Yup the problem that existed in 4.1.1, but that was fixed in 4.1.2 is broken yet again. WPA2 Enterprise w/TLS kicks out the old "Authentication Problem" when trying to connect. Absolutely unforgivable of Google to release this.
EDIT: Okay, I ended up wiping my Nexus 7, reinstalling the 4.1.2 image and then immediately running the 4.2. upgrade and now the WPA2 Enterprise works fine. Don't know what happened, but the complete wipe and reload seems to have worked.
Has 4.2 release as OTA already? If not, then we don't know if OTA will contain the same wifi firmware.
Wrong thread sorry
802.1x WiFi still doesn't work for me here at work, always "Connecting" until it times out, retries, repeat... Doesn't like something about the configuration I guess.

Mine will not work with PEAP/MSCHAPV2
Mine works fine here. It was broken for me in 4.1 but fixed in 4.1.2 and still working in 4.2
Downloaded factory image from Google's site.
Flashed over existing 4.1.2 rooted.
I'm getting a pop up which reads:

I thought I would give "Clear Data + Force Stop" combo to the Email App.
Not only are the buttons grayed out, but I noticed something:
The app reads version 4.1
Could this be the reason I can't add my Exchange account?
I'm guessing it's something else; I was able to add the server with my secondary account, getting the typical message "Android has to update the security settings", and does so just fine.
Anyone else having trouble or has noticed an odd version of apps with the new 4.2 release?

Wpa2 enterprise works for me. We don't use certificates or a validation server though.

I'm new to the forums but I have tried to read through as much as I can. I updated to 2.2 last week with the update from samsung. I knew that the "update" wouldn't work any better with my work's wifi connection but I wanted to try anyways.
My question is, out of all the roms out there, do any of them work using 802.1x security with authentication through peap and mschapv2?
I can see our network but can't connect to it, our radius servers don't even see my connection attempts. I work in the school's IT department so we have spent a pretty fair amount of time trying to make this work. Not just for me, but for other android users as well.
I've tried using a few of the wifi apps but none of them seem to help.
I am using a samsung captivate on att, not rooted.
Thanks for any help

Add the network manually and select the right authentication method. In settings>wireless
Thanks for the reply but I've been through the whole wifi menu and tried different settings and I can't seem to get anything to work so I was thinking of rooting and loading a rom if enterprise wifi connections are better.
Any rom is basically going to work the same as far as wifi goes. As long as you can select the settings to match your network as shown in the screenshot, it should work.

Not always. If he needs and ad-hoc connection he needs to use a different wpa_supplicant than the one that comes with stock and many of the custom roms. As well, it is possible that the dhcpcd on the rom he is running is not capable to obtain ip/dns/subnet from his particular network.
Take a look here for the dhcp info and here for the supplicant thingy (not sure if is compatible with galaxy s, there was one for SGS floating around but cant find it atm)
If still doesnt work, it should work by editing the bcm... something.conf in data (i dont have my phone with me.)
EDIT: Im using my phone with LEAP / IPsec and is a pain to configure it without an app that someone made for this specific network configuration
I received a phone call on my phone yesterday afternoon from the number +162599121 which tried to gain root access to something called data center on the phone. I didnt know what it was but I allowed it to pass through, though i did not pick the call.
Then when I got up this morning I saw this on the phone.

By any chance are these two related? Did some googling and found out that other people are also getting this but no one seems to know what it is. I'm from singapore running a rooted, but completely stock unbranded Samsung LSE ROM (Singapore CSC) and Speedmod kernel.
You are using 3g without any signal.. Amazing! Well never heard of this case that preconfig is requesting su permissions before at xda. It's a system file look at screenshot

Its pretty common to get 3G or even HSPA with zero bars here.
Anyway I found out that preconfig might have something to do with changing the CSC of the phone. Im already using a ROM with my region's CSC so there should not be a need for it. And I doubt samsung will try to change it in any way.
BUMMMMMP
I have same mesage displaying ewery now and then, usualy I have to restart phone to make it dissapear. I dont remember to recive any strange phonecalls or anything, I did install app called rando about the same time this message start to show up, but I dont think it is connected.
Hello
I have a rooted att s5 and in my wifi list I seem to have had 2 access points that were fake? Cad005 and Dre tega.
both were wpa2 secured with Mac id's of 000000 by xerox corp (I used wifi analyzer).
I was afraid I was hacked downloaded malware bytes lookout avg no virus or malware. I removed some questionable apps (always from play store. ...anyways after reboot it's gone.
When they were showing no other devices showed them as being access points? They always had th e same fixed signal strength in wifi analyzer
Any ideas?

Maybe you can within reach of a printer that has wifi capabilites.

Maybe. But the signal strength never varied while walking or driving which was kinda wiered. Anyway hasn't recurred since. Thanks
Same thing happened to me
Same thing happened to me with my stock ATT S5 (with the recent OTA - G900AUCU2ANG3). In my case, the access points are legit, but from a town I was in yesterday, 50 miles away. The MAC addresses are all zero and say Xerox in WiFi Analyzer (I suspect Xerox has the OID of zero, but haven't looked it up.)
It will probably clear up with a reboot, but it's strange that old access points that previously had a signal for are still showing up with a -80dB signal in both WiFi Analyzer and in Settings/Wireless.
From an earlier post, it looks like you did the update, too. I wonder if this is a new "feature"?
the samething,see a screenshot。。。

Ive not had the problem since i reset my phone (wipe). I still use WiFi analyzer and no recurrence. Might it have to do w the wifi driver made by wifi analyzer? Did others affected install that?

I am on T-Mobile
I know of the build.prop edit way, and the sqlite way .. Being on T-Mobile, which one of these methods is the correct way to enable unlimited data tethering?
Dirty Unicorns shamu
Anyone?
SimpleAOSP shamu
SQLlite. I am on a T-Mobile unlimited plan with no tethering allotment, and it works perfectly with the sqllite edit.
Not trying to be a douche, but you shouldn't bump a post earlier than 24 hours has passed. it's in the rules here.
Didn't know that sorry to the mods/forum..and thanks for the clarification on the tether issue
SimpleAOSP shamu
I am having problems with tethering. I have it working with the tether_dun_required 0 using sqlite
My problem is really strange it still accumulates on my t-mobile account.
I go to my account in t-mobile where I have 3GB of tethering
and it still shows up as MB's used and even stranger is the fact that I am using GB's but it only registers to my account as MB's.
Notification states wifi hotspot is on but no device connected.
This is a recent issue because up until a couple of days ago nothing registered to my account I am at a loss at what to try next.
I have tried on multiple roms with the same result anyone have any ideas?

they have to be looking into peoples packets. same thing is happening to me right now.
I tried setting up my fingerprint and get this error. Phone is up to date, tried factory reset, clear cache, and rebooting like it says. It is still broken. I called t-mobile, and the tech said it is a known issue and to wait for a patch. If it is known, has anyone else here seen this?

I've gotten same error. I've stopped using the fingerprint security for that reason. I've noticed it doesnt recognize my fingerprint all the time.
Just seemed buggy to me, its like i have to place my finger carefully in the similar manner i did when setting up the fingerprint.
A someone who has worked on fingerprint scanners of all kinds, while it could be a samsung issue, it is also possible the fingerprint scanner is not picking up your fingerprints if they are too shallow. This is a common issue. This can actually happen.

Are a couple of easily googleable instances of this.
The best suggestion is compare to someone's working fingerprints as a way to be sure its the phone and not your fingerprints. Hope that helps.
This happens as soon as I press the fingerprint button under Security settings. I can't even attempt to register one.
Yeah sounds like a hardware issue. I'd get an exchange

Get it replaced. My iPhone 6 had the same issue and Apple said it was a faulty sensor. Those things are very touchy.
