I've done everything I've tried roms and nothing .. you buy the camera! Internet and install it and nothing .. jb sometimes at work but not now.
what he saw that some had my problem and updated the firmware of your camera .. the question is?? how to update the camera firmware of Captivate? or recommend I do?

sorry for my english.
I did a downgrade right now to see q and nothing happened!
always stays that way! .. I leave the attached picture
http://i50.tinypic.com/2r5xdfp.jpg

I would do brand new install through Odin or heimdall via download mode
thereafter check camera module connection if re flash won't help
good luck

talk about a downgrade? and if that works then as I q?

first, you have to check whether it works or not
the best way to check it is to use brand new stock ROM via Odin or heimdall.
if the camera and phone works go and grab custom ROM of your choice.
if not, you have to check inner hardware...
good luck!

Either the camera you bought online is defective or the physical connection on the board is bad... Of course there's always the chance that the connectors on the board have some corrosion on them and if you cleaned them all would be better. Or you could have installed the camera upside down so it's just seeing the inside of the phone...

I clean the contacts on the card and is well connected the camera! .. I sold the cappy used, and it came with that problem, quisas previous owner modified the driver of the camera or something, I tried the camera on another cappy and it works.

[Q] "Flashing" Screen with some apps

Hi Guys, I've done a search and come up with nothing.
I've been on Andriod for 2 years had 7 devices in that time, rooted them all, Very comfy with Flashing ROM's etc.
PROBLEM: Some apps make my screen "Flash" repeatedly.
SOFTWARE BEHAVIOUR - The apps that have done this so far are, Facebook, Gallery, Doubletwist & Quadrant. The App will load fine, display the landing menu and all seems well. Sometimes i can even use an app for 30 seconds and all seem fine. Then i will click a Facebook post, or a "pile" of pictures in Gallery and it will start FLASHING
DEVICE BEHAVIOUR When one starts to do it the Back & Menu keys no longer work, but Home will always return me to the front screen. Phone functions normal (but App is still in same state). If you kill the app then it opens where up where you left off but once you start to navigate it starts flashing again.
I've experienced this problem on:
CheckROM
CriskeloRomNOTE
KINGDROID ELEGANCE NOTE (Current ROM)
ACTIONS TAKEN SO FAR.
Uninstalled / Reinstalled the apps (FB and Quadrant) - still comes back.
Flashed Different ROM's
I'm as close to stock as any of the ROM's above are. I'm not using any 3rd party launchers or any customisation software.
Any ideas guys

Tried Stock ROM??
Thanks
Thats about the the only ROM i haven't tried. I'd have thought that it would have been a problem for other users though.

I would say that the stock rom be the first thing you try. Try and see if you have the issue the way Samsung had intended it to be used.

The question is though why its no one else having the same problem?
I'll put the stock ROM on and see what happens
Can anyone point me towards a ROOTED stock ROM for an UNBRANDED Note?
Cheers guys

Why nobody else has the problems you have? If the problems still exist on stock rom, i guess you got a faulty screen/ other part of hardware.

If you have same problem after Flashing. Try Flashing LA3 through PC Odin.

Yeah but that wouldn't make sense, if the unit was faulty then it would exhibit the behaviour all the time. The only problems I have are with the apps mentioned in the OP so therefore it couldn't be a hardware problem.

Quick update - (I dont normally have auto rotation on. It annoys me) However i just had it on to watch a video. I checked facebook and after a while it started to flash. I rotated the device and it stopped - weird.

If they exist in stock rom, too, it is hardware related, imho. You don't know which triggers the flashing of the screen. Maybe it occurs only on a specific temperature, or CPU operation these apps produce.

Strange camera problem

Whenever I flash a custom ROM from stock eclair, the camera just doesn't work half the time. The camera app would open and it would just be a blank viewfinder. I found that closing and reopening the camera like 3 or 4 times fixes it temporarily. When I leave the phone sitting for a while and try to open the camera, it always opens with the blank viewfinder.
I tried searching about this but I guess it isn't a common issue at all, so if anyone can offer any advice I'd appreciate it

Well this really depends on the ROM you are flashing when coming from Eclair, which ROM did you try, and which kernel with that?
Well, I was on Team Hacksung's ICS build 17(icy glitch v14 b6), AOKP(same kernel), Doc's Master(the kernel that came with it), and Slim ICS 3.1(the kernel that came with it). I also tried a custom gingerbread ROM which I can't remember the name of atm.

OK, I think the problem is that all of the roms you've been flashing are ics builds and all of the ics builds for the galaxy s are ported at the moment, and because they are ported they don't always work. So my guess is that your camera doesn't work because of your ics builds, why don't you try a ROM built for captivate like fasty ROM or darky ROM or even cyanogenmod7?

I actually have tried cm7 but the camera would not open at all with that one.

None of the CM build are made for the captivate, try a rom built from stock and see if the issue happens on that. Maybe try legend rom from crt it is a very good rom based off of stock kk4.

I've tried flashing legend but that got me into a bootloop. I have successfully flashed Simply Stock, but I had the same camera issue.
This was a while ago, but I remember having camera problems as soon as I got the official gingerbread update from froyo. If I remember correctly the camera would always force close as soon as I opened it.
you must have a hardware problem.
camera works fine on ICS for the past 2 months at least. nothing but bad advice in this thread. i am running AOKP right now. used camera today.. used it now.. it works.
cm camera works fine, cm IS built for captivate, or in those thoughts... CM isnt built for any phone..??..
Well, I should also make it clear that the camera always seems to open with no problems on stock eclair or froyo, so yeah... it's a pretty strange case. I don't really want to trade everything else great about ICS and go back to froyo because of my ocd lol.

That's kind of what i meant lol its not a stock build.

Um, so is it unlikely I'll ever be able to fix this issue then?
Had same problem with every ICS rom I've tried. Seems camera only works with LCD density set to 220, at least on my phone. Check if it makes a difference on your phone. Under Settings > ROM Control> General UI> LCD Density

[Q] camera failed, downgrade to 2.2

Hi good afternoon,
I have red some forums for my SGT p1000, but never found answer to my question.
I have tried several ROM (4.04, 4.1.1) but still can't find the one with good camera. While opening the camera, it always crashed "Camera not responding". Also, tried some application from Google Play as advised in other forums but they still failed. stucked at camera initialising"
I also restocked using Overcome safe method.. tried the camera, and it also indcates "Camera failed".. I am not sure what have happened since I came from 2.2 ROM wiith the camera working flawlessly.
Can someone give me an instruction on how to downgrade to 2.2 and link to official 2.2 ROMs..
Thanks and really appreciate if someone could help
why don't you just use the overcome gb stock safe method that you used before.
it will be an official GB JQ1 rom.
why must it be a 2.2 ?
Edit: didn't read that you said overcome stock safe also has camera failed.
strange.

no, it's not just sound but the camera won't open.. that's why I want to try 2.2 to check if my camera app would be fine.
BTW, what JellyBean ROM are you using?
I'm using SCH-I800 (gtab verizon) and I'm stuck with camera not working. Error : camera has stopped.
I'm tried 2 rom : cm 9.1 p1c and aokp milestone 6.
Anyone got issue same me?
MDP issues
Could MDP issues crash camera hardware??
Could changing ROM from an MDP to a non-MDP crash the camera drivers??
hope anyone could clear things.. thanks in advance

I've had the same type of problem on my vzw tab. I played around with CM9 and the app would crash if using the flash. Right now I'm on an unofficial "beta kang" gb 2.3.5 ROM and the camera almost completely works, except it crashes if I try to use the front camera in video mode. (The front camera works for snapshots, and it works in other apps like Skype). The stock roms seem to be the only ones that have a 100 percent correct working camera. There are rooted stock roms out there, so I'd suggest one of those.

Camera problem, help needed plz

Since I did a factory reset?! on this phone ages ago, only the front camera works.
I've 3 file flashed back to GB etc, can't get it to work. Does someone have a link to the camera firmware for me to flash please, or any ideas as to what the problem may be?
Thanks

You can find firmware here: http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/
These are also possible problems:
1) Your default camera.apk has an issue -- Try another camera app, such as fxcamera, camera 360, etc
2) Do you have other apps that use the camera? Like mirror or flashlight apps or something? It might be interferring. Actually it could be other apps interfearing too. I'd make a back-up and start uninstalling suspicious apps.
3) It could also be also a hw problem. Hopefully not.
Good luck!

Thanks for the reply
It can't be the camera .apk or rogue app because its like that with different ROMs. I've got 3 fresh nandroid backups on my SD... Newest helly bean, newest x-bean, and my usual slim 2.7, and its the same with them all.. and I 3 file flashed GB and that made no difference either..
So I think like u say it could be a hardware problem, hope not... But I've got a feeling its the camera firmware. I've never regged with sammobile, cos its got one of those captcha things that I can't do by phone, so I never knew they had the camera firmware..
Going to register and try that, and I'll report back..
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk 2
Registered for sammobile, but I can't find any camera firmware. I'm sure I've read somewhere that there is such a thing..
So unfortunately I'm still stuck until I find out if camera firmware does exist.. I'm sure I was told that a while ago there was an update camera firmware setting in the camera options in an old version of GB.
Or is there files or a folder in root that I could try overwriting with someone else who has a working cameras version????
Thx..
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk 2
Hmm I also just looked for it and I couldn't find it either.
Google search didn't even give me 1 proper hit. So I'm suspicious if there is a specific firmware update for camera.
Interestingly I could find it for S3.
Kies should detect any needed firmware upgrades. Have you tried?
http://www.samsung.com/ca/consumer/mobile/mobile-phones/smartphones/GT-I9000HKABMC-support
Good idea, something I've never ever used is kies. Definitely worth a shot, but I've got a feeling I'm gonna have to flash GB again before it will want to play :-/
Gotta be tried though so I'll need to do it. Failing that I think I'll buy a new camera module, just in case it is hardware...
