Everything you need is in the all-in-one tool. Even if you don't want to use the tool itself, it has all the zips and fastboot and adb. Everything you need to unlock. Download that tool, and follow the Superguide in the dev thread.

Okay so first of all, I am a noob(I admit it). I recentely wanted to root my Incredible S device. I managed to unlock it's boot loader by the 10 step method on htcdev.com!
I have the HBOOT version 2.00.000 and I need to root it. Please use simplified language and provide the links necessary.
Thanks
Flashing ClockWorkMod and then flashing the latest Superuser should work I think.
Didn't get that
I really didn't get what you just said. Sorry, Could you please tell me how to do that?

The rooting process for an unlocked HTC bootloader is fairly easy if you are comfortable using the Android SDK utilities "adb" and "fastboot".
If you are not comfortable using these apps, then you need to do further research and reading to gain some confidence and comfort level.
The steps are:
1. Install the Android SDK tools.
2. Download ClockworkMod recovery from http://download.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-vivo.img
3. Reboot the phone into FASTBOOT USB mode
4. Flash the ClockworkMod recovery image using the command:
fastboot flash recovery [path to recovery image file]
5. Download the latest su-3.xx.zip
6. Reboot into CWM recovery and flash the su-3.xx.zip file

Yes, look at this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24699433&postcount=9
It has an attachment of a PG32IMG.zip file that contains CWM recovery.
Ok thanks that worked!
Can you give me the link to the new official ICS from HTC?
I want to install it via CWM because I'm s-off

You will not be able to install the Official HTC ICS RUU because you have Revolutionary HBOOT installed.
That is how you got into this position to start with. The Revolutionary HBOOT prevents itself from getting overwritten even by official HTC RUU. Since the new HBOOT didn't get written correctly but all of the other pieces of the RUU did, it will leave you in a state where it hangs on the HTC screen.
At this point if you want to remain S-OFF, then you need to install a custom ROM that can be flashed from CWM recovery.
he can't fastboot boot boot.img it like for s-on?
I've been using stocks with s-on and hboot 1.16 with cwm and its fine, i just need to do the fastboot trick...
There's a flash able zip of the RUU that doesn't care for S-OFF. It's pre rooted and everything.
Sent from my Incredible S using Tapatalk 2
Ok thanks everybody I managed to get everything back to normal. You're the best!

Hello i recently rooted my phone and installed cyangenmod on my htc one m8 and it caused a lot of problems to i switched back to stock Android and i want to go back to stock recovery as well how do i go about doing this? can you please help me?
If you ran the RUU as instructed in your other thread you should already have the stock recovery installed. At any rate you can find the stock recovery in the first post of the link below.

how do i flash the recovery over and btw the phone i have is a sprint htc one m8
I gathered you had a Sprint HTC One M8 since you're posting in this particular forum
Put the recovery img file in your ADB/Fastboot tools folder. Connect your phone and computer via USB cable while in Fastboot mode. The connection should switch to Fastboot USB mode. Type "fastboot flash recovery nameofrecovery.img" (without quotation marks) and hit enter. The stock recovery will be flashed to your device.
You can also use the Flashify app from the Play store to flash the recovery to your phone.

Hello,
in the near future I will try to unlock and root my international HTC One M7. Because I don't have many experiance with rooting (so far I have rooted only one phone (HTC Desire Z) a few years ago) I would apriciate some help and tips.
I have seen some nice video tutorials how to unlock and root HTC M7 on xda website:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one/#root
The only problem is that these videos seems quite old and I don't know if procedure is still the same on newer versions of HTC One software? Currently I am running stock Sense software (Android 4.4.3, Sense version 6.0, Software number: 6.09.401.11)
Please tell me if I can follow these video tutorials to root my One even thou I am running newer software and if not which rooting procedure do you recomend for me?
Thanks in advance!

If you are 100% stock at the moment then wait for the Lollipop update which should come to your phone very very soon, because once you root, the update will fail, due to unlocking the bootloader which resets the phone and also deletes the data / preload folder required to update.
However to root, just unlock your bootloader at HTCDev, during the process it will give you sone ADB and fastboot files, keep these, you will need them, then flash TWRP recovery, enter recovery, exit recovery, it will ask you if you want to root before exiting, say yes, when the phone reboots, open SuperSU to update your binary, done.
Thanks!
One more question. Do I have to toggle S-ON to S-Off if i Want to install costum ROMs and kernel?

no, and never toggle, s-off costs $25 using sunshine s-off tool, and if you decide to go that way, never ever s-on again unless for waranty purposes.

Unlock your bootloader: follow instructions from htcdev.com/bootloader
Flash TWRP recovery:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery <filename>.zip
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Then boot in TWRP and flash the latest supersu zip from TWRP recovery
the twrp recovery downloads as a .img file
:crying:
am I using the correct download, the
C:\Android>fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.0.0.2-m7.img
error: cannot load 'twrp-3.0.0.2-m7.img'

the twrp file (yes its a .img file) must be in the same folder where you have adb.exe and fastboot.exe installed on your computer.
"Error: cannot load" = I can't (fastboot) find the file you're talking about
most probable causes:
File not in the right folder
Typo in the file name
I have been distracted..... it has flashed the twrp img file.
how do I
"3. Then boot in TWRP and flash the latest supersu zip from TWRP recovery"
I have the supersu.zip file saved in the same folder on PC.
thankyou for your time and patience alray

You need to transfer SuperSu.zip to your phone. Then reboot to TWRP recovery and flash the file. Reboot, and you're rooted

Please post the output of "fastboot getvar all" (hide your imei/sn). We need to know your phone information to point you the correct files and instructions. What RUU did you tried and what happened exactly when you tried to flash it?
