Recommend a Good Benchmark App For Gaming? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Trying as many roms as I can get my hands on, looking for best 3d gaming speed and an acceptable UI ...
What is a good program for benchmarking? I know a lot of apps aren't supposed to be a reliable way to see how a rom will perform under actual gaming conditions so I was hoping to get your recommendations ...
Which app have you used for benchmarking and was it worthwhile?

i dont know any app to benchmark 3d performance specifically..
i just use antutu and quadrant since they both include 3d and 2d benchmark...

I know two of em !! give it a try !!
1) GL Benchmark !! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.glbenchmark.glbenchmark25&feature=search_result
Try different benchmark tests in this app coz this app truly lets u know what ur device is capable of OR Where it stands in terms of performance !!
2) Quadrant !! https://play.google.com/store/apps/...mFzb2Z0d29ya3MucXVhZHJhbnQudWkuc3RhbmRhcmQiXQ..
Nt so good but give it a try !!
Definitely try GL Benchmark ........ itz will definitely help Btw which rom and kernel are u on ??

Sorry I didn't see your response until now.
I go back and forth between latest jb leak and CM10 ... for CM10 I'm on an older OC Hydracore 4.something, the jb leaks I just use the kernel that comes with them. In my experience so far a stripped down CM10 based rom is the fastest thing available.

CM10 uses the latest Mali drivers whereas jb leaks use phillz kernel. You'll get a lot more performance out of latest Mali drivers.

which one is the bes Stock rom for gaming?

hi friendz..
can any one tell me which one is the best STOCK ROM for gaming(games like nfs, dead space...etc hd games..)
im using gingerDX v028 now but the dead space game in closing after sometime :crying::crying:
plzzzzz tell me mates....
For those games u mentioned : none of them
Playing those games with custom kernel & popular performance ROMs is a pain.(nearly impossible)
Now consider playing them with stock kernel under the hood.
Is it important how did i send this?
I'm not playing games so much, but you can try my ROM MV3,but it isn't uploaded yet. I think it's great for gaming!

He means Stock 2.1.1. Eclair rom is the best for gaming.
+ 1 to that. I also used a long time stock 2.1.1.C.0.0., enable everything using x8toolbox (it becomes almost like matej's rom) and do not forget to update Busybox to the latest, and SU to 3.1. Surprisingly, stock rom is the only one to support busybox bigger, like 19. The other roms still use old version and they brick if you try to update.
But still, there is another Rom with very good behaviour, and I think slightly better than stock in gaming, even I did not try all games: FroyoPro by Irakkarl. It scores better in Antutu as well, even if 2d is smaller, but the 3d values are close to 500 which is great.

Yeah that changes everything. But that won't chang the nature of our device... playing DEAD Space in x8?
No multi touch (not cypress)
Adreno 200
256 MB RAM
max 825 mhz armv6
3.0 inch display
That doesn't make sense 4 me

yup, you would be right, but the issue here I think is a bit diferent (angle): is it working?
DEADSPACE runs in stock and also FroyoPro. All GB roms that I have tried FC. So at least it works. and that's stock [email protected], no OC...

I had everything installed by x8toolbox, including busybox 1.19.4 and dual recovery and it worked on stock....see that also new update for 1.20., did not try yet.

[Q] Best Kernel for ICS Based Incredible S

Hi. If the same thread is already exists, please forgive me. Been trying to find similar thread for about 3-4 pages here, but none found.
If no, well, can anyone here suggest the best kernel for ICS based ROM for our IncS in term of performance and battery life. Thanks in advance.
XS-ICS.
What's the benefit of this kernel over another? I am sorry I am also new to this. If you can just provide some high level overview

Hi. From my point of view, each kernel has it's own advantages and disadvantages in terms of performance, battery life and etc. For custom kernel like X2 ICS (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1851121), you can overclock your IncS to higher CPU speed but PLEASE bare in mind, even though our device is the same, but that doesn't mean the optimized value to overclock is the same. My suggestion, please look carefully for pro n cons for each kernel in the forum because some kernel is not supported for certain ROMs. For me, I just flashed ICS Sense G11 v2.0.1 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1887379) and it went smoothly with my Android Revolution HD 3.01 ROM.
I have used a couple of custom ICS ROMs (Nik's and IceCold) and I find that the following gives the best choice of governors, clocking variability and battery life.
Choosing the right governor and clock speed will of course impact on your performance.
Also recommend XS ICS 2.2... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1851121

Hi...
Im using Slim Bean v7 and its very good!
Gamerzrom v4 best for gaming and multitasking but battery drains kinda fast, currenty im using ParanoidAndroid 3.69 latest and at 3 days of testing it looks amazing good battery, with alot of options, also its good for gaming
my recommendations
Hi!
Have tried many ROMS(including Slim, CM, GamerzROM) and at this moment I have only few favorites:
Supernexus - clean AOSP ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2219235
MokeeOS - has a lot of features and very fast(I wondered how )
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2352448
GearKernel tastes good with ROMs listed above
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2330446
[jOP40D] OFICIAL ANDROID 4.2.1 <RC2> (JB) GALAXY NEXUS STOCK ROM by ELITEMOVIL - old but good one
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2004906
CM 10.2 - testing it on my old i9000 and it feels like fast and stable with good memory management.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2385178
Listed ROMs gave me about 4000 or better in Antutu Benchmark.
Hope this is helpful.
Also recommend to set "Background process limit" to 2 or 3 in Developer options
thx for suggestions.im tryin gamerzrom v4 now,but battery drains a lil fast.performance is good on app's but still tempe run 2 is laggy.i think facebook-twitter-vine-foursquare-gmail-outlook-google maps causes.but it is a smart phone i cant use phone without these app's also i cant play games :/

I tried hellybean once again. I had been using cm7.2 and cm10.1 nightlies until 20130723 build was released. this is the best release of the devilkernel and hellybean in a long while. This is probably because cm10.1 is pretty darn stable right now.
Anyways, with hellybean you need the devil kernel manager app to configure it properly. You can also use nstools to undervolt, but it's alright even if you don't.
It's basically cm10.1 but you get the devilkernel and the xposed framework with the rom. You'll have to install the gapps for android 4.2 separately.
http://hellybean.com/I900042.html
It's really a great kernel (right now, semaphore is good too), and the 20130723 release is great. Battery is decent, performance is flawless if you tweak it. Use the dkm app and also enter Systemsettings -> System -> Find "Build.prop Mods" -> set wifi scan interval to 150, pm sleep to "power collapse", dalvik cache to 48m and enable gpu acceleration at the bottom. These tweaks might be "placebo/sugarpills" but it shouldn't cause problems. You can check "optimize tcp stack" too, not that I notice the difference really.
In DKM app, you could set ram setting to "XL", enable zram and set zramsize to 150. on the cpu tab, use smartassv2 governor with the powersave profile, or normal difference is negligable. Enable deep idle if you want. next page, enable fast charge if you know to disable it when you want to transfer files over usb. On the misc tab, make sure bluetooth kill is on, fsync control is off and dynamic fsync is on. Smooth ui should be on if you feel it's laggy otherwise.
That's how I've configured it for now. I don't think I'll upgrade hellybean for a while, that usually leads to unstability and/or performance loss.
ThinkingBridge ROM
ROM: ThinkingBridge ROM Stable-1
Theme it with : SGS IV - TW + AccuWeather S4
Mod with: Fly-On Mod
And finally install Greenify for better RAM management.
And you are good for a very long time!!

Hi guys great topic, i'm deeply interested.
A friend of mine gave me her i9000 to "repair" because it was laggy as hell.
I tried few roms last week with her criterions :
Not laggy for common tasks (almost no gaming) even with few widgets on home screen
Good battery life is a plus
I first tried some JB rom (C-Rom, SuperNexus) great experience but they were laggy as hell with few apps installed (i had about 5sec lag between each action). I see that you guys recomment hellybean, would you feel that the smoothness would be better?
I did'nt try ICS roms as i see in the dev section that most of them are abandonned.
I finally tried a GB (JWB), the smoothness is better but i experience big lags on the calling apps (remake all my call multiple times when i finished it...). I guess the best option would be the GB smoothness without this laggy call app.
What would be your recommendations? more searching in the JB roms (hellybean etc.)? or trying CM7, or other GB stocks?
thanks in advance for your recommendations,
CM7 is great in performance - fastest ROM i've tried for i9000, but if no new features needed.
Using CM 10.2 for about a week and it feels good and have some battery-friendly features.
Better to make full wipe before installing any of 4+ roms
Thanks, my todo list is now:
RemICS
HellyBean
carbon rom(unofficial by aways) + devil kernel
SlimBean
Any other suggestion?

[L7] Performance

Yesterday i managed to Root, Flash v20 Baseband , Flash CM11 & flash these gapps :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2397942
The problem is that i didnt see any performance boost or stability ..it lags more than stock.
even Antutu score decreased by 50-100. ( Before CM11 Was 4056 , i see also people claim to hit 4500+ on other threads )
Maybe its ram? i dont know because i didnt checked the proccesses before.
There are many apps run in background without even running them and i cant greenify them cause they are stock apps and i ned paid version.
,Google+ , Google Search , Google Services , Settings , DSP Manager etc.
what do you guys do in order to boost the performance? iam sure there are plenty things to do except fake app boosters, ram cleaners etc.

Cm11 still work in progress. Still a long way to go.
Have you change the processor speed, governor, io sched, etc? If not, try to install performance control.
If still not satisfied, downgrade to cm10.1 or cm10.2. They said its much stable but still some little bugs. Or try slimbean 4.0.1, the most stable of all custom rooms but but maintained anymore.
Then you can also try stock simple blue by snx ics but modified by szymel0, got good feedback from users. Or maybe stock v20 rom by szymel0, its also good.
To be honest with you, theres not much we can do on this phone because of the low specs. But still it can still be use as phone as long as you dont expect much.

The stability, speed and all things depends on the person..
how do u define stable or fast? which can be only concluded by trying out too many roms suitable for u..
So, answering to your question according to me fast n stable roms which i have used are
1) Xperia Soul engine Cossmoss and Forrox,
2)GingerDXv31b.
3)PrimeHD.
4)Jellybread. ( quite ok)
Try out these roms ..m sure one of these roms will definitly fit into your stability and speed

verry well said sir . . that's right
Stock android 2.1 is the best android for Xperia X8 for daily use ;D
As for me, JBMP is very fast and stable
I suggest to use Optimus Nexus Me v6 with nAa 14 kernel + Pure Performance addon. It's very fast
Practically speaking
There is no stable or best ROM or Kernel
It depends on your usage.
Ne ways
For daily use
Try GB - MiniCM 7, GDX
Jellybean is also nice and stable- JB MINI, MINI CM10
Kernel depends on ROM
