Has anyone tried the factory cable for the kindle fire on the kindle fire hd7?
Reading a few posts about bricked devices wondered if the factory cable could help.
The factory cable can be used to put your kindle fire hd into fastboot, which can help you recover if you have a backup.

Yes it does work, I had bricked my KFHD. I was trying to manipulate the frameswork file. But yes, the factory cable did help. I found mine on ebay. Works great!
just out of curiosity, Is the cable only to put the device into fastboot? If a device can be put into fastboot by other means, is the factory cable still needed for the device to talk to adb? Or will the standard cable suffice.

its only to put it into fastboot. Its not to charge nor for use to get into adb.

If you can access adb you can get into fastboot through it:
adb shell
su
reboot boatloader
If you cannot access adb then factory cable is needed.

Hi, I have 2 bricked KFHD's 7" after trying to Root them, I have just received my SKORPN Factory Cable, followed the instructions as sent by the man himself and nothing, any ideas????? I was under the impression that the battery does not need to be charged and that connection would put the Kindles into Fastboot to allow me to flash the devices, I am at a loss as to what to do, i know my ADB drivers are installed correctly as it shows in Device Manager on my PC when I connect my wifes' KFHD.
Please Help - failing my efforts does anyone know of anyone who repairs these devices?

Other than "bricked", what state are the devices in? Better yet...What were the instructions that Skorpn gave you?
Both Kindles are totally unresponsive, have tried previous Factory cables but no use. I bought the SKORPN cable as it has such good reviews and the instructions are as follows, sent with the cable;
1) Turn OFF the Kindle Fire and wait 30 seconds or so, (mine don't even turn on so no problem there).
2) First, plug the USB Micro-B end into the Kindle Fire.
3) Then plug the standard Type-A end into the computer.
4) Profit...
Exactly as typed on the accompanying paperwork.

Totally unresponsive, how? Unresponsive as in...there is nothing on the display and nothing happens when you press the power button? Do you mean that kind of "totally unresponsive"?
Exactly that, nothing happens with the power button pressed, nothing on the screen
Your device is lost, unfortunately. What exactly did you do to it before this happened?
Just tried rooting them, all seemed to be going well until the reboot process and they never turned on again - never mind, off to the bin they go - cheers for your help

Yet another "Kindle fire utility" Victim!
I'll assume you used kindle fire utility since this is the only tool that tries to install a 2nd bootloader along with root (flashing the wrong bootloader is the only thing that causes a device to not even power up), What you need to do now is contact amazon and send it back to them they'll most likely give you a replacement!
Or you can send it to prokennexusa At
Xerocomm, Inc
Attn: Chris Bryant
1684 Northstar Drive
Petaluma, CA 94954
He'll fix it for you and you can always thank him by giving him a small donation!
I bricked my kindle and it's stuck in Kindle Fire system recovery mode. Reboot or reseting doesnt fix the problem.
I've got the factory cable but when I plug it in the Kindle does nothing and my pc doesn't recognise it either.
what do I do now?

Is it not meant to boot the Kindle into Fastboot mode?
I've turned off my kindle and waited 1 minute, plugged the cable into kindle and then computer but it just just gives me the same kindle fire system recovery message

That's likely your problem. You would be better off using Skorpn's factory cables instead.
eBay cables fail all the time. Skorpn cables never fail
Or if you know how to solder, i can tell you how to make one, It's not that hard!
I can vouch for skorpn's cables. Worked perfect and doesn't look like someone made it... better quality than some mass produced cables I've seen!
Hi,
I was trying to be too nerdy, and I deleted all amazon/kindle related apps form /system/apps on my rooted KFHD7"
After which, the device is no longer being recognized by my PC. The device itself became too unstable and so I tried to "reset to factory defaults" ! and hence I lost all the apps that I had installed via google play (included) as well!
At the moment, the device boots up, but has no apps, except an unstable ADW launcher, contact apps and settings. It does not connect to the computer, so I am stuck now. Is there anything that can be done to get the device back to working condition? Does anyone know if fastboot will work, given that the PC doesnt recognize the KFHD7"?
Thanks
Only thing I can think of is fast boot cable, it worked when mine wouldn't even boot up.....red screen...

If anything use the first aide software and restore to stock everything. I had my doubts about fastboot cable but if u keep messing with kindle ur gonna find urself needing one so getting it sooner than that would be perfect.

Like the previous post said your only option is to get a factory cable and flash a backup through fastboot. If you are like me though you may want to know the reason this happened. Well the factory reset on the device only resets the cache and user data partitions of the device, because you are not suppose to have access to change anything else on the device. So anything you changed outside of userdata, ie: system/apps, will stay that way even after a "factory reset". Good luck. After you get yourself a factory cable use fastboot to reflash the system partition, if you do not have a personal backup use the tool from this link:

Thanks guys for your inputs. I went ahead and ordered the factory cable over ebay, followed the fastboot instructions and was able to get into fast boot mode. PC now recognized my KFHD7 as a ADB device under device manager, however adb was not recognizing the device. adb devices always returned a blank line. Not sure why. Tried everything I knew .. restarting device/PC, uninstalling/reinstalling drivers etc .. nothing worked, and adb would not recognize the device at all
Then, I connected the KFHD using a normal USB cable, and all of a sudden, adb recognized the device. I followed the restore procedure using SR Tool.bat over the normal USB cable, and my KFHD is back to life.
Thanks all for your help

Glad to hear you were able to get it working. Just so you know fastboot and adb are separate cmds. The device may have shown up connected as adb device but that was just because fastboot can use the same drivers on this device. The fastboot cmd for device info is:
fastboot -i 0x1949 getvar product
I have a pair of kindle fire hd 7 that are bricked, first one i can get into fastboot with a "factory cable" but the computer does not reconize the kindle.

There's a hundred topics on this if you just use the search engine.
Thanks for that thought, i have looked, I do have the most up to date kindle usb drivers i can get but still can not get windows to reconize the kindle in fastboot, I just want to clairify that the issue with the hd7 that can "fast boot" is that i cant get my computer to reconize it
Plug it in with a normal cable once it's in fastboot, then try my drivers in my signature on the device in the device manager that should say something like tate-pvt or jem-pvt if it is a 8.9" model.

I only stated that because so many times we have posted lengthy responses to this question and it takes a lot to type it all up on a tablet.
You stated you have 2 7" tablets. So stick with Tate.
So in fastboot , that's what you should see, fastboot. You won't see a red triangle and adb will not be recognized. Download the system restore tool here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33156486 follow the OP.
Edit: If a fastest cord does nothing to energize your tablet, that's a hard brick.
Edit 2: Update link to proper one.

The only thing i can get on device manager is "unknown device, no drivers installed"
"Instructions:
1.) Download the version you want to use from the link below and unzip.
2.) Enable fastboot mode. Turn off your device then plug into your pc using a factory cable. If the device is recognized by adb then you can use this command:"

note the red, I Can Not Get It Recognized

What that means is if adb is recognized then you can use a command to get into fastboot with a standard USB. This does not apply to you because you're looking. You want to restore your tablet, I have shown you how to.

I also bought factory cable from ebay seller 'connekt', but results are the same like with ordinary micro usb cable.
Now i want to try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1430038

Ok since that's from the kf1 forum i'm going to say this now, do not bother with the shorting trick as it does not work on the 2nd gen kindles. We would need a signed aboot for that. You are going to need a fastboot adapter to fix it, go for the blackhat one since they are reputable and your ebay one doesn't work. http://shop.teamblackhat.info/Factory-Adapters-motadapt.htm
I thought at first you were attempting to short the usb from the board to get to fastboot but i don't suggest that method as you are liable to short something out if you hit the wrong spot.
Omg, you were right. I just cut 'factory' cable i got from ebay (also cut my finger) and it is just a regular 4 pin micro usb cable.
Haha, i wont try to short usb from the board i already have enough problems Will just order that factory adapter you mentioned.
Thanks for the fast answer
