i'm love testing roms so when ever i flash a new rom i have to set all apps and stack them into folders(i prefer stacking apps in folders) and this is very difficult when u have more than 400 apps.
is there any app that back'ups the previous appdrawer settings and then restore's it ?
i've read it somewhere that a app is there and it works for samsung launchers.
anyone aware of it ?

Backup data of touchwiz launcher using Titanium Backup then restore it whenever you flash a new TW based ROM.
Go backup..... Their will be an option to backup the launcher layout

Anyone have tried to remove all the TouchWiz bloatware on the Galaxy's stock rom? I refer to interface itself, not only cosmetic effects (I use the ADW launcher, but TW it's still in background and eat resources). If it's possible I am searching to a vanilla rom with only the features of touchwiz (FM Radio, Camera, ecc...) but without the TW interface at all.
Anyone is working about this?
Re:
if u want to get rid of bloatware you have to first root the stock rom
use cf root acc to ur rom ie. jvr jvt jvu or whatever
use titanium backup from play store
u can then uninstall bloat ware
as for touchwiz as far as what I understand from what ur saying u want touchwiz features but don't want the touchwiz launcher ?
use titanium backup and uninstall the launcher application . I think its called tw home or something similar . DO IT AFTER INSTALLING A DIFFERENT HOME APP LIKE ADW ! .
press home key and set ur new launcher like adw as default .
done !
as for rom faryaab's F1 roms are great .
to get rid of the background stuff use auto killer task manager from play store
Read the damn date of that post. Read today's date. And now tell me what you have done.
Which applications (bloatware) can remove safely on stock ROM XXJW4!
if its an app then you can remove it safely

Hi guys
I'm using the amazing rom which called Paranoidandroid 2.12 and when I'm trying to edit and arrange the icons on the menu (not on homescreen) and even creating a new folder it's impossible .. tried using nova & apex launchers and it doesn't work either .. is there any way to do that ?
Thanks,
Moshe
What you are referring to is the App Drawer, not the "menu" (big difference!).
Creating folders and rearranging the program icons within the App Drawer is something that is specific to Samsung's TouchWiz launcher, and as such is something that you can't do in Apex or Nova.
What you can do, however, is set up the top headers to be pseudo-folders. Currently it should say something like "apps" and "downloaded" and "widgets" or similar. With the paid-for Apex Pro (I know Nova does the same, but I am unfamiliar with the launcher and the corresponding process) you can customise those headings. On mine, for example, I have the headers set to "Programs" (I HATE the phrase "Apps"), "Tools" and "Games" with the widgets list disabled.
So, if you are after folders, and can make do with only three folders (the widgets section is redundant as long as you can add a widget to your homescreen with long-press) then you can do that with Apex Pro.
Unfortunately, there USED to be a thread in the apps section for the JB GSIII Touchwiz launcher for CyanogenMod 10, but for some reason I can't find it anymore to link it to you...
so, arranging the icons on the menu like on ics (not on the homescreen) not available on jb ?

you still mean the App drawer, not the menu! The menu is the text list that appears when you press the left capacitive button on the phone or the three dots in apps. The App Drawer is the full list of all programs you have installed on your phone with icons. The two are very different, please refer to the correct thing as it's very confusing otherwise!
anyway, as luck would have it, I've found the thread for Touchwiz on CM10: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1854826
If you install this then you will be able to do everything that you remember and require from stock Galaxy Note ROMs including folders in the app drawer.
As another clarification for you, ICS and JB are not the problem for you. When you say ICS you mean the stock Samsung Galaxy Note ICS Touchwiz based ROM, and when you say JB you mean Paranoid Android 2.12 CyanogenMod 10 based ROM. Those last bits are crucial. Apex runs on ICS just find and you still can't do the folder thing that you want to do with Apex on ICS. Only Touchwiz - regardless of Android version - can do the folders and rearranging of icons in the app drawer.

I didnt try that launcher but i think thats not a bug
In touchwiz, when you change the wallpaper, you need to select whether to scroll or not to scroll

can't find the option to enable that ..
When you select a wallpaper, you will see two modes below the wallpaper(normally we get it in the tw).If you can see that, select the first one and you get scrollable wallpaper

Hello peoples,
[hope i am in the right section now?]
I love android but hate having to restore widgets over and over again (i flash a lot of different kernels and roms). Up till now i have never found a way to backup and restore the widgets in there former glory (location/size/settings). I use Titanium backup/restore but i found that only a nandroid restore really restores everything (and that is not something i can use when trying out new kernels and roms)
Am i missing something? (an app for instance that will really save position and settings of a widget? Or is it just a know shortcoming in android? I have used almost every launcher around but none of them restore widget (position/size/setting)
Can someone link me to some wisdom?
ps: i understa...alvik VM that hosts the widget position/size?
66 views so far but no response...? Anybody?
Cause no one knows even me but I believe if you copy launcher data using tb and restore it although I didn't try but let me guess that it works

I think this because of the launcher. If you use Apex for example and you make a backup via the app all the settings will be saved on to SD card. If you want to use another launcher with the same widgets you'll need to replace them since the data cant be restored from apex etc. Some apps can import settings from others but this will be said by the app it self.
Like i said, it depens on the launcher. Perhaps to ask one of the developers of the launcher for more information.

Good advice. So i guess i have been obstructing myself by changing launchers on weekly bases.
where is the lockscreen file of a rom?and whats its name?
and the wallpapers of the rom?
hi
been searching for this and didnt find
tried mybackup pro, titanium, never found a way to restore just the widgets
im on LSZ rom 4.1.2
any way to do it ???
thx
Widgets depends upon your launcher. You need to backup your launcher using TB. But you can't restore the TW launcher app as it is system app but try restoring just the data from TB.
Better, use third party Launcher from market set your home screen widgets and backup using TB and when trying other ROMs just restore app and data.

i tried with titanium backup, it restores all the icons, but never the widgets
and i kindda like TW so using it, not other launchers
ok got it ....
ok well, been reading here and there and found that NOVA launcher is quite good and still uses the TW features like the S pen and Air View
and can backup and restore the android screens and widgets, so its a good solution
just upgraded to JON 7 rom and got back everything like it was
thx
About 3 months ago, in a previous version of android and sense, sense widgets was available in other launchers like, apex launcher, go launcher.
Is that possible make a mod to make it happen again?
Thanks!
If I remember correctly this was looked into and deemed impossible.

You have to downgrade your rom that has this possibility. Place all your needed widget's on your favourite launcher. Then make a data nandroid backup. Upgrade your rom, reboot and then go back to your recovery and restore data partition. It worked for me!

I understand
But what about positions and etc?
It can be repositioned? removed? and readded?
Or it should be intact?

Resize, reposition is no problem, but if you delete it, it cannot be readded
