does anyone know if we will ever be able to load custom roms onto the kindle fire hd? Is the locked bootloader hold it back from happening? I'm really getting tired of amazons custom ui :crying:

After rooting my phone and after using it fire about a week something weird happened to my phone, on Sunday the phone restart it itself and when it booted up the phone was stock on the Samsung screen after the metro pcs boot animation. I took out the battery several times but to no avail. It was dead. I finally took it to metro yesterday and they have me a brand new one. I'm more sure if i will root it again though.

Setting phones on fire usually kills them.
Did you try CPR on it? Check if it still has a heart beat.
This is murder!

If your looking at this thread THANK YOU.
So I am by no means dev, i just have had a lot of android devices and have experienced flashing addiction like the rest of us on here. But my question is, is it possible to load a new recovery with the locked bootloader. If this is a newb type question, sorry but I've never really known. And bundled into this question, my photon has had the ability to use stock based roms without unlocking the bootloader. I know that the photon is a tegra 2 device, but does omap work the same way? I o appreciate any answers.

anything not signed by amazon will give the device problems. So no at the moment.
Sorry for such a noob question, but I'm wondering if I should be worried of bricking my KF2 running CM 10.1? It's just that this build is not yet that stable and I don't have a factory cable if ever I mess up during my tinkering.

The build is stable... it's just not complete, and it's not going to brick itself out of the blue, just if you screw up, don't blame us.

1. Get a cable (mines on the way)
2. Read EVERYTHING in the dev section... trust me. Especially fmkilo's posts.

Yep. Have been very careful since getting my KF2 (my 1st android device). Successfully rooted, prevented Amazon updates, and now transformed to CM without a hitch. I 'm just a little worried because I'm in a remote work place (in the middle of the sea literally), and it's impossible to acquire a fb cable (and pretty much anything). I have been reading people getting their KF's bricked when moving FROM stock OS. But now I'm on CM I guess I can breath a little easier.
I've been following pp45's custom ROMS. I don't have to worry getting into a boot loop while updating ROMS, or do I?

Flashing ROM's is one of the Main causes of bootloops. I would suggest waiting for a couple of days after the ROM has been released to see what issues there are before you try.

I have been trying to play plants vs zombies 2 but it crashes very often and I rarely get into the have to actually pay it. I did some research and round a fix but now this keeps happening and I think it may be the problem.
Any solutions would be great

Did you install a custom kernel like elementalx or teamseven? PVZ 2 doesn't work on custom kernels. If you want to play it, I suggest going back to stock kernel.
Yeah I did, is there no way of fixing it apart from that?

How do I go back to stock kernel? Do I have to write my phone and reinstall custom rom or start again from scratch?

Just reflash your custom rom. No need to wipe or anything. Hope this helps
Is is possible at all? I want to get cynogenmod from here
Not yet... If we ever bypass the boot loader. Or are able to write to the boot loader it'd be out tomorrow.
But for now we can only flash signed files.

So If I cant stand touch wiz and I'm still with-in the 14 day period should I take back my phone for a ???(advice on a phone) or do you think this might happen with-in some time period? Sorry I haven't had an android since the hero lmfao
Go into development and look at safe strap specifically though the xnote ROM
I am betting sooner or later someone will find a way to create a second boot loader... But yeah no promises.

There's no say on how soon we will get things like CyanogenMod yet. It was hard to pick out when things like SafeStrap would come out to flash somewhat custom ROMs. You can get an unlocked Note 3 and them activate it with AT&T. That will support Cyanogen before the AT&T Note 3 will I believe.
Return your at&t note 3 and get the t mobile one. Unlocked boot loader. You can flash anything you want on that one and it works on at&t after you root it and use regionlock away by chainfire
