshot, that there are totally different fonts in jelly bean. Quite stylish. You'll also notice that the most popular thread for roboto is mine.
Also, new version in OP. You should see a bit more light font. https://www.dropbox.com/s/fpl7ymfx99fk6pe/JellyBean-Font-Flash.zip. How is the zip working for everyone?

Any build should support Wifi tethering. WildChild's Illumunati Generic ROM supports it natively, but if you would like to do so manually on any build including stock, please follow these instructions:
-You will need SQLite Editor from the market, a paid app
-Go to Dialer Storage, then select telephony.db
-Select carriers, then scroll down to Numeric 310410
-Next change the value "apn" from broadband to pta

For some reason when I apply the boot animation, all I'm getting is a simple "android" boot animation. Tried a few of the different mirror links all with the same result
