Galaxy s2 and s3 have all put their hands on the new 4.1.2 beta, waiting anxiously now for my i9305 international version. anyone has update on this? :fingers-crossed:
Doubt this will happen, they are just too different from what I remember in prior discussions.
We should have something pretty soon for our phones tbh.
On another note, I have been using it on my 9300 for a few days and it seems a great improvent, it is good on battery, there are lots of little improvements including the Samsung Keyboard where the word appears automatically as you type. Multi WIndow is great although not sure how much I will use it, still it is there if I want it!
Really looking forward to 4.1.2 coming over to the 9305.
I have played around with it. The only issue I am having is with the baseband and imei not being detected. Have tried a few things to fix it but am stuck at the moment with what else to try. Other than that it boots, has root and everything else works.

Chiming in here to say that I have been working on this too. But you knew that from our discussions via PM.
I am wondering if we might be able to get the ball rolling further on this for our devices. There are considerable differences between these devices but that shouldn't stop us.:fingers-crossed:
On another note I am thinking the AOSP is the secret to bringing more popularity to this device seems alot of people are waiting for this and keep asking for this,,, So i am thinking of porting an AOSP rom for fun and chucking it in for a variety
mmm not sure about that, I think the new 4.1.2 features outweigh a AOSP release; MultiWindow probably beign the biggest so as soon as 4.1.2 hits here I think there will be some very happy people.
Personally, I use lots of the other features like Allshare Cast, Dual View etc... which I believe (not positive though) would be lost with an AOSP build.
Still happy to try it out is you manage to port it over!
yes i would not use the AOSP but CM has a MASSIVE fan base and so does AOSP... But I agree with you 4.1.2 is much better but even this version has now been merged with AOSP in the i9300 forum lool we need more devs here its too hard to keep up with little help
Devs or no Devs i am still very happy with this device and would not swap it back with the one i had before, which i gave to my mother as a gift But yehh If i really wanted too i can swap it .. But no thanks

I`am real excited about this rom and i think others are too so i can imagine people having questions.
Don`t want to clutter up the dev section so i took the liberty to create this thread so people can exchange and share all kind of CM9 related stuff if you want
Will it have all of the S-pen functionality and the Samsung S- apps? Like S-memo?
Samsung hasn't developed the S pen ability on ICS yet, so it will take a while .
I'm not touching a ROM unless it's official.
Maybe I've grown up, but flashing ****ty buggy ROMs is not for me anymore.

But the S-Pen SDK is available. Don't know if that helps, but... Yeah..

Any luck changing DPI? I could daily this fine if I could just get things to not be so jumbo. Tried 2 programs from market and both (even after new superuser install) wont keep settings.

When I flashed CM7 on my nexus one, it was far from ****ty and buggy. I'd call it official in its own way; rather refined, actually, with better performance and many more features than my previous "official" ROM. I don't know anything about CM9 yet, though.
I wish someone would be able to port this onto our devices. Can anyone shed a light regarding this topic please?
Please put all your suggestions and questions here.
The more demand it is, the better. Maybe a developer might get the device and start porting well known roms with native jelly bean? 4.2?
=D I don't want to come across as a leecher, I am just interested in getting to grips with rom'ing and the android way. I don't want to regret getting this device. =)
That is just it, once the dev gets the device then things get ported.
However, I will say that with the latest releases from Samsung (4.1.2 on the 9300, will be with us sooner or later) with the latest additions including Multi Window I am going to stick with the TW framework as I feel these innovations outweigh having a cleaner Android rom. Having had mine for well over a month now and using a Launcher ontop of TW I can honestly say I have not experienced any lag anywhere which is the only reason I would go for a non TW build in the first place.
Just my view, am sure others will feel differently!

That's a good point actually. But I want to be able to try different roms so i can form some sort of opinion. maybe dual boot a stock android based rom like paranoid android, cyanogenmod and a touchwiz based rom to try the note 2 multi window features.

Dual boot! Well that is a completely different ball game!
It would be really a shame if our device wouldn' get any attention. LTE technologie and 2 gigs of ram should be worth developing. I just asked teamhacksung at irc chat if there would be any developing, but the answer was no.
I really hope someone comes up with new ideas and methods (as I am a total noob at this stuff and would sadly never be able to do all the programming).
With all the customisation, kernel and stuff my old sgs1 is almost as fast, if not faster than my sgs3 LTE (apart of booting of course).
Let's get some loving for our black smartphones =]

Its all timing realy, if they had released the 9305 at the same time as the 9300 then most would have opted for the 9305 but they did not and most cannot afford another handset etc... leavign our community pretty small. However the 9305 is now becoming more widely avaialble with sim free retailers starting to stock them soon so things may pick up, you never know!
We may loose out a little here but I guess all we can look farward to is that the next flagship will have the 2gb and probably LTE from the offest.
I have happily been running a ligher rom with a launcher and custom notifications etc... am happy with that, for now anyway!

Yes dont worry about teamhacksung they are in tantrum mode with samsung havent you heard? LOOL Because samsung have not released the sources as of yet. So just hope we have other devs that step on the plate if you want CM10 Which i dont like that much. Or hope samsung releases the codes,
People like cm10 cause its faster UI but have you tried the 4.2 launcher on our phone? i think it Is exactly the same speed UI as CM10 only with less options. So It doesnt take much to get the same smoothness its just that touchwiz has more animations and is much busier then Pure JB... So patience is the key now and we have to wait and see which dev decides to start working
Yeah, my I9305 lay about 2 Days, because my I9000 with the great CM-based Mackay Rom and the fantastic Semaphore Kernel are awesome in speed, look and Features. But S3 with stock not.. But after some reading, I decided to Pandoriam Rom for my S3 and it's great until now. But i miss the simple Grey cm10 Theme, a solid Kernel to set govenours/deep idle and the whole Stuff, the only 3g Option, that gorgeous lockscreen and most Voodoo sound. I hope that will come with time everything.

You can blame the no audio bug for that. It's so random and at the same time crippling that no further development can begin until it's taken care of.
New and better phones probably, and with the persistent call bug getting the way i wouldnt blame them.

I wouldn't call support weak... yes it has diminished since last year but that's true of many handsets - some devs sell or give away their old ones and move on to brand spanking new models (especially at the end of a contract). Plus, LG's reputation is making things worse.
Ricardo Cerqueira is still hard at work on the official CM10, and we have lots of people making modified versions of stock ICS or even CM10 derivations. Just not as many as during the CM7 days, but again, that should not be a surprise for any phone.

That is only part of the problem, and not the biggest part, IMO... See, the stock ICS doesn't seem to have this bug, plain and simple. At least, I have yet to see a single report of it on a clean stock V30A. However, all custom ICS/JB ROMs that currently exist use either non-original bootloader, or the old GB partition layout, or both (you can also add a custom recovery to this equation). If someone would create a custom ICS ROM based on the new partition layout AND the new original bootloader, I am pretty certain it would be free of this particular bug. The problem is that the new bootloader is locked. Can someone crack it to unlock? I hope so, but so far the only unlocked bootloader by wkpark actually comes from SU660... ArCee and the CM team are trying to make it all work with the old BL and partition layout, and the other devs either follow suit (take a ROM by tonyp and Harsh as an example), or trying to make something based on the new partition layout, but with an unlocked SU660 bootloader. What I am waiting for is someone capable of unlocking the new original bootloader from P990 V30A.
I am not a dev, so it's just my uneducated opinion, but the logic here is really simple: the in-call audio bug exists only when you introduce non-original components...
xalix -- as regards to a "weaker support", I am disappointed about it myself... It doesn't mean I am complaining, because I just can't expect, let alone demand something from any developer -- they will do what they can (and what they want to do), in their due time. But yes, there is not a lot of activity right now, for a number of reasons. You are not the first to bring this up, some people already commented on it. Some good developers, like Topogigi, moved on to other devices (and some are probably planning to), some just left XDA (Stefan is gone, and he was one of the most active contributors when it comes to stock-based ROMs), some don't have enough expertise in particular areas (Carburano has been making wonderful DM ROMs, but he is admitting it would take him time to get the kernel tweaking going without others' help)... All in all, it's kinda slow now, yes. Frankly, I am not the biggest fan of CM ROMs (just couldn't get myself to like CM7, even though some people swear by it, or unofficial CM9 varieties), and would much rather have a tweaked stock as opposed to a CM, no matter the version. So, I am waiting for some progress, but I am not holding my breath at this time... Good thing is that the official stock V30A is working quite well for me, so I am just using my phone without problems, all the while waiting for some nice stable ROM...

Yes, unfortunately I agree with you.
Stephan went out of xda because his fight about commits, and then topo, who was following stephan's work, sold his o2x. Then the kernel source was released and until now not a single stock rom with custom kernel compiled with p990 sources.
It's very sad. I would love to see just some gueste_ICS, but sometimes I think that people are more interested in following the rules than making it work.

I don't understand why but devs still love this phone. So no point saying weaker support. Its the weak support from LG. And, the bootloader can be unlocked. We just need the ramdisk source and we are good to go

Since Stefan has gone i to miss Gueste_Ics im still using Stefans V28E as a daily driver, its a best rom i have seen no lgas no audio bugs, works smooth, i don't understand 1 thing as still the audio bug is there in CM10, we should give time to RC to fix the audio bug, but till then why the dev is not trying to use AOKP or building the custom modified stock rom with a custom kernel as the source are out, from past 1 year we are waiting for LG to release ICS and source now both are out but we are still waiting, don't know how much we have to wait more.
Plz God Give O2X Users More Patients Coz We Need It Desperately
Hello!
I've flashed many a ROM to my old HTC DHD, but have recently upgraded to the Samsung SG3 LTE (i9305). I've yet to root, but was wondering if anyone has deveoped a Stock jelly bean rom for this device yet? By stock, I don't mean stock Samsung/Touchwiz, I mean stock, unbranded Jelly bean, the pure google experience like you would find on the Nexus 4.
I've searched and have yet to find anything. I don't post much but follow the forums and flash a lot, so go easy on me!
Any help or a nod in the right direction would be great.
Thanks
Tweedskin
Yeah... you're out of luck; in short, there are no such ROMs.
Codeworkx recently made a Cyanogenmod tree, but right now the RIL isn't working, so you can't actually use your phone as a phone. Unfortunately, Codeworkx doesn't actually own an I9305, and has no desire to deal with Samsung's less-than-supportive approach to development. There was also an earlier build made by LarryTheCow that had a working RIL, but no microphone support and no GPS. Amplified is still working on a port, but, as far as I'm aware, hasn't got very far.
There are very few developers in possession of this phone, and fewer still who are able and willing to work on such a port. I wouldn't hold your breath on this, and honestly, if you really want an AOSP ROM, then you should probably just sell your I9305. If you just want something that looks broadly similar to stock, there are a few ROMs in the development section that include a JB Domination theme, the stock launcher and a few other stock apps, which gets fairly close. You can also use Swipe Dialler and Sliding Messaging to get something broadly resembling the stock dialler and messaging apps. But it's definitely a shame that a phone with excellent hardware lacks developers to support it.
As of this morning there wasn't but about an hour ago it appears it has been updated and re uploaded with the sim card and connection working.

Yes, I thought that was probably the case!
Thanks for the reply and info....think I'm gonna hold out for another view weeks, then sell it and get a Nexus 4 if nothing is around. I use a Nexus 7 and switching between that and the S3 is akin to switching between Windows 8 and windows 7.
Nexus 4 it is! Cheers!

It was the case then, now the only significant bug with the CM10 ROM is that bluetooth headsets have very poor audio quality. Everything else is working.
I have been trying to get a nice ROM and i have tried almost all of them... right now I'm testing unofficial AOKP and it seems like the one i will use but for some reason when opening the camera the phone restarts.
can't save logs because of that and all applications which try to access the cam end up crashing the phone, so no Skype, g+ and so on.
installing gallery.apk from cm 10.1 (which works fine) doesn't fix the issue...

This is a well known problem. International S3 camera crashes with aosp ROMs. It's to do with the camera firmware version but I've not found any of the solutions posted online have worked for me. Its a total nightmare.
the nightmare continues
Further to my post above...
Getting an S3 i9300 has been the worst phone-based decision I ever made. I love AOKP, but the camera issue exists on any rom I run on my S3 except for roms based on Samsung stock.
The reason, I have learned along my quest, is because the i9300 has variations in the camera hardware, and AOSP/AOKP roms appear to be tested with whichever one I haven't got. Great. There are guides to updating the camera firmware in isolation which I have tried without any improvement, but it does pass the time a little while I wait for the Nexus 5. I've come to the conclusion that if you want to enjoy a pure Google experience, that is the only answer.
Of course it isn't the fault of team AOKP that you and I can't enjoy their great ROM - and Samsung don't design their phones to be run anything other than their own stock firmware, so it's not as if you can blame them either. But it is sad that nobody appears to be listening to everybody that has this problem. The S3 was a top selling Android device last year and you'd think that at least one developer has this issue and wants to fix it, but apparently not. To my mind it seems as simple as including drivers for both camera firmwares, which is obviously what Samsung do with their stock roms.
I know this is basically just a rant but unfortunately I can't engage in any serious techie discussions because XDA consider me a noob. If you have this issue and permission to discuss it then please do try and take it forward with them.

Basically that is to stop users asking stupid questions like how do i switch the phone on .
But as its relatively easy to make ten or more non stupid posts on XDA its not a problem . Although if you where stupid on post 9 i fail to see how you gain intelligence by post 11.
General Q&A Accessories and Themes do not require ten posts even for boobs .
This is not the I9300 forum see above are you ranting about this phone I9305 or some other phone ??
