Very very very carefully. I think this phone is a beast but it has an akelies hill in that it will break the glass if a coner is struck if it fall or is dropped. Im using an ebay case holster combo, not the amzer one. The one that looks similar to the seidio design.

The phone fits nicely in my pocket with its case. I do like to carry it around as you get a lot of people asking what phone it is.
Purse. It's got its own pocket, safe and snug. I do have a thin grippy case on it, and have a leather clamshell case on order, it'll fit in that pocket, too.
Suitcase and a luggage rack for transportation. No ive got a zenus diary case on the way.

I have basically swore off putting anything in my left hand pocket of any pants now, reserving it only for my phone, if I must put it in my pocket. If I am wearing a jacket, or in uniform, it goes in a breast pocket. I have learned the hard way that wet application screen protectors that aren't properly fitted to the phone to compensate for the rounded edges will catch on everything and eventually peel off. But ya, like the guy said, carrying it in hand is the best way, and I bought ensquared insurance just in case.
Body glove case for now in my left chest pocket since I always wear work clothes. And when not at work in the right leg knee pocket that all of my dickies have. Perfect for a phone of this magnitude. Can't wait for the defender to come out for it though.

Don't wear (blue) jeans and I do not have pocket in my Pants!!
I wear it in my pocket (jeans), and my coat pocket. I don't know why a lot of people ask "does it even fit?" because it fits just fine! Yeah, it's bigger, but it's no wider than any wallet, and it's for sure thinner than any wallet!
Thanks for the responses. I usually wear "Cargo" Pants and shorts with the additional pockets. I carry my i9100 in the front or back pocket of jeans. I don; think the front pocket would work with a Note.
I really like this phone. Since actual phone use is about 5% of my SGS II I like the bigger size. I use it more for other things and the larger screen is tempting.

Looking for opinions on most protective case. Defender seems like the best but the screen protector....and hearing about dust getting in between it and the screen is a little disconcerning. I used a seidio active case on my thunderbolt and loved it, dropped on concrete several times and faired very well. But after recently breaking few months ago and seidio not wanting to replace it like they used to...kind of left a bad taste in my mouth and I dont know if I want to go back to them. That's what she said. Please let me know your opinion. Thanks!

Although I don't have the note2. I have an s3 and I have the otter box defender. I couldn't get the oil slick look to go away so I just took the built in screen protector out. It just pops right out. I have my full screen protector on there anyway to its still fully protected.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
Ya that's what im thinking. Just thinking... should I buy it then immediately break the case by ripping out the built in protector. It just feels weird to break something so expensive on purpose lol. Then, does the adhesive that was holding it on cause an issue or removing the protector cause the case rigidinity to be compromised?
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
If you can wait 3-4 weeks the uag http://www.urbanarmorgear.com/products/black-note-ii-case
But if you need it now then go for the otter defender or commuter.
Also, if removing screen protector from defender is there still benefit(s) to using that case versus an otterbox commuter? Being that there is an included screen protector versus built in already.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
Rigidity shouldn't be compromised, and from what I read people use hair dryer to heat up the edge of the screen for a glue to soften, thus doing a clean removal of the screen. Glue supposed to roll off easily when its hot.. But you have to keep in mind, Otterbox gives you 1yr warranty if something happens to the case. If something breaks or gets damaged and you need to replace it, they will ask your original case back (I called them up to verify it) and even if you going to glue the screen back - there is a chance they will see it and might use it against you. I personally didn't want to take my chance, so I'm returning my Defender back.
Ya I was worried about breaking/enhancing this case for this reason. What did you end up going with?

I have two cases for my Note 2: a Seidio Active case, and, as of this morning, an Otterbox Defender. Both have their pros and cons. The Seidio is more comfortable in the hand, and quite a bit slimmer, but the soft rubber inner case peels away from the phone too easily and all sorts of nasty scratchy stuff can get underneath it. It also has a handy little kickstand. The Defender is bloody huge, and for me at least, not as comfortable to hold. But it really does feel bombproof. The inbuilt screen protector isn't wonderful, but it works ok. Just needs an oleophobic coating.
As for which is best, I guess it depends how much you think you're going to throw your phone around

Throw? Never, unless onto the bed across the room. Its more of, late night out drinking and drop it from like 5 feet high on to concrete... that kind of scenario. Siedio for tbolt held up well for that did break the case eventually but phone still doesnt have a scratch. But yes, thank you for mentioning comfort, because if it never slips out of your hand... you never drop it. Looking for something grippy if possible, but that is second on my list to overall protection of course.

They are both grippy. The Defender is just a bit too big to hold comfortably. I guess that's the joy of better protection. Ironically, the Defender is possibly more likely to be dropped, not because it slips from your hand, but because it's likely to snag when you try to take it out of your pocket.
I'm going to stick to the Defender for now, although I will remove the screen protector. I use Liquid Armour on the screen and this pretty much negates the need for a plastic cover on the screen.

I had a commuter on my iphone, and it was dreadful. It didn't fit well, and really didn't feel like it would provide any degree of protection at all. And protection was rather important with all that glass! Binned it after a few days and ended up with a Taktik case (kickstarter thing). But I digress.
Apart from my iphone experience, I would say the Seidio case is better than the Commuter. It will give as much protection, and look and fit better.

Is it pretty thin? Also, is the bumper flush with the case on the back? I had a Belkin one on my games horrible.
Don't have it myself, but heard it scratches and very slippery.
I have this case and it's great. My coworker has the black one and it does scratch quite easily and is noticeable, but I have the white one, so it's not too bad. It's slim and protects the screen well. It's not as nice as the OEM S3 one but it works well and matches nicely.
I currently use the black one. It has a great design because the back is glossy which helps you slide the phone in and out of the pocket with ease and offers protection with minimal bulk. You can also put the screen face down without worry of scratching the screen. The buttons are also covered by the bumber so you dont need to worry about the buttons wearing down from moisture.

Just to let you know, if you don't already, that this is more of a case than a bumper. Everyone keeps throwing around the word bumper. This case does have a back. It is not a bumper in the sense that it only surrounds the sides of the phone.

Yes. Thanks for clarifying in the thread though. I'm going to give it a try and will report back. I'm not a fan of cases in general, but I dropped my last s3 and it was forever scarred with a scrape on the corner of the bezel.
Seems like it would be cool of Samsung made it so you removed the oem back and then attached the bumper case using the clips. Vs adding a second back.

I could have told everyone about the spigen neo hybrid from my experience with their S4 case. It's one of the most overrated cases on the market, I'm not sure why people love it so much.
It looks and feels much cheaper in person than in pics and it makes the phone much bulkier and wider than it needs to be. And it's ridiculously overpriced for what it is.

Cool. What about screen protection??
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
I'm using an iSmooth screen protector. Application was the smoothest of any screen protector I've used so far - but I don't know how much of that is just practice applying them. The screen looks beautiful, with no rainbow patterns, and grease resistance is good (the Spigen ones I used before on my original note, I had a harder time of applying, and both Crystal and Oleophobic ones accumulated grease like nobody's business, particularly the supposedly oleophobic one, and the crystal had slight rainbow patterns visible in the right light).
As for cases, I'm not using one; I don't like the added bulk from them - I instead used Sugru to mold little bumpers directly on the corners of the phone. The corner around the S-Pen is kinda tricky, since there's what looks like a mic on the long side, and very little space between the pen and the speaker on the bottom. I used 3 little pieces of sugru around there. I also put a little bumper below the volume rocker, so I can quickly find the volume buttons when the phone is in my pocket. The sugru comes off cleanly (scrape it off with a fingernail). It lasts pretty well, but it will need to be redone at least once during a two year contract, more if the phone is handled roughly.
Thoughts on the S view case?
I think Im mostly concerned with the glass cracking than anything else...
Right now i am rocking the Incipio DualPro case and am waiting for a case from Cuzerlite to come in.
I got the Tudia Melody and it's perfect. 8 bucks to boot. It adds a nice grip to the phone and covers up the chrome lining on the front. You know the part that looks terrible even with a minor scuff? No screen protection except for the raised edges.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using xda app-developers app
If you want protection and don't mind added bulk the Otterbox Defender is the only way to go. I personally have large hands and prefer the thickness and bulk the Defender adds. Plus you can throw it at a wall and it will not hurt the phone. The built in screen protector is hard plastic and will protect from most surface scratches. Of course direct impacts to the screen will almost always break it on large device like this and there is no case or protector that protects from direct impacts. So for screen protection you just have to take what you can get.
For me the Ottorbox has been the only way to go for my last five phones.

Thinking about going naked. Haven't found a case that keeps it slim. All cases I've tried add too much bulk.
Mine fell out of my shirt pocket on Christmas day and cracked the screen. It was $125 for a new one overnighted from CA. I had ordered a case but it hadn't arrived yet. The screen didn't come with the middle housing so you can see where it hit the ground on the plastic. I'll worry about that when its time to get rid of the phone.

I'm keeping screen naked. Definitely not case. Rather have a tiny bulk than 3 foot drop shatter/crack. Slim/feather doesn't even protect much. I wound up sticking with Verizon TPU/OG Incepio. Better for me my phone travels through some rough times, personal and work lol.
No way, if i didnt had a case mine would be dead right now. It felt From my ear/shoulder position when i was talking and opening my car.

Mine broke completly after falling from about 30 cm, I'm buing case for sure
This phone is too slippery without a case I'm not taking any chances with it. I have the Spigen Slim armor case with Zagg HD screen protector and it looks beautiful and feels great. I ran my G Pro naked but at least that phone was easier to grip since it was larger. To those running no screen protection good luck. It's only a matter of time before it's scratched and scuffed and ugly. The glass screen protector on my G Pro was scratched to hell after just a few weeks in my pocket and I don't stuff anything in the same pocket as my phone except for maybe paper cash or receipts. I babied that phone. My keys never shared the same pocket. I've never seen any screen stand up to regular use after a while without any sort of protection.
I'm using an xtremeguard skin and screen protector. That helps with the slippery back. Not that helpful with actual impacts, but fine for scratches and things.
Side note: use code: 90off2 for 90% off 2 or more items right now (unknown expiration). Two sets of L2 G2 skins and screen protectors comes out to $2.20 after shipping right now.
One month in naked screen. I try and be careful. Not saying it won't happen, but so far so good. I have yet to find olive I like and won't lift with TPU or bubble at edge. :/

Screen seems very weak on this phone already scratched 2 of them. On my third already. No idea how first happened, had the window case on and got one dead center of the screen. Next one was from just flipping the phone over to snooze alarm on my nightstand. Keep trying screen protectors but hate the feel of them and like how this phone feels naked. Prolly gonna have to force myself to keep a screen protector on at least this time and prolly the case.

Using a Fosmon I got off ebay for 3.95. I hated the way this phone felt without a case.
I'm using the Nillkin Dolextech, and while it does not add much bulk, it will protect it from scratches and dents if it lands on a corner or back.
It also has a Nexus 5'ish feel, with a pattern on the back for better grip. It also comes with a screen protector, which while not being the best quality, is fine for protection against scratches.
