I don't know if it's just me, but I've been experiencing some insane battery life of my N7. I've gone about 4hrs on battery, wifi on, and battery hasn't dropped even 1%. Anyone experiencing the same?

Without a doubt. Before 4.2, my screen on time topped out at 5 hours. Now I can pull 6 hours.
Sounds off. No change at all in 4 hours? Can't be correct.

YES I am having insane battery life as well. Still 100% and hasnt changed after 3-4 hours. Will keep observing

I noticed the longer battery life also. When a lot of stuff is running sometimes I will use the ES Taskmanager Kill app and when I did that there is more free memory than before and even when a lot of apps are being used there is more free memory than before also.
HOLY. Definitely inaccurate. I notice a small increase in battery life, but nothing that big. I get like 30 minutes extra.

Ok.. Just powered down and powered back up..
Nothing changed.
I won't plugged my n7 til it dies.. See how long it'll last..
It's not strange on a devices with such a big battery to last 4 hours on 100%. Notice how the screen is rarely on?
That seems inaccurate but battery life is definitely better

That's what I was thinking. But since I bought the device, it hasn't done this. This is either a bug or battery life is extremely increased!
On 4.1.2 my battery drops 1% in 16 minutes of the same usage. This is definitely way beyond!
Still monitoring it.
Might as well play a few games to see what happens.
There is definetely a bug with battery readings.. It is likely drop more than normal , once it drops to %99.
Ok. I did a bit of NFS and it brought my battery down to 95%. Now to see if it'll drop normally.
...

I think your battery stats are jammed, I'm not seeing anything like that at best 30 - 40 minutes of extra battery, which is still nice. If your right your device is drawing power from the air around it
I had very simalar resdultsvwhen i flashed the ota url. But i flashed the factyory image the other day to start off fresh and no longer have reults like this. I'm not saying I'm getting bad battery... Far from it. It's just not the same as when i flashed the ota which is strange.

My guess is the update just messed up the battery app like it did everything else.Keep your charger handy so when your tab shuts down and it still shows 100% you can charge it.

I usually have a multimeter on my counter for my ecig mods, and, since I change batteries pretty often now that I have spares for my thrill, I'be been randomly checking thier voltages. What I've found is that a "dead" battery is at ~3.7V. That's not dead. These phones should discharge to something like 3.2V. Anyone have any idea as to why they would read nominal voltage as dead?

After few more charges, it discharges to about 3.43V, still high I think, so I'll keep an eye on it.

What you're saying actually makes sense. The system has to calibrate itself to the battery. This is why battery life tends to improve over time as you discharge and charge the phone. There are ways to kick start the process but eventually it will do it on it's own. My battery life has tripled after a couple weeks.

i am wondering why i have fully charged and discharged my phone numerous times and my battert is horrible. its gotten worse. i unplug it with 100% at 5:30 a.m. its now 9:40 a.m. and im at 62%! i have sent 2 text messages this morning and my app manager has no open apps. Why would my battery be so bad? i have had this phone since the day it came out and love it. im not real familiar with all the "rooting" or all this fancy stuff but i do know that the phone should have a better battery life than it does.
Does anyone know what i should be looking at to see what is killing the battery so fast. almost 40% in 4 hras and i havent even used it?
thanks.

I have installed several ROMS i am new to the LG Thrill but with my previous HTC G2 y used cyanogen but as per this is a 3D phone cyanogen is not ready yet. But the best rom i have tried so far has been the thriller
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1261704
although is missing good things from the newer firmwares like the 3d app converter.
But i'm ussing the thriller Rom until LG releases the Gingerbread official update that comes with great new stuff
Here's what I've found out about the battery. It's apparently a known issue by google addressed in later updates.
Here's a great method to work with it for now.

This mine with 48% battery life left. I found out on mine if you play one of the 3d games and don't exit out of right it continued to run and eat the battery. I use wifi where ever it is available. Always leave it on unless I am on the road then I turn it off so it won't be hunting for a connection. Have gone 28 hours and have 30% battery left.
Had phone since September 4th and battery life has improved tremendously. Stock and unrooted.

Wifi is on but should not be sucking that much juice. i trashed the yahoo news app. my weather app is set to update manually. i dont have anything special done to my ohone like all these forums suggest the "rooting" or special rom's. it pretty stock.
I have used the battery calibrator app and it didnt seem to do anything for me. anybody else have other suggestions? i basically get about 3-4 hrs of battery life berfore having to charge unless i use the phone then i get about 2.
oh yeah and my wife has the same phone, some battery issues but i think her's is normal. so to see if it was the battery or my phone we swapped batteries. my original is in her phone working fine and i have her's and still crappy so i know it wasnt just a bad battery.
what do i do next??
You could install CPU spy from the market and see what it is showing you. See if it ever gets into deep sleep mode. I also use battery monitor widget from the market to see what all is using battery.

I've had relatively poor battery life as well... I went 12 hours with a recharge from 10 to 50% again before it completely drained...
I'm not impressed with the battery on this phone but everything else has been great.
... I'm starting to think I'll have to make my own Qi Charger for pant pockets... embed it in your pocket so whenever the phone is there it's charging. I'm seriously considering trying this to see if it's possible... if so, i'm doing it for sure. Or a carrying case with an extra battery and a Qi Charger... or a Qi charger dock for the car... you get the idea. Wireless charging shouldn't be the fix for poor battery life, but it definitely could help it.

Task managers mess around with Android's memory management and it is fairly well known that they usually end up draining more battery than they save. Try getting rid of it.
Also other people are reporting that the battery life gets better after a few days of using. Is yours really new? Im not sure how true that is btw.
Probably a combination of that task killer and a wake lock.

Install Franco's kernel. Battery life has been outstanding (1 Gmail account sync, 1 Exchange account sync, maybe 30 minutes of calls and 100+ texts a day; I have location services & Google Now enabled as well). I average 3+ hours screen on time and I normally end the day around 30% ...
I would stay away from task managers ... it's not that I know what's going on more than you or anyone else, but well established and respected kernel developers recommend against it. If these guys don't know then I honestly don't know who else does ...

Yep...20-30 minutes won't tell the tale. I'd also recommend Brightness Toggle widget...allows a few extra steps (16 total, IIRC) of brightness control over stock, to fine tune screen brightness, often another culprit.

I'm the opposite. I had the S4 for a week and a half and traded it for the Active a couple of days ago. My battery life has been better than the original. I've got this phone set up the same as I did the s4 too. It probably just varies on what apps you have installed.

The battery life on my Active is far better than any other phone I've owned. I got 5 1/2 hours screen time yesterday with over 16 hours uptime. Still had 15% left when I replaced the battery this morning. Never seen anything like that before.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I537 using xda premium
I had the S4 for a few days and I was worried because my battery would be drained in less than 8 hours. Coming from an S2 that I had to baby to get through the day I was worried. Ever since I exchanged the S4 for the Active I don't really worry about playing games, even for a couple hours, because it easily gets me through the day.
Disable the only big battery drain I had was maps constantly updating my location. I disabled that and run on power saver. I woke up at 6am this morning and its 7:30 now, I still have 59% left. I used to average 22 hours on my old captivate so I guess I'm not doing too bad. I realize that having a phone that out performs most PC's is going to munch some milliamps.
I'm rooted, debloated, and try to avoid constantly updating apps. I use better battery stats to "tune" my usage too.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I537 using Tapatalk 2
I had the phone for a week, and after a few days my battery was draining like crazy (lost 90% overnight with everything off).
I went to the store and got a new battery...so far it's been amazing. I think my back cover may not have been 100% locked in to be honest, not sure if that would affect it or not.
I used to get between 4-5 hours on screen time. Stand by time doesn't mean much. I have noticed that the display is brighter so that could do it.
I also tried the battery from my S4 and same results.
My original battery is on charger. I am going to charge to full and completely drain it and check on screen time and report it.
After I recalibrated the battery it is looking great now. 1 hour on screen time only used 10% battery.
I will keep you posted.
The battery on my active is much better than on my regular s4. The standby time is actually good. My regular s4 always loses about 15% an hour in standby with nothing running.

I never lost hardly any battery at all in stand by with my regular S4.
I also set my GSM battery app to disable apps I don't want to turn on either (ATT Locker, ATT Wifi, etc..)
I am at 13hrs with 30% remaining. I have 2 email accounts, weather, and a network monitor that sync actively. So far, I like this, coming from a note.
I just declocked the cpu today and intend to do some more dabbling.

Hey,
It's been 2 weeks since I got my Black 32Gig Nexus 5, I was a little bit afraid about the battery backup of N5 from reviews, every reviewer pointed out that N5 battery is downright bad but after getting my device I found out that N5 battery is NOT that bad but actually offers good backup :fingers-crossed: , the funny thing is when I charged first time and used my N5 it went down after just 5 hours with SOT of 2 hours !! but what makes me wonder is that after my first charging backup starts to increase !! I don't know why is this happening but battery backup actually increased noticeably day after day, I just don't know how this is happening may be battery is taking time to set up, I know first days we use our device with everything turned on thereby draining battery more than after getting used to but I can confirm that's not the case, backup is actually increasing. I have attached images of my current backup+settings.
Battery Status
Total time on battery : 20 Hours
Screen on time : 5 hours
Settings
Not Rooted.
Brightness: 20%(Approx.), Auto was too bright.
Location : On all the time with Battery saving mode.
WIFI: On all the time
Data: On all the time(HSPDA)
Bluetooth/NFC: Off all the time(I didn't had a chance to use it)
Google Now/ Location reporting : On
Vibration on typing(Key touch): Off (prolly most don't care about this but a big battery drainer)
Usage
30 mins of phone call
30-40 mins of web browsing with Chrome
30 mins of gaming (Temple run and NFS)
20 mins of music
Couple of photos taken
Couple of apps downloaded with playstore etc
I know battery is NOT a pro side of N5 but 20 hours is all I expect from a quad core smartphone !! also backup is really not a dealbreaker for Nexus 5.
My humble small review
Cons (That would go first)
Speaker - This is the biggest problem and a "can be deal breaker" con of N5, I never expected BOOMSOUND from this phone but current ouput is downright bad.
Camera App - Sucks big time, lot of time to focus etc but don't take me wrong image quality is NICE.
A bigger battery would have been better (Not saying current backup is bad)
Button rattling, negligible but shows production carelessness.
IR Blaster would have been nice, It's kinda asking a lot for $350 device it would have been a bigger plus since Kitkat is natively supporting it.
Pros
Everything else than cons about the phone are huge pros

So I'm perfectly happy with battery life, its an improvement over my G'Nex and that's on LTE the entire time.

Normal is relative. Is it a bit on the low side? Most definitely. Normal? Maybe. It really comes down to the apps you have and how you use your phone. I personally get about 5hrs SOT and I'm fine with that. Standby drain is more important to me than SOT. There are battery saving tips and trick you can try to google or youtube.

My phone drains like 3% per hour on IDLE. I don't have AoD nor anything in particular that should be causing this drain. I have no idea why. The battery life seems to be fine for actual usage, but teeeerrible for AOD.

3% per hour no AOD is bad. You have an app causing major drain for sure. You might have to deep dive in your battery stats to find the culprit. Last resort would be safe mode to see if your able to reproduce the issue. You should go to the battery life thread and ask around.

I'm not sure what it could possibly be since my old Note 8 did this too, but it alternated every other cycle or so where it would drain less than 1% or 3%+. I exchanged it for a new one and this issue is happening again except it was completely fine for the first week or two. There was no app that I downloaded between the time that it was fine and not fine.
I guess I'll repost this in the battery thread.
i am not losing battery overnight as much as you guys, my problem now is i can't get 6-7hrs of sot anymore, 4-5 is as much as i get, and it's only 1 month old.
There was a thread about Android OS drain.

I miss my note 4. I use to get around 5-8 sot. With this phone only 3 and half hours. That's with everything turned off too. On my note 4 I had just about everything turned on. Will be waiting for the note 10 to release then I will buy the note 9
