Non-Rooted JB ROM - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
Can anyone point me in the direction of a Jelly Bean ROM that is not rooted? I have no need to be rooted and my banking software will not run on a rooted ROM.
Thanks

There's no official firmware yet. You can grab the leak in http://www.sammobile.com and flash it in Odin PC.

Thanks, was CyanogenMod not moving towards a non-root by standard with the option to root if you need to? Is the CM10 ROM rooted by default?

All custom roms comes rooted by default
You can unroot any rom if u wish

go to http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&model=GT-N7000&pcode=-1&os=1&type=1#firmware and select your desired firmware, flash with odin

What rom that you use now?? is it rooted?? if yes..simply go to SuperSU app and click on Full unroot under setting option..easy:good:

Currently on stock ICS. The reason I'm hesitant to install a rooted ROM and then unroot it is because I always had my HTC Hero on the latest rooted ROM (GB at the time) and when my bank released their app, try as I might to hide root or unroot I couldn't get past the message 'your phone is rooted, you cannot run this app'.
Why say you do you want to root then? Because I want JB :cyclops:

if you want jb, the there is a xxls2 unrooted in sammobile which can be installed via pc odin. just don't do any wipes on stock kernel as we don't know if it's 100 pct safe. but it's the unrooted jb rom, lacks features of multi windows. but you will have jb experience

That is very very easy.
You can flash LSA from SAMFIRMWARE or you can flash any JB rom and then..
Just open SuperSU and thengo to Options and then Full unroot...
Simple!

Problem is you are still running Eclair?, Update your ROM to Gingerbread for it to function better with latest apps
but IF you must have only Eclair and want to root it, you can try various rooting tools found at Collections for Android link on my signature

Im on Eclair, but I dont want it anymore, I want to have the new Jelly bean, but cant have acess to root, neither rom manager neither CWM, so cant install nothing by that way... as I tried severals updated.zip and no one can work...
I was thinking, only if I flashed some ROM through ODIN3, like for example:
- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1326416 as that is possible to flash over odin, and then i can flash some ROM with Jelly Bean through Clockworkmod...
Is that the best way?
It would work if I flash that ROM using ODIN, on top of Eclair 2.1?
Need some help here ^^
EDIT: Just saw that on your sig and in your post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11113557&postcount=1
If I do all those steps, can I install that Rom without any problems?
Even I haven´t root yet? =\

Yes, you need to use ODIN3 to Flash the ROM, since your goal is Jelly Bean, you need to be on Original Gingerbread First, to do that go here and select the Firmware according to your location http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1102881 ..Follow Flashing guide to the dot
Than go here and install a semaphore kernel, which will give you root and CWM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1112908
after that you need to visit the Jelly Bean Developers thread of your choosing and follow their guide to install Jelly Bean ( BUT be aware Jelly Bean is NOT fully Stable yet)
Darky's Resurrection ROM is for those who are having problems , yours is Just a Normal upgrade, so best use latest Original Firmware, First

Yes, you don't need root for flashing, kernel are flashed same way as flashing ROM's, put the kernel in PDA ( don't tick anything) and press start in odin

You should look under Europe, the latest is JW7 but the CSC is only one, so better use JW5, with Multi CSC

Rooted SGN with ICS and mobile banking app

Hi there,
Stock ROM (LRK) with Notecore V14 kernel. Barclays mobile banking aplication does not work on rooted phones so I want to unroot it.
Used the batch script from THIS POST to unroot it, works as it should but my phone is still rooted.
Flashed stock LRK kernel but still this same, root remain and not able to use banking app.
How can I properly unroot my Note to have this app working again?
Is there any other way than flashing LRK rom again to bring my note back to stock condition?
cheers

[Q] ICS rooted - OTA/KIES JB update

Hi
The wife's Note is presently on stock rooted ICS running a custom kernel (can't remember which one of the top of my head). I want to update it to JB, but want to go down the path of least resistance (i.e. avoiding having to reinstall all the apps, etc).
I guess the first question is, can I update via OTA or KIES?
I presume if I update via OTA or KIES (I have an updated rom notification on OTA) I will loose root (even if I use OTA Rootkeeper?) and the custom kernel (reverting back to stock kernel).
FYI - not really fussed about re-rooting as wife doesn't really need to seem to need a rooted phone.
Thanks in advance!
If rooted with a custom kernel the OTA updates won't work.
Make a complete backup in recovery of the note
and
download one of the no-wipe, rooted Custom Roms and install it.
Thanks. I think I may do a total unrooted of stock JB.

Not really necessary. I repeat. Make a backup and use a no-wipe JB Custom Rom (like my own) and try with this.
Hi
Just a quick follow up, can I flash stock JB via Odin rather than Kies and avoid a wipe?
Thinking Odin, as am having problems with Kies recognising the phone (MTP error).
Flash the JB with PC Odin.

[Q] Updating rooted 2.2 to Jellybean?

I've been reading through the forums, but I can't find how to update my rooted Captivate with 2.2 to jellybean. I haven't use kies because I'm afraid of bricking because it is rooted.
Is there a link to upgrade to jellybean and then root it? Or a step by step on what to do from here to ??
Thanks in advance.
Sorry for a noob question

You could progress from that by installing ROM Manager, installing CWM, then installing what ever ROM you like. Odining back to stock isn't required, but you can do it if you want. Personally:
Odin back to a GB rom with Bootloader from : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1300843
Grab Corn Kernel or something for that version with CWM, Odin that.
Boot into CWM, flash whatever ROM you like.

[Q] gingerbread stuck

I bought a s advance from oman(asian arab country) it is on gingerbread and when i check for updates no update is being shown? Are there other models of s advance with no update from gingerbread? If so the rooting and flashing rom procedure are same or different?

Hi there.
1. It's necessary to note that samsul not do the update again on device S Advance through direct ota for those who still use the stock Gingerbread (GB). While still using the stock GB I once never get a firmware update but only minor updates. BUT you can to do firmware updates manually, by downloading firmaware directly from some of the sites that provide specific firmware for your country, such as: sammobile*com, samsung-updates*com.
Note: I assume if you expect an update to a firmaware. But if you run into problems updates an application from playstore, then I suggest you to do a wipe applications through: settings - application - select playstore and wipe data. Then try reboot. But if it still doesn't work then, try to wipe data / factory reset through default recovery.
2. If you still want to use the stock GB and want to root your device, then you can follow a guide on the thread here. You can try some of the menu that is available there may exist that are suitable for firmware are you using now. Honestly I never tried it.
3. For flashing method is the same on every device model samsung, using Odin application. For the method of rooting the device janice as far as I know have several methods, depending on which firmware you use now. If you are using firmware Stock GB then you can follow the above method. But if you use the stock firmware Jelly Bean (JB) then you can use the method on a thread here.
Hopefully it helps & Good luck.
So the matching firmware i download i can flash it using odin without needing root or anything?and if i dont update and root gingerbread, can install cm11 from gingerbread?
The end result im looking for is cm11 running on my device. Your help is much appreciated

I cant find the exact firmware for my country. Will flashing other countries firmware brick my device?
