[Q] Strange errors - Samsung Galaxy Mini

Hi all,
Recently a colleague have given me a Galaxy mini plus.
the fact is that my colleague has been testing the phone and flash it. He touched something he should not.
The thing is, all works fine (apparently) but when you make a call automatically hangs up the phone without without call tone.
Does anyone know what this can be?.
Thanks
Edit: I think what is happens, I'm following this manual for unlocking (SIM): w w w.droidforums.net/forum/hacking-help/167546-tutorial-unlock-sim-network-samsung-galaxy-mini-gt-s5570.html
and I see that when it comes to pass: # mkdir / efs
It says: mkdir failed for / efs, File exists
From what I gather he tried to unlock but something went wrong

it can be that he tried unlocking it and the imei may got corrupted
ask him about the backup of efs
one more thing is try checking imei by *#06# if it is normal nothing to worry everything can be corrected

We are talking about a guy that has broken his phone doing changes without having any idea. I'm sure that he does not have any backup.
:laugh::laugh::laugh:
But the Imei looks good. I have pressed the numer secuence and in the screen appears a long number that begins by 35....

OK so imei is OK which is very good
next try to use that sim in other mobile

Yes I tried it, this SIM in other phone work without problem,
Any SIM that you put inside the galaxy mini, does not work

it can be a hardware fault

I'm trying to avoid it, because it's probably the cost of repair is greater than the value of the phone now

Kabooot - it looks like your /efs folder is corrupt. If you have made a backup of that folder, you can try restoring it. There are some pointers on this thread.

If following all that stuff from the link does not work (I hope it does!), then you might try to flash a firmware with Odin, and select the option "Phone EFS Clear".
NOTE: I am not entirely sure this is safe!
But when I had the EXACT same problem you are having, I reflashed my phone like 20 times with many different firmwares, and a few times I selected that option. Then one time... just randomly... my phone started working, and I even got back my original IMEI and stuff.

I think he is a young kid & may not have a lot of experience/patience of many of us here, I think some patient soul here can guide him to flash an official ROM over Kies. I think Kies can see the phone in download mode & can update the firmware.

Corrupted /efs . If you didn't make a backup of it, you can't do anything to repair it. Your phone is now like an MP4 player.

then I will take you to imagine me sat there if you can repair or not?and if someone with another mini me pass that backup could be repaired?
I already said this in an similar thread: I doubt it can be done, since every /efs partition on every device is unique. If you find a way to back it up from the working Mini without screwing it up, let me know .
I did some research on the Internet and tutorials for SGS and SGSII do not work for our device. I can't seem to find where the nvdata.bin file is (which is the most crucial, and contains imei and bunch of other very delicate and important stuff).
Note that changing the IMEI is illegal, and also, having two Mini's with the same IMEI won't work.

[Q] IMEI gone to generic...

Yesterday I flashed the JB rom by Crash (oh, ze irony). It worked for an hour, but then it rebooted and hung at the Samsung logo at boot. When going in to CWM i saw that the /efs could not be found, and I dont have a backup of my efs folder.
After trying nearly everything today, i cant seem to get my own IMEI back. First it was empty, now its the generic one (0049****). Currently im back on GB because i cant get on my mobile network with ICS or JB with the generic IMEI.
I tried most of the tutorials to get it back, tried the GSII_Repair tool, none of them seem to work.
I also tried the .nv/.nv.bak removal/backupping/replacing, but that doesnt seem to help either. Problem in some tutorials is that i have to move the imei folder and the .nv_data file, both of which are not present in my /efs folder.
Can anyone help me out? The phone runs stable and fine now under GB (with the generic IMEI it can work with GB apparently), but i would really like to go to ICS again
You can use (I have a developer IMEI and I use this workaroung right now.) it with ICS or JB. After a reboot you have to change the pin number. After this you'll get your network connection. That was one reason why I used GB a long time - but today I switched to JB (eybee) and had to use this way.

I dont think i really understand you. Under ICS i cant use it, because my network doesnt allow me to sign on. Under GB it does, but id rather just have ICS or JB and my own IMEI...
if you didnt make efs backup your screwed. And no nandroid doesnt back it up. No titanium backup also doesnt.
You need samsung to fix it for you, or get someone, cvxcvx, to that, if you can prove the phone is yours...
you learned the hard way.
I really think all rom makers should have in their first post a line that says back dafuq efs up first.
Anyway, the 49 is not developers, it is test emei, and yea its banned in some countries so if, like in Uk they decide to update banned imei list, you wil lose service.

[Q] I9305 stay on logo , problem with mount EFS. How to repair it?

Hello everyone
I've got problem with my I9305 lte. I bought it from my friend. It was working fine till my friend try to root phone with software dedicated to i9300. Galaxy right now stay on logo , goes in recovery mode and download mode. In a photo you can see cause of this thread.
I tried to flash oryginal software by Odin. Everything looks fine. Odin doesn't see any error. Galaxy still stay on logo with red error in recovery mode. I don't have backup with EFS folder... If it help i9305 is from vadofone Germany.
Could anyone help me ?
RIP, motherboard replacement is needed now
Does anyone have more positive idea ? Phone is like new , near 2 mounths of use...
Motherboard replacement....
Is that more positive??
And next time, read everything you can before you stuff around with something! Damn, the first thing I did was backup my efs folder :banghead:
I found this. I'll try it tommorow when I'll come back home. : alliance-rom.com/community/wiki/imei/
I was looking for motherboard for i9305 on ebay etc. but there is nothing...
So you have no backup of the efs folder, a phone that won't boot properly, and you obviously didn't read your link properly either.
Good luck, enjoy buying a new phone

I should begin with explaining my problem first.
The phone would not boot, charge or show any signs of life.
I had another S3, so i swapped the battery over and to my surprise it came on.
Luckily i could boot into download mode.
Moving onto how i sorted it.
First i went here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=33048706&postcount=1
and downloaded, extracted and flashed the Param_Bin_I9305.zip .
I then went here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2023527
and flashed all 3 sections (phone/pda/csc)
and hey presto all was sorted.
Hope this helps and if i can be of any more help or i have omitted something please ask

Thanks for the quick reply mate. Will this work on my International GTi9300 do you know? Sorry I should have said that earlier. I've had all previous versions of the Galaxy models and never got a problem like this.
One guy above says a new motherboard is the only option, I left mine in for repair and because the custom binary was at 2 the warranty was Void. So they quoted me €150 just today. I can't afford that at the moment. But after so many searches here on XDA, it seems some people with the same issue as myself have managed to fix it. Thats why i am a bit sceptical, because I have my EFS folder backed up. Maybe it might work.
I should have my phone back on Monday so if you think this will work on mine I will give it a go and let you know?
Really appreciate the help.
Sorry to hear about your problem.
I did this on a I9305 which is very different to the standard I9300.
These files and methods i used are **ONLY FOR THE I9305***
The only reason i had the problem in the first place is that i flashed I9300 software onto a I9305.
Sorry i cant be of any more help but i am sure if you head over to the i9300 q+a section, someone is bound to know what you should do.
PM me with your exact issue and what you messed up on and i will try and see if i can find some helpful info

Help Recover IMEI

Hi everybody i need some help
I was installing Lollipop in my S5 Mini (SM-G800H) after a success process, I got the message "Insert Sim Card" and after some research I realize that my IMEI was gone.
I have followed many tutorials but none works, I'm not an expert user and I need help.
I tried the "EFS Professional" program and one "EFS-backup.bat" but none have worked for me. I read something enter the menu "* # 0011 #" but I can not enter the menu to follow the steps of the tutorial.
I really need help I hope that any of you know how to solve the IMEI null.
Maybe someone can upload your EFS folder and use it to get my imei?
I'll be very greatful.

I was thinking if you can pass me your EFS folder (if you have the nv_data files that contains the IMEI) and then use some hex editor(I tried but I dont have those files) and change the IMEI by the mine
